      The moving in small teams have been done by both sides for some time now. Larger formations are a prime target for artillery. Smaller targets reduce casualties and cause the enemy to expel more rounds. I don't know why the ISW finds it so surprising.

      ruZZia sent conscripts to Ukraine from day one.
      Also, most of the frontlines ARE within ruZZia.
      Don't forget.

      Because fighting for USA interest while make you believe you fight for your country liberty using ultra nationalist scoialist propaganda is so much better. Most of Russians soldiers are volunters or inmates they fight for Crimea and Donbass that are like what is Texas to Americans; actually Donbass and Crimea were already Russian while USA didn't exist and far before Texas became American. There was 8 millions ethnic Russians on 44 millions Ukrainians and it was also a civil war, and everybody kind of forgot it. I know ukrainian woman who live since more ten years in france, she is from Odessa, even if she hates Putin, she told me "Ukrainians and Russians we are the same". And many europeans thinks like this i personally always seen Ukrainians as some kind of Russians, but before this war i never realized their ultra nationalist extrem right problem, iwas thinking it a thing from the past of the WW2 no more alive... A macabre observation of Ukraine attack drones is that often when a Russian is severely injured the Ukrainians more often than not finish them off.
    In a strange way this may be the most humane thing to do although that may not be why they do it.
    From a purely practical point of view it would seem that it is a waste of ammunition and that it may be far more beneficial to both tie up the Russians with having to tender to their injured and having injured conscripts return to their communities where their experiences cannot be covered up.
    The Russian state can dress up the return of a dead body, they can make out that the person died honourably and a "hero", they are dead and can't speak. Returning injured conscripts will in many cases be bitter, complain that they were used as cannon fodder, poorly trained and equipped.
    A further observation is how often the Russian conscripts are seen to be isolated, which would seem to suggest that with such a long front and despite the total number of conscripted Russian, the Russian front line forces are stretched.
    And finally it is also an observation how little comradery seems to ever be shown between Russian troops, when so often one is injured, their colleagues leave them to fend for themselves. This would indicate that they are fighting with strangers and there is no "band of brother" mentality, self-survival is paramount.
    While the Ukrainians are fighting for themselves and their land, Russian conscripts are fighting to satisfy Putin's ego. Even if Russia were to win, they would be subject to years and years of conflict trying to subdue a hostile population. It will be no different to the US trying to control Afghanistan where they won the war, but then couldn't control the country.

  • @Pooter-it4yg
    @Pooter-it4yg Před 15 dny +4

    The term conscription is also sometimes used to refer to Russians doing their obligatory national service, usually as a break year during their university course (since virtually everyone goes to university). Ostensibly it's reservist training but some have always seen active service during their "year in" and this seems almost required at present. Given that Eastern Ukraine has always been an amalgam of Ukrainians and Russians living happily side by side, this theatre has been a "desertion sponge" since day one. They don't see the enemy as the enemy, don't want to fight anyone anyway and can pass perfectly in a dual language environment. The natural way to do it would be to get creatively lost as your unit retreats and find someone to surrender to.
    They'd have to be processed and vetted of course, but there are quite a lot of Ukrainian civilians up to the job. I doubt many of them are actually trusted to "turn coat" and pick up arms and most would undoubtedly prefer to stay and be put to supervised war effort work. However, undoubtedly some will have returned to Russia, tasked with incommunicado guerilla resistance. It's actually not too hard to move around that part of the world as "just another face in the crowd" if you know how, especially if you have some hard currency.

      No, at best they are fighting for the right to choose their masters. And as it happens in most wars, young and usually poor fight for the interests of old and rich. This goes for both sides. I would love to see a war where those who stand to benefit the most or benefiting from the war itself did the actual fighting.

    • @FirstLast-fi7yz
      @FirstLast-fi7yz Před 16 dny +1

      Funny I made a comment and *poof* all I stated was Ukraine had a draft dodging issue and that there are plenty of videos, stories and reports of ukranian men complaining about the treatment they receive as fresh conscripts. Willy OAM I believe showed a story of 350 fresh Ukranian conscripts being sent to their death. You can look at Ukranian obituaries stating the deaths of men this year that only got conscripted late last year...
      Yes Russians are treated badly, but russian leadership does not care, so who are we trying to shame by pointing out their losses? They don't care lol
      On the other hand, western nations are relying on the success of the Ukrainians to decide how much and when support will be given. No point in sending money when officers take it for themselves. 🤔🤔

    I always felt that unless Russia scored a quick victory (which hasn’t happened), that Russia could score a drawn out win, but they would still have suffered staggering losses that would decimate the country for decades. And could potentially lead to more parts of Russia successfully seceding.

There is no modern way of fighting a ground war, there is no air superiority and we can see how heavy equipment get smashed before it even enters the fight, so infantry works, small probing units ahead and second wave is the larger group.. what Russians achieved in 4 days was more then Ukraine super dooper summer offensive that got know where lost tons of western weapons and man power.. Russians did it without and heavy weapons.. lol
