Hooliganism in football is nothing new. But whilst tighter rules, regulations and banning orders are preventing it from appearing in the stadiums alongside the games, it continues away from the matchday audience.
More organised, more violent and much more secretive, this is the story of how hooliganism is very much still a part of European football, and many of the best hooligans and ultras are now on the front lines defending their nations.

At least I know the answer to why hooliganism seemed to stop. You’d read about constant hooliganism in the papers and then one day you didn’t. This makes a lot of sense.

Let me just say, if you're not part of ultras group or you never took a trip for a meet up with other ultras, you can only vaguely guess how things are played out. It obviously variates from country to country, but things are far more complex than one would assume. Stories are told all around, but 90% of the entirety is never spoken of, you can see a couple of minutes of a fight in videos, but the entire background and what goes on before and after is something you'd have to be a part of to know. I know a lot of people find these fights to be idiotic and dumb, am not gonna try to prove anyone wrong, but you'd have to be there to actually get a full picture to understand.
It’s about pride who is the best, and proud to be poznan🔵
Seems u speak from experience. Do share!
“Professional hooliganism” might be the most lit oxymoron I’ve ever heard 😂
This is wild. I like how they are super disciplined with MMA/gym training, no alcohol or drugs, military style heriarchy, strict rules on communication and proliferation. There has to be a movie/documentary on this - 110% would watch. LOL Europeans soccer fans are next level.
there is a few interviews/mini doccos with the groups on youtube about this. I think vice did one on it.
Danish television have made a fictionary series about being in this 'community'. Dont know if its available for the world though
A Belgian photographer had a project called “bosfights” that got a lot of attention and praise. On a side note he had to defend himself in court later, he was one of those 66 people mentioned in the video, cause he was suspected to participate in free fights himself. So free fights are definitely not that secretive anymore.
just look up king of the streets on here. You'll find most of the guys involved are from firms and the more popular ones will vlog their training and prep, mini docs etc
Damn, Football stories are crazy, never ending supply of craziness.
In Denmark its called "Skov Boksning" translated into "Forrest Boxing"
Those guys that went to prison probably came out with another 100 members.😂
And 5x the experience
Can you make sensible transfers for chelsea hooligans ? We have some decent young fighters but lack leaders with experience. Do you think the vice captain of Bayern hooligans be willing to join us for 50 million as hes on the last year of his contract
They are importing youngsters from Brazil so Expect Chelsea hooligans to get their new high potential fighters from favelas.
We can sign them on 8-year contracts with incentivised salaries (+£50,000 for headbutts, +£100,000 for crotch shots).
@@rory4605 Amortized over 8 years those contract incentives are pretty reasonable though
You missed that the polish forrest boxing are so organized that they have a league and every week a new magasin gets released with news of the lastest fights, league positions and so on.
Is this magasin free available?
Man, love Tifo with their top journalism. Probably the best outlet for football
Definitely. Most other outlets are either click farming or paid for by the saudis or one of the other sports washers out there.
Such a brilliant brilliant video!! Thank you to the TIFO team & James Montague ❤
Never found something so ridiculous yet so worthy of respect.
worthy of respect? if you exclusively mean the Ukrainians fighting for their country, yes.
@@eddietemple2302 The Ukranians in question (Azov) are neo nazis and are, in fact, not worthy of respect
I like these random stories. My favourite is the one about the Victorian-style football match.
2 days ago, an AEK fan from Greece was killed by Dinamo Zagreb hooligans after the latter made a raid consisting of 120-150 men in Athens. The timing of this video hit hard
In which case this video is bordering propaganda because Tifo believes they don't do drugs and that they stick to the rules.
@@SevenTheMisgiven Its both. The structure is very loose so you get public episodes happening from time to time. Its not like there is a strict official confederation at the top that regulates every member and their activities down to the last detail, like football matches are.
Being in a circle where I see all the (very few) videos, it is kept very secret and many Dont talk about it, this is like doing a documentary on fight club but having ten percent of the information you need to get the full picutre.

This is why I've always been inclined to opine that countries like Saudi Arabia can't replicate what top European leagues have through money-washing nor can FIFA achieve it by creating "more international club tournaments"
Football in Europe is a cultural spectacle with numerous subcultures. These subcultures form the foundations of the authentic passion seen on match days.
Any spectacle that's not rich in genuine passion is usually short-lived. Money can't buy something like this
Saudi football has subculture , ittihad is 95 years old and ahli is 86 and shabab 76 al-Nasser and al-hilal almost 70 and all with generational fans and subcultures, rival team will fight outside the field physical and verbal, and in normal day to day you might get depromotion by a rival team supporter at work.
Each team has ultras as well and club anthems
Its also in South America , Europeans just suddenly forget that part it seems.
@@Phantom-ez4zvnobody doubts South America. But Saudi is a whole other balance of inauthenticity and sports washing and crazy inflation
Great video. Hope more people will now understand what modern hooliganism is. The truth is that the scene of organized secret meetups has been around and prevailing for more that 12-15 years.
honest to god how is this bad
Dude Edward Norton and Brad Pitt being doing this since the 90s.
Longer than that, even. The mobile phone made making a meet easy, you could change plans quickly, too, if there was too much police presence when you got to the oppos town.
Disappointed it wasn't bored rich players.
