Last year we could see the "quality" of USA´s weapons in counterofensive in Ukraine. The only things which were remarkable about those guns were the PRICE and the SPEED in which these were wiped out... USA decided not to use the remaining Abrams, since they found out, that it could not survive any direct contact wit Russia´s very capable army. Notice the paradox: Ukraine is forcefully sending man to front lines to die there, while USA decided, that their machines should not "die" in Ukraine , crazy disgusting NATO...

    Brusilov Offensive in WW1. Very similar circumstances. Austria-Hungarian forces very low on ammo were attacked everywhere along the line at once to achieve breakthroughs anywhere and exploit them. It was TECHNICALLY a success but at ridiculously high losses.They were so high it took away Russia's offensive capabilities and was followed by the Russian Revolution within a year or so.

      Even if we assume that Russia has significantly higher losses then Ukraine then still the result would be total defeat of Ukraine if the comparison holds water. The reason is the Brussilov offensive was basically game over for the Austro-Hungarian army. The only reason Austria-Hungary did not had to sue for peace was that Germany sent lots of reinforcements to help stabilize the front. Ukraine has no ally that will send troops.
      It is a bit early to tell, if Russia can keep the pressure, but a better comparison might be Operation Bagration from WW2. Although the USSR had a lot higher losses then the Germans the Russians could sustain the losses while Germany never recovered from this blow.

They made some major advances but none that mattered for the war's outcome (empty territory). By August the Allies were able to resume the offensive aided by the large losses Germany had suffered. As a result of yesterday's offensive, the Russian Armed Forces captured Keramik. Four days of bypassing Ukrainian positions from the east yielded results.
    The most important thing is that this forces units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in two large strongholds west of Keramik to retreat so as not to be surrounded.

    • @PreceptorGrant
      @PreceptorGrant Před 18 dny +2

      Not reliably enough to be useful sadly. Anti-tank mines need quite a lot of pressure to trigger them, since they're calibrated to go off when a vehicle rolls over them but not when a soldier steps on them. A cluster munition might set off some of them, but you couldn't guarantee that you'd got them all, or even enough to make a meaningful gap.
