How do you stay thin and fit tasting all this Wonderful food ? 😊 kind wishes from Iceland
We loved Alicante so much that we moved here earlier this year. Now we are Alicantinos, borrachos y finos.
Hi. I am thinking of retiring abroad from England. What is it like to live thre? All tips gratefully accepted
@@Jacquiquinn901You can not be wrong in almost any place in Spain, but Alicante is for sure one of the best places you can go to live. Great nightlife, great beaches and nature, great weather almost the whole year, great food like everywhere in the country, you have the sea but also mountain, nice people, plenty of activities to do, etc. And for me something that people don't normally consider but in my opinion it is important: Alicante is not one of the biggest cities of Spain but has one of the most important airports, which makes it easy to have a bigger traveling offers so you don't normally need to go far if you want to take a plane, as you normally would be able to flight from Alicante.
100% recommended.
😂😂😂
We are happy to have you in the nursing home of europe, please do not feel obligated to integrate, or speak the language or learn the culture what for right? feel free to just do your own thing in a gated comunity as yall do. Don´t forget to call yourself expat, so everyone knows you are an immigrant with money.
I love Spain love Spanish people love Spanish food love Spanish football just realized I have been wasting my life living in the wrong country
What country is that?
You spoke for me, I agree 1000%
I just moved to Madrid and I'm loving it! Started with language learning, it's never too late to start all over somewhere else.
Desperately trying to learn the language because I think the same.
@@AFVEHProbably either England (brexit!) or the US, in which case they never knew Alicante existed.
Going to Alicante on Tuesday for 10 days. Can't wait.
I'm jealous. Enjoy!!!
Te esperamos en Sento Rambla 😊
Finally, the long-awaited (by me) Alicante video! My favourite city in Spain, been going every year for the last 12 years - except during covid. It's got everything: beach, castle, great restaurants, amazing market, nightlife, history (the Spanish Republic ended here). It's definitely the most underrated city in Spain.
do you not get bored of going to the same place every year?
Ive been living here for 7 years, i think between the whole alicante city and towns, alicante city is the ugliest of them all, is incredible the magic that the camera made in this video, but the weather is very nice.
@@HugoAlvarezOjeda Alicante is beautiful and a great visit for a few days. Its also one of the most tourist friendly cities in Spain.
@@Answersonapostcardnot really, I travel quite a lot to new places so it's nice to come back to a familiar place that I love being in.
@Answersonapostcard my opinion only, a friend of mine who came from canada cannot believe how boring and ugly the experience inside alicante was. The food still super good and the beaches are the best
I’m from Alicante but studying in northern Italy right now and this video made me really homesick :’) you never know what you have until you don’t have it. Now I’m excited to go back home in summer!!
I like that you acknowledge your camera person, it feels more personal and it's just a classy move!
THIS is why I got hooked on your channel to begin with! No one does this type of video like you do, darling! NO ONE‼️More of this, please🙏🏼 Continued blessings for you, Yoli and your beautiful baby girl 💖
It’s a wonderful place to live! 7 years and counting.
After COVID, I thought I had to fulfill a dream and at least try living in Spain. I bought a one-way ticket with Ryanair, and now I've been here for three years and haven't regretted a second. Wonderful city. Wonderful people.love Alicante ❤
We love Alicante. We are lucky enough to have family living there. In 2023, we spent 3 weeks there with traveling to other parts of Spain during our stay.
Love Alicante Not too big, not too small, not too expensive.Lots to do and see.
I was in Alicante city in January and I really love it . I am undecided between Alicante and Valencia for retirement . I would love to watch a video comparing both cities .Keep up the good work .:))))
Never been to Alicante but I found my dream place in Estepona.
This is a very nice town. One more reason I want to live in Spain.
OMG another great place I will have to put into next time list.
Spain has a LOT to offer.
We absolutely loved Alicante when we visited! It really surprised us as we thought it would be a touristy coastal town, but the authenticity of the city blew us away! Wonderful video, James!
I was at the Alicante Market in September. It was fantastic.
¡Enhorabuena!
We are currently staying just north of Alicante and it is a wonderful part of Spain.
One of the beauties of the South Spain
Well, it is not in the South but East Spain. Alicante is in Levante (meaning the rise side = sunrise)
What a great video!! I will be in Triana, Sevilla in November for one month. I will be studying Flamenco and Spanish. I am an older dancer fulfilling a lifelong dream.
