Defune is written "出船" in Japanese. It means "departure of ship". The lyrics are about regretting parting ways with someone who is leaving on a boat.

Good Evening Daniel,
What a lovely piece. Quite sorrowful but it had a nice lyrical quality too. I will ask someone I know what Defune means. She is Japanese and I know her husband sometimes tunes in to your channel as he is a guitar teacher. My brother -in-law is half Japanese but he can just about count to 10 in Japanese so no use at all. He served in the British military and spent 30 years living in Germany having a wife and kids out there. When he met up with Anne's sister and moved back to the UK we had to teach him English again! Quite hilarious. He still uses German terms but in English so he doesn't have "Toe nails" he has "Foot Nails" which is his translation of Fuss Nagel.
Did you have to change the tuning to suit a Japanese Scale? Is it a Pentatonic tuning or do you still keep EADGBE?
Still cold and wet here so any chance of something a bit warmer for the next upload? A bit of Samba or Rumba emanating from Twin City might just alter the Jet Stream enough to bring us some fine sunny weather!

foot nails ....I like that -- it does define the anatomic location of those annoying little things you
have to clip every couple months or so.
The tuning is standard EADGBE, but I wish in a few spots I could alter the tuning to lessen the
reaches.
