- Diego Calderón was researching birds in a remote area of Colombia when he was kidnapped by FARC. Now, years later, he’s decided to return to meet former FARC members and hopefully find some meaning in what happened.

In 2004, Diego Calderón was kidnapped by FARC. What are your thoughts on his quest to find meaning in what happened?
Time heals!
He's an idiot.
For the mind to be at peace, any trauma has to be faced head on in order to heal. I think Diego accomplished that.
I am going to watch the Warblers and others as they migrate back from Central and South American areas as they rest in the Marshes and Beach of Lake Erie this May.
Any tips for me besides boots and binoculars?
Hello everyone I am Indian who loves india
I think this is a rare and beautiful story of forgiveness
I really believe in Colombia acknowledging and protecting the inmense biodiversity is a huge oportunity to heal our wounds and settle up the debts we have with a past that haunts us. I'm 17 and currently studying Architecture and considering studying Biology as well. Our country has lived at war for 70 years in a row, that became like an anesthesia, like being stuck, that's why I hope that through what I do, I can contribute to the construction of a peace culture. I hope as well that Colombian youth becomes empowered and with a refreshing mentality promote our society to make a sense of Colombia out of war, make a sense of what we really are. When I was a child I remember watching on the news massacres, bombings at the jungle, FARC concentration camps, etc. Nowadays such things are gone or are dissapearing, but it is easy to forget where have we been, specially in the tough moment the peace deal is going through, but after watching this my faith is restored. Thanks.
Nice choice Camilio, Architecture and Biology is a very good combination of careers paths. I'd suggest though you got used to Autocad, Revit and bentley hevacomp these software(s) will help you fathom Architecture. All the best.
Mucha suerte en tus estudios
Que historia más bonita, construir nuevos significados para Colombia. Gracias.
gracias por tus palabras Sofía querida... ¡un abrazo!
This shows how an emotional baggage can be disposed to a great good. Living in peace is so underrated nowdays, that when someone who's willing to forgive appears, it shocks the society.
indeed... absolutely right... and much easier to just let go and live in peace!
Reconciliation is the way, a great example Diego, thanks
gracias chicos... un abrazo grande
As colombian this is so sad for me. I am glad something is changing in my country.
as a Colombian this is NOT so sad for me, because precisely, something is changing! ;-)
Couldn't have said it better. The most important part in all walks of life is letting go of emotional baggage that brings no benefit at all to one's self.
yeah
indeed!
Why the FARC guys are using gold watch and opening their own business?Did they received money to abandon communism and destroy farc
VIVA COLOMBIA!
¡que viva!... en paz
Impresionante testimonia Diego!!!! Fue un placer poder saludarte en Israel!!.
epa... saludos.. que bueno que te gustó!
I love to watch this mini-documental. I'm Colombian and process of peace in there, It's extremely complicated. So, that video is a form to remember every citizen in Colombia, what's is the reason for decided peace and not war.
Excellent!🙌🏻💫
glad you enjoyed it Geraldyne! abrazos
Make me wanna go there and have me a big cup of Colombian coffee looking at nature.☕️
Geraldo Reyes that scene is such like peaceful for many of us, And add it with cup looking the forest under raining
Geraldo Reyes don’t come, it is very dangerous. Not only for the COVID-19 but also because the war didn’t finish still going on. The FARC and ELN plus some others criminal Organization still operate using the same methods to keep going with the war.
Very moving.
glad to read that Charley mate... ¡abrazos!
Well documented, kudos for the effort.
THANKS, glad you liked it!
What a fascinating hobby
fantastic
jajaja.. indeed!... not too shabby!
ПРИРОДА КРАСИВАЯ !
Nature is lovely indeed!
It’s better to forgive and remember, rather than to forgive and forget. For how can you better yourself if you don’t remember the wrongs? Anyways, this was a very wholesome video. Reminds me how nature can really bond us together.
absolutely ... "to let go" is always the best way... but always remember so you LEARN.. saludos!
Uplifting!
lovely!
I love shows like this
thumbs up!!!
A strong message. Literally breathtaking experience. I just hope that were the same situation with all the fighting fronts of the guerilla.
not the VERY SAME situation with ALL other ex-FARC fronts Simon unfortunately... but a high percentage, ~90%, of the guys that gave up the arms, want to keep living in peace and building a new Colombia for sure... saludos
amazing

🙌
Can you give further info on the music used?
Very good 👍
thanks!
Nice visual
Yea, the never disappointing National Geographic, always delivering great content on Wild Life. For the benefit of all, FARC is known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (Spanish: Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia-Ejército del Pueblo, FARC-EP and FARC) is a guerrilla movement involved in the continuing Colombian armed conflict starting in 1964. I'm guessing the moderator wanted to be concise by referring to them as FARC.
This was uploaded a day before my birthday
Nice video

HELLO
Hi
....
Mali birds video. And their nest
Is it wrong to think that, like all organisms, and all the knowledge we have about natural evolution, we (humans) would evolve and adapt to climate change? Or is it climate change happening too fast for us to adapt?
Hello everyone I am indian who loves india
This is more about this guy's life story and less about birds
this is more about SEVERAL guys's lives here in Colombia ombe Cesar... ;-)
The world could learn about this real story of the virtue of forgiveness.I wish somebody could make this as a movie for the whole world to see.The second commandment of God is for us to love one another. Each and everyday i pray for this kind of story. Each and everyday i pray to God why are we building weapon of mass destruction instead of building bridges to connect us to one another. Why cant we use this money to end global poverty. Why cant we use this money to tackle the problem of global warming.I am observing in this video that the land is barren and the trees are not healthy. They should plants trees here.Thank you National Geographic for sharing this story.God bless all your crews.
it's already a -short- movie for the whole world to see.. it is public here on CZcams and at NatGeo website ;-)
Just like everywhere in South America, lots of American weapons everywhere.
Deberias ir a venezuela estado cojedes si quieres ver pajaros
los tepuis y la gran sabana son increíbles!
"Tomar tinto" in Spanish.
According to National Geographic: "To drink coffee".
REALITY: "drinking red-wine".
Come on, NG, grow up!
local context-dependant ( = Colombia) reality: TOMAR TINTO = DRINK COFFEE ;-)

Pasamos de tener un grupo terrorista, narcotraficante y criminal a tener un grupo terrorista, narcotraficante y criminal elevado a la categoría de "santos" por ciertos enfermos del síndrome de Estocolmo.
Can't see can't hear can't understand. What's the sense and showing this

Cutting down Trees 🌲🌲🌲🌲around are world from forests 🌳 to woodlands 🌳are releasing Toxins that the trees 🌲 have collect back into the Atmosphere and logging is cutting far quicker than planting around the world and adult trees 🌲 that take 45 years to grow store more toxins and carbon than just new planted trees does .
If the logging continues to carry on then the weathers around are world will become a lot hotter and very aggressive storms will become life threatening for humans just because humans can’t stop eating massive amounts meat 🥩 just because jobs and money are more important than life itself .
PLEASE SAY NO TO LOGGING and help protect the trees and the wildlife habitats that are so important to the world we live .