I love this for you...enjoy!!!
Please learn Spanis if that what you will like. But forget about *flamenco*. Sorry no one care about flamenco these days.
My loved mother homeland. Some day I will visit it. Que bien hablas español macho. Saludos desde Chile.
James and Yole never disappointed in their honest review and recommendation.
The best 👍👍👍
Great video as always!
We love living in Alicante centro.
We sold our house in San Diego, California & moved to Alicante over a year ago.
We then bought a flat and did a complete gut and ground up reforma.
The only regret we have is not doing it years earlier!
We appreciate all of the help you provide, muchas gracias!
Well deserved, Alicante is fantastic !
I’m a Brit living the good life in Mijas Costa (Malaga). This has been a true education. I had the wrong impression of Alicante. We’re going to visit soon. Thanks.
We moved to Alicante from Los Angeles November 2023 and we love it! So glad you enjoyed it.
i love Alicante , food, vibe and people in this city are incredible! So underrated because it's maybe the not prettiest.
The market is my favourite in the whole Spain. But underrated as in city as a whole? I wouldn't say so my self. Great video as ever 🫶
Yes, interesting video but exactly my thought: Alicante underrated?! After Malaga and Valencia, it seems the most hyped part of Spain (based on "moving to/retiring to/living in Spain" groups I've joined). Not saying it isn't lovely and, who knows, maybe I'll end up there. But undiscovered or un-hyped, compared to so many other glorious areas? Definitely not.
Thanks for the video. We have friends who live in the province (Almoradí, Guardamar del Segura) but have only driven through the city, Try the arroz con costra. It's as if a rice dish (not paella!) and a tortilla had a baby. ¡Delicioso!
Going in September!!! Can’t wait!!!!
Enjoy!
I've always wanted to go to Alicante. I always suspected it was a "hidden gem", and I LOVE the wines and vermouths from there!
I used to live in Alicante and now that i am in Canada i miss the city everyday, it's the perfect combination of a city that is not to big or small, laid back but also exiting.
The only problem there is that there is not a lot of work opportunity, i hope to go back and raise my kids there!
I've just added Alicante to my list!
Awesome!
OMG, I'm from Alicante myself but live in UK. I've been drooling for the entire video
So glad you managed get to my hometown. Moved here in 2020 and never looked back!!
So glad you're enjoying it!
At timecode 1:01 is the Central Market. Don’t miss the kiosk on the left of the main entrance. They sell among the best chocolate and the best turron I’ve ever bought, at very reasonable prices.
Hola James, what a great video, thank you so much for it ! Alicante looks really beautiful, the city, the beaches, the people and the food. Thanks a lot for sharing ! I really hope that yourself, Yolly and Lucia are doing well.
Try Elche next time. You won't regret it, promise!
Alicante, esta creada para amarla!!🧡🧡💛💛💚💚💙💙💜💜🤎🤎🤍🤍❣❣💔💔
I really like it, too. We live just over an hour away and many people around us have never been there. We have a lovely friendly Boutique hotel and often go for an overnight stay. We recently went to the MARQ museum. There was a fantastic permanent display and we caught the end of the Terracotta Army exhibition. Wonderful. We often eat at Sellos. The stuffed mushrooms are to die for❤
Alberto and Rebecca at AliOli are amazing!! Happy to see you working with them dude. Alicante is an awesome city. ❤
So wonderful that you came and that my city blew your mind away. That's what it does to people in regular basis. I came here for work 9 years ago, expecting absolutely nothing and 9 years later I keep falling in love with this city and with the entire province. Glad you put it out there
Fantastic video James. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love Alicante. I have both lived and worked there. I love it. Can't wait for your next broadcast.😀👍
Amazing timing on this video! When I was planning my Spanish trip in January this place caught my eye. I will literally be in Alicante in less than 3 weeks
That place looks amazing! I need to go there.
Great video. I visited Alicante for the first time this past April and was pleasantly surprised. I have always avoided thinking it was just a tourist trap but I found it lovely. I love a mercado, so I was in heaven and the food at Sento was fantastic.
I thought exactly the same. Last year we went for 11 days and it was amazing 11 days.
@@paweljankowski I was very happy to be wrong...just dont tell the Mr. lol!!!
My bucket list is growing! I think I need a bigger bucket!!!
