Blog Post with Detail Electronics Explanation : craftedworkshop.com/blog/how-... I built this rechargeable, battery-powered, portable Bluetooth boombox speaker using the Parts Express C-Note speaker kit plus their KAB amp board (links to all parts below). This was my first speaker build and I am honestly amazed at how awesome this thing sounds.

If it sounds anything like it looks, it must be amazing. Such an awesome project!
Trail Features thanks man!
I've watched bunches of videos like this, I built 7 boomboxes on my own and I can officially say that this is the best one I've ever seen, good job!
** dO It YoUrSelF ** with at least 100k worth of wood working tools...... :p
normal MEN have all little cheap tools in home or garage and lot lot more tools too. no expensive, ewer no 100K haha. normal need only some clamps ,i have 4 pcs cheap and no need more. tablesaw have ewery normal men in home, same hand router, and hand planer, all other can do diy in home workshop, planer frame, jointer, circle jigs, no need lot tools can made all same.
A lot of the tools in this are pure convenience. Almost all of these things can be done with hand tools.
@@farrit thats how i make mine. i sure as hell aint got all these fancy tools.
yeah, if i had my dads table top drill press, table saw, radial arm saw, and table jig saw. he spent over 1 g's and 5 years to collect. all i have are hand saws and hand tools.
@@abalczon im going to make a portable radio into an ammunition can. i can power it with a 20amp 12 v power supply and power jacks found on amazon.
This woodworking is remarkable, keep up the good work!
That is an awesome build! Classic look with new tech. Great video, thanks!
For more videos on speakers builds, canât recommend Kirby Meets Audio enough!
Ashley Bennett for sure! I linked him in the video description and cards, he helped with the planning of this build.
Crafted Workshop Didnât notice the link, kudos! Love his channel, apart from he never squats next to his finished builds đ
Hah!
Looks great man! Iâve been wanting to build one like this for some time now! Iâm very happy you went with walnut, itâs a beautiful wood that looks great for this type of thing!
That is gorgeous! Beautiful job!
Nice to see someone who uses dampening material to improve sound. Also, that is a crazy cool shop. And, you have some sick skills. Beautiful build.
excellent craftsmanship, a very nice shop, congrats, that was a nice boombox, all elegant. well builted.
I have never seen this kind of speaker before, it's just amazing
Would have been nice to see an in depth section dedicated to the power distribution. The first word in the description is BATTERY and yet you have nothing in the video indicating how you handled that.
Go check out the blog article. Detailed electronics info is a little dull for video, this amp board is modular and has readily available battery packs that can plug into it. Super simple.
Love watching how skillfully you put this awesome speaker project together. Great job!
Thanks a lot!
Wow - Awesome. It's so refreshing to see a speaker build by a woodworker. Accuracy, detail and great looks.
Thanks a lot Danny!
Super cool. Love that you adapted the kit to a boom box size. Impressive work.
Luke Dorny thanks Luke, definitely a fun project!
That turned out sweet!! Love it.
Looks super awesome canât Johnny. I love the heavy round over.
Mortgage & Mitre thanks!

Dang! Turned out so nicely Johnny! The walnut and heavy edge treatments really make it pop! Super modern looking.
Adrian Orozco thanks Adrian!
Nice. Love the overlapping bass and tweeters.
Nice project Johnny. That walnut looks amazing đđŒ
Great project, looks awesome!!!! Can't get enough of your French cleat wall in the background. Best background of any CZcamsr maker I follow.
Jimmy z hah, thanks man! I love that wall, really the perfect background for a maker CZcamsr.
Such a dope project dude. Nice work on this! Iâve been wanting to make one for myself for a long time now.
Tennessee Builds thanks, go for it!

Craig Francis go for it, super rewarding build!

Josh Desser thanks Josh!
This is soooo cool!!! I love the way it turned out and that walnut is just gorgeous! Excellent, Johnny!
Thanks Cris!
Build an amp for your Uke like this.
Double Dare Fan YES! Even if she just rebuilt the cabinet and swapped the components from her amp over, thatâd be awesome.
OUTSTANDING! Think I'll build one myself now. Thanx for the confidence.
Awesome, have fun!
How many incredible machines do you have?
Looks amazing Johnny .I'm pretty sure it sounds great too. That is something to be proud of
Franks DIY thanks a lot, it definitely sounds awesome!
just perfect build
Looks really good and sounds as good as it looks! Thanks!!
Steven Kofoed thanks Steven!
Fantastic build, looks awesome!
Dinusha Chandratilleke thanks!
Awesome build, Johnny! Curious to see how the walnut holds up with the vibration of the speakers. Keep us in the loop!
Matthew Hicks thanks, definitely will! I think it should be totally fine, Fender uses Pine on a ton of their amp cabinets and clearly thatâs working for them.
DUDE!!!!!!!! Great project and she is Beautiful Iâm heading to my shop now to take a set of 18yr old computer speakers my good friend Dave gave last week and do the same. Unbelievable that he has had them that long and they sound great. They come with a separate subwoofer.
beautifully build, awesome!
My first job was soldering audio jacks for an entire summer so I got pretty good at it. I ended up working at that place for almost 10 years. I'd say you did a really good job for your first time soldering. Here are my two biggest tips: 1 - put a dab of solder on the tip of the gun before touching it to the wires. This helps transmit heat from the iron to the wire. You want the wires hot enough to melt the solder, otherwise you'll get a cold joint that could break or have lots of resistance. 2 - Use spring clamps to hold your parts. Just put them on their side and clamp the part in place.
Thanks for the tips!
Looks amazing.
Great job boâ€
That turned out amazing!
Jess Peterson thanks Jess!
Thanks
Nice build
You truly are a master craftsman. I haven't seen a craftsman like you since the New Yankee Workshop on PBS back in the 90s.
Thanks, Norm is my hero! Watched him with my dad growing up.
Parts Express is amazing. Awesome build.
James Foskey yup, theyâve got everything for this type of build, so many options! Thanks!
Great fun building three of these. Two went to my boys as Christmas gifts. The other is for my wife and me to use at lake side in the North Georgia mountains.
i have the C-Note kit on my table right now. The walnut was a great choice!
Shawn Trombley thanks Shawn, great kit for sure.
really loved that project. Greetings from Greece
ÎÏÎœÏÏαΜÏÎŻÎœÎżÏ ÎλαÏογÎčÎ±ÎœÎœÎŹÏÎżÏ thanks, thatâs awesome!

