  • PI planning is an event for one ART, and it is about planning how an ART's works as one unit on their common ART level backlog, called Program Backlog. This video explores how Product Management keeps the backlog ready for the PI Planning meeting.
    The Product Management group gets the program backlog ready by doing Program Backlog Refinement; the program backlog refinement activities are managed using Program Kanban Board, these activities includes
    -Reviewing and updating backlog item definition
    -Developing acceptance criteria and benefit hypothesis for features or Program Backlog Items
    -Working with the teams to establish technical feasibility and scope estimates to find the right size which fits in one PI for one Agile Release Train (ART)

    Excellent Video.. Very informative. I have a few questions.
    1. When the Business Owner, Product Management & Product Owner picks the Features from the FUNNEL to ANALYSING stage. On what basis did they choose the feature to move particular features?
    2. In ANALYSING STAGE: During the Benefit Hypothesis process, BO, PM, SA & PO size the feature if it fits in one single PI or not? On what basis do they do the sizing. I mean, how are they going to decide whether a particular feature fits in one PI?
    3. In ANALYSING STAGE: You mentioned Estimating features, this can be done in T-Shirt sizing?
    Example: If the Feature is too big we assign XXL and if the feature is moderately complex it is M ? it works that way ??
    4. I don't see RTE involvement anywhere in the Continuous exploration area?

    • @izenbridge
      @izenbridge  Před rokem

      The PM should facilitate have clear policy for movement of items on Kanban Board, mean as an PM with BOs they need to find our Policy to decide what comes next in the sequence from funnel to analysis, it can be high level business value based priority or can have more.
      SA and PO are expected to do estimation of direct feature based on what understand, and it can be done in story points or some other mean to see does this fits in PI, it can sometime go wrong and we may need to do adjustment during PI Planning meeting.

    I also have questions about what exactly the System teams, and Architect's role in Pre-PI & PI meetings? Can you please explain in detail? I have seen some articles on the internet but couldn't understand them.

    • @izenbridge
      @izenbridge  Před rokem

      The Role of System Team and Architect varies based on maturity of ART, the more work done by Team for system integration and architecture the better it is. So i think that is the reason difficult to find specific information. If integration is managed by teams system team plays hardly any role and you may not have it. So this is totally depends.