Fantastic watch as always 🙏🏿💜
Alicante looks like a great place to eat wonderful food and walk around historic sites. Nice to see so many there to make sure you enjoyed the trip. Thanks James for taking us along.
Love Alicante, it has a lot to offer. Our last visit coincided with the San Juan fiesta - amazing. Such a pity many just land at the airport and don’t stay around to explore
James I’m so happy you finally visited Alicante City! I was in your first Spain Masterclass and the only person interested in Alicante. It wasn’t even on your radar at that time. I absolutely loved living in Alicante City!
Thanks de or sharing such an amazing experience in Alicante, I absolutely love every single region of Spain , I should say it in a better way : I Love Spain 🇪🇸❤️❤️
Love it! I want to go NOW! Thank you James 🥰
Thank you for this wonderful video of the city I was born, raised and still living here!
My best friend in college in Madrid was from Alicante. They have longaniza de pascua, which is my favorite sausage ever. The downside was that they don’t do tapas. But the nightlife and beach made up for it. When I lived there it was nicknamed “Madrid’s beach” since people from the city had a direct line by train. Their Centro looks a lot like Callao, so it is like a mini Madrid in places.
My city!!!! Glad you enjoyed your stay and not only visited the center of the city!
Alicante City has everything in my opinion. I was there last week. It was my 5th visit. Close to the airport, beaches, restaurants, bars, marina, market etc. Not touristy at all.
Great video. Congratulations. You know Spain better than me (smile)
Saludos desde Salamanca, España.
Had thr pleasure if visiting last yr. Must say Alicante and surrounding area are absolutely amazing. Will visit again
I miss your tours. I have been out of touch due to an accident, but I search for all your videos often. It's great to see how big and beautiful Lucia is. All the best... All good at my end now.
We were on a cruise which due to the Middle East got diverted to port at Alicante early january , We were amazed at how nice the place was and compared to Tenerife the market had much better quality produce, far more selection and lower prices..
Its a lovely place tbf.
Great video James. Congratulations!!
Gracias :)
We loved staying in Alicante last October .. we'll definitely be back..
Fantastic video! Thank you for showing such a wonderful place!
Thank you!
I'm coming at it from a UK point of view...maybe its different if you live elsewhere...but I think that the only thing we knew about Spain for decades was as a cheap tourist destination based around the Costa del Sol. Even in the 90s and 00s we learnt about Ibiza and Marbella...but only as upscale party destinations.
Since the late 00s/early 10s we have started to realise just how amazing Spain is...especially for its food.
Where previously we only knew about paella...then some basic tapas...we now know places like San Sebastian represent the highest level of culinary brilliance in Europe, if not the world.
One day people will start realising that Spanish Cava is as good as champagne...and much better than prossecco...just as it became obvious how much better iberico bellota is compared to prosciutto!
Alicante is one of my two fave cities on earth with San Francisco. Love it there
James, when Nancy & I visited Alicante, our AirBnB was a small sailboat. Loved the town.
Family went here for years, i visited first in 2016 and went yearly until corona. Great place! Just viaited alone in 2023 and was hit with nostalgia.
Thanks James and Ali-Oli Tours.. Alicante looks amazing, I've only spent a few hours there on the way to the airport. Wish I'd have known how cool it is and could have planned a stay there. Another place to add to my list of holiday destinations. Thanks for sharing! 🙂😋😎❤
Alicante is indeed a very nice city. I have been living in Altea for 23 years now and I was regularly in Alicante for my work as a real estate agent. In the hinterland of the Comunidad Valencia there are many nice authentic villages such as Biar, Villena, Jijona, Ontinyent, Busot, Tarbena, Pinoso and Jalon. Palmeras, Alfafara and Alzira in the Albufera Natural Park, the rice mining area around Valencia. Worth a visit.
How do you get to Alicante from the major airport?
Altea is the most beautiful place on earth!
@@lordmountbatten154 Beauty always is in the eye of the beholder🙂
@@heythave the Alicante airport has very regular and cheap bus service to the city center, or you can take a taxi for around €20.
@@free1dom11 Ok, thanks.
First time viewing your channel !
Impressed I’m Polish heritage so I love to hear and see Poland .
We have many travel challenges. We have a special need high functioning adult daughter. We are seniors my husband had a very successful kidney transplant.
So traveling outside of US would be difficult.
