Sagunto is great, as it's divide into two parts. You have the Port de Sagunt with it's sandy beaches, nightlife, Restraunts and so on. Then you have the more laid back old town which nestles below the awesome castle. It was 16' yesterday :-)

Congratulations, great video, as always. Next time do not miss Calp, and its "Avenida del Marisco" where you are invited to beer sangria and small tapas while you choose where to sit (or not).
Just one tip: rice and citric were introduced in the XVIII century because of the agricultural revolution that increased a lot the productivity of basics as wheat.
I would love to watch some similar video about Valencia, with L' Albufera, El PALMAR and all those restaurants at the island, and a long walk from their south beaches, adding it to Monforte gardens, and arts an science cty and la lonja space. Tourism office in Valencia should sponsor you.

Next time around, visit Jijona with its Christmas market and - of course - Turrón de Jijona. Don't expect a touristy town, because it is not. 25 minutes from San Juan/Campello with its 9km stretch of sandy beach, 25 minutes from Alicante and its Castillo de Santa Bárbara rising above the city. Happy to show you around :-)

Benidorm flats + a car rental is the cheapest option, and then visit each day one of the surrounding cities and villages, Denia Xabia Calp, Altea, Alfas del Pi, Vila Joiosa, Moraira, Alacant, Jalón and many more, you will not see it all in one holiday.

Hi James, I can attest that the Costa de Sol is night and day difference with weather. Madrid winters can be really frustrating and bipolar. One year ago we were still scraping ice off the streets and cleaning up broken branches everywhere from Filomena. Here in Málaga, I hardly wear a big jacket or scarf anymore, I go hiking 2-3 times a week, and I fall in love more and more with this part of Andalucía each and every day. It’s an adjustment moving from Madrid to here at first, but it’s easily one of the best places to live in Spain, if not the world. Hope you enjoy your stay down in this part of Spain, saludos.

We are counting down to our next trip and hope to expand into more hiking. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

7 years ago we bought a small bungalow in the north outskirts of Alicante City (cabo de Huertas) and was probably one of the best decisions in our life. Of course we vacation there all summers, but certainly we enjoy going there any other season during the whole year. Just 4 hours by car (only 2,5 hours by train, with public transport granted from door to door), makes quite easy to travel there from Madrid any weekend. Visiting Alicante during winter, autumn or spring time is much more relaxing then in summer, good weather is almost granted (not always, last time we travelled there last November we had “levante” windy conditions, a kind of strong wind that comes from the sea side with high degree of humidity resulting very unpleasant, but is not very frequent fortunately). We have enjoyed swimming in “calas” close to Alicante in November or March, and used sun tun creams in December. Places like Altea, Benidorm, Guadalest, Calpe or Alicante city, so crowded in summer time, are delicious to be walked at off peak seasons, and of course no mention to how easy is to find a good place to enjoy fantastic “gourmet experiences” in all kind of restaurants which result totally inaccesible in summer (fully booked). Alicante coast is a very nice place to live, and I hope to retire there and switch my leisure plans: to live in Alicante and travel to Madrid on weekends for living its stunning cultural and social life…. but just the weekends..!!!

Hi James! I love the videos you and Yoly are making, particularly the ones when you travel round Spain (Cuenca, Galicia, Caceres etc). As a Malagueno in the UK (Hence the lack of enye on my keyboard) it's great to see Spain again ....even Benidorm. I'm hoping to go back to Malaga to see my family in March - I can't wait! Thanks for bringing Spain a little bit closer when it has seemed so far recently. Also, i think Sierra Gelada is a Natural Park, not a National Park - it doesn't quite have that status of protection just yet. Looking forward to the next video! Perhaps around the Malaga region :)

James, Yoli and Lucia thanks for another great video. I was fortunate to have recently spent 5 weeks in Benidorm and over the years have made trips to Bodega Enrique Mendoza, Guadalest and the Waterfalls at Algar. My favourite pass time is to lose myself in the meandering streets of Old Town Benidorm, eating Tapas and practicing my limited Spanish on unsuspecting locals. Balcony del Mediteraneo at sunset is breathtaking. I've only been home 2 weeks and pining to go back. 7 weeks and counting...

Your place on the beach in Altea was so beautiful and relaxing. I am more of a summer person, but I'm sure the scene is not so peaceful in summer! I have been to both, they're very similar looking cities actually, but Alicante is about half the size and my favourite. I had one of my favourite ever trips to Alicante, and the food is just fantastic.

@@aftp6646 There are too many buildings in Canarias sadly. They over everywhere they could. Sadly no regulations existed in the 70s/80s for that.

We were there last summer on our boat. Stayed at the marina and really loved it there. Amazing that you can see Benidorm from the top of the old town! Two more different places you could not find in Spain.

I hear you. We’ve travelled with our three kids since they were babies and just packed them up and moved from Australia to Spain - two teenagers and an eight year old. Certainly makes for resilient adults. We hope!

We moved to Isla Canela 4 years ago and it is absolutely wonderful year round. The beach, Guadiana River and Portugal ten minutes away plus tennis , golf, kite boarding and paddle everywhere.

Hola! Beautiful video , today we have freezing weather in Florida USA 😱 and we are thinking of moving to Alicante , so we really enjoyed your video. We are getting ready to apply for a non lucrative visa because we visited Alicante and we fell in love with the old town 🥰 thank you again for a great video 👏👏

Thanks for the great content! We’re in Alicante now, and will be catching a sunset from the castle, this evening. We always like checking your channel for things to do. You always bring the goods! Much love to you and family. We’ll be flying out of Madrid on the 22nd, so we’ll be looking for spots in your hometown on the 20th! Cheers! Can’t wait to visit some tapas places and drink some wines you recommended in your vids. Double Cheers and Ciao

Stayed in benidorm 4 years ago, I found in benidorm you can experience complete opposites, either quiet times or mental times. visited Altea for a day and loved it. Cant wait to return

Hello Steven! My husband and I stayed in Benidorm 5 years ago and took a day trip to Altea for the day. We even met some young women that lived in the same city as us in North Carolina! Small world. We had a wonderful time. Trying to get back to Spain. Had to cancel when Covid hit, but we have reservations for May. Wish us luck. 😊

JAMES! This one even I know, Arroz Caldoso! I’ve made it already! Since I am not in Spain, and where I live, I asked for paella once in a “Spanish” restaurant 🤢😐 never more! I watch Spain in a fork, and I make it myself at home! For paella I follow a family recipe! 🥘
