  • Diego Calderón was researching birds in a remote area of Colombia when he was kidnapped by FARC. Now, years later, he’s decided to return to meet former FARC members and hopefully find some meaning in what happened.

In 2004, Diego Calderón was kidnapped by FARC. What are your thoughts on his quest to find meaning in what happened?

For the mind to be at peace, any trauma has to be faced head on in order to heal. I think Diego accomplished that.
I am going to watch the Warblers and others as they migrate back from Central and South American areas as they rest in the Marshes and Beach of Lake Erie this May.
Any tips for me besides boots and binoculars?

I really believe in Colombia acknowledging and protecting the inmense biodiversity is a huge oportunity to heal our wounds and settle up the debts we have with a past that haunts us. I'm 17 and currently studying Architecture and considering studying Biology as well. Our country has lived at war for 70 years in a row, that became like an anesthesia, like being stuck, that's why I hope that through what I do, I can contribute to the construction of a peace culture. I hope as well that Colombian youth becomes empowered and with a refreshing mentality promote our society to make a sense of Colombia out of war, make a sense of what we really are. When I was a child I remember watching on the news massacres, bombings at the jungle, FARC concentration camps, etc. Nowadays such things are gone or are dissapearing, but it is easy to forget where have we been, specially in the tough moment the peace deal is going through, but after watching this my faith is restored. Thanks.

Nice choice Camilio, Architecture and Biology is a very good combination of careers paths. I'd suggest though you got used to Autocad, Revit and bentley hevacomp these software(s) will help you fathom Architecture. All the best.

This shows how an emotional baggage can be disposed to a great good. Living in peace is so underrated nowdays, that when someone who's willing to forgive appears, it shocks the society.

Geraldo Reyes don’t come, it is very dangerous. Not only for the COVID-19 but also because the war didn’t finish still going on. The FARC and ELN plus some others criminal Organization still operate using the same methods to keep going with the war.

Yea, the never disappointing National Geographic, always delivering great content on Wild Life. For the benefit of all, FARC is known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (Spanish: Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia-Ejército del Pueblo, FARC-EP and FARC) is a guerrilla movement involved in the continuing Colombian armed conflict starting in 1964. I'm guessing the moderator wanted to be concise by referring to them as FARC.

Cutting down Trees 🌲🌲🌲🌲around are world from forests 🌳 to woodlands 🌳are releasing Toxins that the trees 🌲 have collect back into the Atmosphere and logging is cutting far quicker than planting around the world and adult trees 🌲 that take 45 years to grow store more toxins and carbon than just new planted trees does .
If the logging continues to carry on then the weathers around are world will become a lot hotter and very aggressive storms will become life threatening for humans just because humans can’t stop eating massive amounts meat 🥩 just because jobs and money are more important than life itself .
PLEASE SAY NO TO LOGGING and help protect the trees and the wildlife habitats that are so important to the world we live .