We compensate by utube traveling.Which I find very satisfying.
Thank you for sharing your adventures ☕️☕️🫶🏻🙋♀️🍷
James, if you are in this part of Spain again, pay a visit to Calpe. Its around 45 mins north of Alicante centre by car (1hr from airport), beautiful little town
James, thank you for this lovely video. Everytime I watch one of your videos I feel I should explore and appreciate my own country more!!😀 Alicante esperame que vengo!!😀
Gracias Maria!
Alicante also has a first class archaeology museum MARQ not far from the city centre.
My favourite type of your videos (and I love them all!). 😊 Food, history, culture, perfect. Wish you'd visited Almería as that's my next destination and there aren't good English speaking videos that I can find. If Alicante is not on a bucket list, Almería seems even less considered.
Would love to visit Almeria :)
James you have made me NEED to go to Alicante! Just like you i haveskippedit the 2 times I've been to Spain but no more. This is a must do now!
haha, have a great trip!
Papi! Que tal?
When I saw this on netflix Alba, I fell in love with it! I watched walk tour and so happy you are there!
Muy incerible!🇪🇸❤️💛❤️
Beautiful, James ! Very comforting to my soul ! Thank you for this video, no, this moving picture of timelessness. I will never forget the esplanade of palm trees. You know, Apollo was born under a bronze palm tree on the island of Delos. Of course, you already know that ! If I was able to travel again without dying of a blood clot, I'd fly to Alicante, visit those churches, walk between the palm trees, sit by the beach, and hang out at the market eating tapas every day. All the best from Australia, amigo !
Thank you!
Spain is sooooooo beautiful. For me is the PERFECT country. Wonderful people, great festivals, great culture and traditions, great weather, stunning landscapes, buildings and monuments and amaaaaszing food!
❤🇪🇸
You really showed Alicante from the best site. Great video. I would have also included the Espanada. It's great too.
It was in the video briefly.
I was in Alicante in December and the weather the city were amazing. We ate in a meat restaurant called los troncos. Increíbles las hamburguesas !!! Alicantinos muy hospitalarios y amables
I wonder if Alicante has really upped its game since my in-laws lived down the coast from there? I don't remember there being a tram to Denia, but we did enjoy the Esplanade, the market and it was very vibrant with the street market in the evenings. The summer we were there was the hottest on record, so we preferred exploring the beaches and mountains rather than the big towns. You certainly did a lovely job of showing off its considerable assets, I think it looks much more sophisticated than I remember it, which is encouraging - I liked it for it's authenticity. If you ever get the chance, you might try somewhere very low key - Chipiona, sticking out into the Atlantic, north of Cadiz - would be fascinated to see how it's fairing. Happy travels, James & John!
I went to Alicante last month on a cruise is beautiful love it
Fabuloso 🙌🙌🤩🤩‼️
Beautiful city 🎉!!
I've been all over Spain, but not here. I will go here some day! Let's Go Spain Euro 2024 🇪🇸 😎
I got that tram all the way to Benidorm and then when I got there I mentioned it in a bar and they said, do you realise there is a coach you can get all the way direct to the airport. 😄
Been through Alicante never stopped . Wow I missed out .
Alicante has always been a lovely city but busy with tourists.... It would take you most of your life to see all the wonderful cities in Spain... I have many favourite ones.... Tony cuenca
I"m glad you liked hometown😊. Next time you have to try "coca de mollitas con chocolate", so good 😋
James, these crops are available in the middle east, especially in southern of Iraq-Basrah! So I guess you know the history of Spain, so maybe it was brought to the Iberian peninsula from there! This a cucumber like thing, I believe they call it Tarah in Basrah. It's refreshing.. we use to eat those in the summer to cool down..
Best tours in Spain! If you go to Alicante, give Alioli tours a call. You won’t regret it!
Cool!!
I’ll be heading there again but this time to Alicate and Valencia in September can’t wait. Wish I could bumped into you guys. Question what’s the name or this Mercado
It’s the Mercado Central, located on Av Alfonso el Sabio and La Rambla Mendez Nuñez. Be aware that it closes early afternoon, 13h or 14h, depending on the day.
Awesome.
This is brilliant! As a Brit Alicante is always thought of as Benidorm! I’ll definitely visit there now 😊
Yeah, so many people understandably only know the towns up the coast. I hope you enjoy Alicante city when you get there :)