It's Shawn Spencer (James Roday- rodriguez) "I've heard it both ways"
Thanks for the tutorial bud. Keep up the good work!
Maybe my favorite project of yours to date. The Walnut looks so good and the round over bit turned out great too.
Thanks a lot!
Just beautiful
nice comb filter
Looking badass! Can't go wrong with choosing walnut... so gorgeous.
Thanks!
I think this looks amazing!
red12287 thanks!
Dang!!! Hope this is under the tree for your Mama this year. Love it!!!
đ
That was work over there bro. Good job
Verry cool project! Great job!
Dutch shed woodshop thanks!
Let me say... You are really impressed... Hah I am really impressed with the Bluetooth speakers that have been connected to batteries with a box that big and a sound loud enough to shatter a ear drum... Amazing project good luck.
This looks great!! The only addition I would do is to install a couple of 12v 8Ah batteries and charger so you can make it a portable great looking boombox! It will require some additional electronics to convert 110v to 12v, to measure charge and stop charging when full... but I think it would be totally worth it!
I use 18v power tool batteries in a reciver shoe, then step that down to 12v for a class 'D' amp.
looks great
Sacha HĂ€chler thanks Sacha!
Love this build, looks amazing! Could you please share the finished dimensions of the speaker? Definitely adding this to my list to build, nicely done!
Great build Johnny! I'd love to bring a speaker like that to the beach, it looks awesome!
Thatâd be great!
Nice and clean work borther
Thanks!
Dude how did you do a boombox video and not get at least one shot channeling your inner early 90's and have it on your shoulder?! Great project! Nice to see your progression on here from the early days. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot James!
Very nice speaker build. But most of us don't have all the fancy tools to do this. I built one out of plywood and car stereo media player and car speakers. 12 volt LiFEPo4 battery and charger and sounds great , no foam inside and an vent hole on front panel. did I mention it sounds great. Lots of bass and good overall full range sound. I use it at work on my tool box. I may build a second one for home use or to replace the one at work and use that at home. will see.
Good job man looks great
John Grech thanks John!
I like how you used a crossover to better produce the low and high frequencies separately for a clearer and better soundstage audio output. The cabinet was also created flawlessly which is a nice combination for hifi audio.
Thanks! The boombox sounds amazing and the battery life really is phenomenal.
Beautiful speaker
Thanks!
Wonderfull project
Neil F thanks Neil!
Looks great!
Thanks!
Beautiful job!
Thanks!
That's beautiful.
Nice job. I subscribed just now. Thanks!
Funny, I just started the same build. Thought I was being ingenious. Love the way yours turned you!
Thanks!
Awesome job! I'm looking to do a similar design utilizing 2 Tang Band W5-1138SMF subwoofers.
That is very beautiful and elegant boombox!
What I not understood, was the trick for jointing the glue edges.
Any additonal explanations you can give, very appreciate. Thanks a lot.
Hey Sergio, go check out Jayâs video, he explains it really well! czcams.com/video/amsBkAOXji4/video.html
Your shop is crazy! Good work
Thanks!
The videos you make are very interesting. I need to learn a lot from you
Today I managed to put the light switch in the middle...
lies!!!
Drinks and Finger Food gghhh

My daughter and I build a set of c-notes. I recognized them in your thumbnail haha. That box must sound awesome, the c-notes are great. The only downside is that you're missing the great imaging these speakers have by putting them so close together.
Have Drone Will Travel thatâs funny! And yea, it sounds great but Iâm definitely not getting as much separation as keeping them separate.
I'm still blown away when I hear the c-note. That's the best sounding $100 you can spend I think. And this box, in walnut, it looks as good as it sounds.
Yup, the C-Notes are known for their incredible imaging (for the $$.) Almost a waste to use them in this application. I bet they still sound good. I do wonder if a cheaper set of drivers would work well in this boom box. Worth researching if I build one.
Really cool Johnny! đđ»đ»đđ»
Fred McIntyre thanks Fred!
Fred McIntyre đ”đ¶
Sees thumbnail: cool, Iâm totally gonna build that!
Watches video: ainât nobody (me) got time (or tools) for that! Great work though!
aemediainc Sounds like a blues song to me. I also agree, these guys do great work but they also have more tools and attachments than the average Joe (me) lol.
Hey Johnny which wood material u have used for it?
đThat is a sweet looking bomb box đ»đ¶
Crafter Maker thanks!
With all these fancy machines in that workshop, its almost not like a DIY. Takes the fun out of it.
But surely its well made.
Get yourself a resaw king blade for your bandsaw. Lasts forever.
Nice build
Ziyaad Docrat thanks!
The walnut makes it pop!
Was that a Park Tool cable cutter you used to put the connectors on the speaker wire?
Very simple if you have the tools you need
Karats sounds amazing in my sony 1000X M3 anc overears
I'll just buy one
Is there a cut list for all of the wooden components? Awesome build! Thanks!
