  • Saraband in A minor by the famous Baroque lute composer Sylvius Leopold Weiss comes from the so called Krzeszów / Grüssau manuscript, a vast collection of lute music from lower Silesia,. The Sarabande form underwent a lot of changes after being implemented into the Baroque suite. From a light and sensuous dance with a reputation for lasciviousness it evolved into a sombre movement, sinuous, soft, but as Talbot described: „apt to move passions and to disturb tranquility of the mind”.

    La belleza de esa melodia me hizo encontrar el alba y sus tenues colores...

    BRAVO! Jarek, this is great you are posting Weiss so well played! Lute without Weiss is like piano without Chopin! Please do more! Great tone and such deep musicality. Thank you! Anton i Anna

    why the lemons and the sea shell?

    • @Lutnista
      @Lutnista  Před 18 dny +4

      Hi, thanks for asking. Lemons and shells are very common in Baroque still lifes. Their symbolism, as far as I could make out, is complex and sometimes contradictory: the lemon, for instance, has a wide range of bitter-sweet connotations. The shell likewise can mean lots of things, from birth to resurrection, depending how you look at it.
