@@gazirelseiryuu7229 yeah, the same - low. At least for the russian side. That's why Ukraine keeps spinning this "meat assaults" narrative, despite, you know, being the only country of the two that closed its borders for all men and actively hunts them on streets. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of videos of AFU soldiers complaining about how awful things are for them, how terrible their commanders are, how they're used as fodder and expected to fight till death with bare hands. Yet you, westerners, are taking about how terrible russian army is based on ukrainian propaganda piece, convinced in it's obvious lies.

Now there is a cavieat, if I believe in the mission and it aims to protect vulnerable others that's something else alltogether, I'd go. i like that you did a comparison between d-day and whatever you can call what the russians oparation . objectives in d-day were clear and planning was very detailed. command structure was very detailed as well, with officers and ncos at the front level. equipment was varied and set up to tackle all possible contingencies versus an almost homogenous, and underequipped, and most of all teher was proper treatent of wounded and relatively high turnaround of casualties. if a guy got shot, he would get evacked as soon as possible and teher was much care to provide medical services even in the fornt lines. the field hospitals were set up as soon as they could manage it, and teher were hospital ships waiting to treat casualties even further. russian soldiers never had as high standards of teratment, equipment or command and they do seem to accept this and "tough it out" collectively. as if by toughing it out you achive any tactical goal. well surprise surprise, it acheives nothing but get more and more KIAs , even un the amerian civil war, and under very promitive conditions, attrition rates were lower than in some of these battles...

Imagine an American officer saying: “John Smith! Harry Brown! Peter Stevenson! Your names will be remembered for centuries to come!”

The guys on the video are reasonably well equiped. Especially gorka and kevlar helmets. They are also non uniform, which indicates that every guy was acquiring his own gear, quite possibly for his own money
Soviet war legendarium is based around self-sacrifice and honorable death (and retrospective remembrance). Being a hero is priority over being effective. The commander in the video leans on that heavily (and apparently with success)

The difference between storm Z and storm V is that storm V is on a military contract and in this way the contract can be extended indefinitely. In theory they also get military benifits. Storm Z are on a 3 month contract and that it. After they go home. The change was made because the conscripted men where complaining that prisoners got a better deal than them and the optics of Putin signing pardons was bad for morale.

The phrase I’ve been using to describe Russias alleged military strategy is ‘they are using soldiers like bullets’. When the state has devalued its own troops to this degree, is it any wonder that there’s rampant war crimes.
