- Why you should visit ALICANTE in Spain: We spent a week in Alicante and the city really surprised us in a good way. We think Alicante is a perfect city and beach break destination and in this video we'll show you why we like it here so much!
Alicante offers a great mix of nice food, vibes and of course - a city beach with beautiful water that is easy to reach from the city center. In this video we'll show you a day in Alicante starting with breakfast at our favourite cafe, a visit to the Central Market and a cute museum, delicious Arroz (Paella) lunch, Alicante's beach and finally, tasting vermouth at one of our favourite bars.

If you can help it, try avoiding the city beach (El Postiguet). It's usually the dirtiest of the city, and the most packed. If you're close by, try getting the tram for 10 min and get to Playa de San Juan, where there's a 14km beach with fewer people and usually cleaner. If you've got a car and you might want to explore one of the many many beaches around the city that offer crystalline clear waters.
Also, as opposed to Valencia, we're known for many types of rice dishes. The most common ones could be Arroz a banda or Arroz del senyoret, but you can get dozens of types in every place.
Last year I went to Spain for the first time. I did Valencia + Alicante 🤩 both cities are so underrated -- stunning architectures, buzzing markets and incredible food. Ah, and congrats on 20k.
Thank you very much! ☺ Yes, both Alicante and Valencia are fantastic cities (we'll also post a video of our time in Valencia soon)! We had a lot of fun just walking around, enjoying the architecture and tasting a variety of different dishes.
I didn't know, Alicante is so interesting, I definitely have to go there sometime! 😊
MANY THANKS !
Glad you enjoyed our video! 😊
I like Alicante ❤
Great video guys. Love your style. Visited Alicante & Valencia 2018. Both great cities. Back to Alicante for a week on Sunday. Only 2 sleeps to go!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed our video! 😊 We'll also be coming back to Alicante in the future. Hope you have a great time there!
Thanks for introducing us to Cafe Jevole - we'd never have gone along that street and discovered it. We ended up having breakfast there every day of our stay!
That makes us happy to hear, glad you had a good time! 😊
20 000, congrats! :) Nice video again.
Thank you very much! ☺
Brilliant vidoe thank u ❤
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Hi, I really enjoyed the video, we are booked for a week in Oct will try out your recommendations .
Thank you, hope you have a great time! 🙂
Me a couple of hours ago: why don’t we move to Spain?
My wife: why not.
Me: Alicante looks pretty good.
My wife: let’s see some videos…
Thank you Zoe and Simon!😂
Glad we could help (potentially influence your future)! 😁
Guessing you haven't toured around Benidorm some parts are beautiful especially the old town
Thank you for this lovely video! I wrote a lot of information down, as this week I'll be visiting Alicante together with my boyfriend. So of course I gotta study up to be a skilled travel guide 🤓
Thank you, that's great to hear! Hope you have a fantastic time in Alicante! 😊
FYI ……….Gravy is a sauce you make and have with a Roast dinner here in the Uk ! 😊
Spains 5th busiest airport more than 20 million tourists a year and a region with loads of holiday homes its not exactly a hidden gem but I agree the area is fantastic we go every year. Nice video!
Thank you, yeah Alicante definitely isn't a hidden gem, but we've found that there are many misconceptions about the place. And once people visit, chances are high that they'll want to go back (as is the case with us) 😊
you can also go for a cortado if you want a coffee with less milk.
09:45 awww you guys are couple goals. Hope to see you in Canada soon!
We'd love to visit Canada soon! 😊
Great job guys. You captured my attention from the beginning till the end. You have a great energy. Can't wait for the next one. Cheers😇
Thank you very much, we're happy to hear that! 😊
I’m your biggest fan ❤
Thank you for your support! 😊
Love your filming / vlogging style :)
Thank you very much! 🤗
fun video. alicante seems to be quite nice. 😅
It definitely is! 😊
Enjoy your day guys. Great video!
Thank you! 😊
great video, thanks for the suggestions of places to eat and drink!
Thank you, glad to hear our video was helpful!
going to Alicante in a couple of weeks so will look for some of the cafes and restaurants that you recommended! Planning to move there actually...@@ZoeandSimon
Sounds like a great plan, we also wouldn't mind living in Alicante for a while 😊 Hope you have a really nice time!
Thank you! I was there in March for two weeks for a first visit and what I liked most was that the people were very friendly and helpful and had manners. Unfortunately, that was often not the case in Mallorca, where I lived for quite a few years. Stayed in San Juan Playa which was nice, but did not spend much time in the city center, so hope to get to know it a bit better this time :)@@ZoeandSimon
Ok that Arroz dish looks amazing! 🤗
It was a really good one! 😋🥘
you forgot La Sede pub, good place to go at night to get incredible shots and cocktails
Thanks, we'll give it a shot next time! 😊
Nice video and selection, guys! Loved it and took notes of pretty much all to check out while here with family in Alicante! 😘
Cheers from a Brazilian family that used to live in NRW! 🇩🇪
Very nice, thank you very much! Hope you have a great time! 😊
Thanks for watching and thank you so much for 20k subscribers! ❤ We've loved sharing our videos with you and interacting with so many of you in the comments and on Instagram. And we're SO excited for more to come! In our next videos from our trip through Spain we'll also be visiting the Spanish countryside, as well as Madrid and Valencia. So be sure to subscribe and join us our trip! ☺🇪🇸
Thank you so much for suggesting the ‘Jevole’ coffee shop, my girlfriend and I were stayed in Alicante for a week last week and we went in there everyday. You guys are awesome, keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind words, we're happy to hear you enjoyed the place! 😊
How about Galacia.? Almost a Spanish version of the Lake District. Happy new year guys 🍻
Nice video! Thanks for recommendations! :)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed our video! 😊
Hey Zoe and Simon, I was wondering what type of software do you guys use for editing your videos. I personally use Capcut but I want to find other options aswell. Congrats on 20K. Keep it up!
Thank you very much! 😊 We use DaVinci Resolve to edit our videos, but used Final Cut Pro before. Both programs are great in their own way! DaVinci also has a free version that can do quite a lot, although the learning curve is probably a bit steeper. Hope that helps! 🙂
@@ZoeandSimon Thanks for letting me know!
Alicante is one the more touristic provinces in Spain, Costa Blanca is well known around Europe and the 70% of tourism in Valencia Region comes to Alicante. Alicante airport due to the tourism is the 5th busiest in Spain after Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca and Málaga, so I wouldn't say is not considered to visit xD
I dont understand why every travel vlogger every 90% films themselves and 10% of the time the actual location... ?????
To be honest, it depends on the preferences of the video creator, but we try to film as much of the location as we can. But there's only so much material we can film without it taking way too much time. And when you cut down all of the video material to the best parts, it's natural that the parts where people are speaking are much longer than the location material. So I don't think that what you are mentioning is down to all video creators being overly narcissistic (although that's probably also the case sometimes 😁), but it's mainly down to how much video material is available.
I’m hoping to visit Alicante the end of May. Thanks for all these suggestions! Do you feel it’s safe for a single retired lady? I speak intermediate level Spanish.
Glad you enjoyed the video! From everything we know and have experienced Alicante is very safe 🙂
Where is good to stay hotel wise?
Hopefully it isn't too rude of me to make some corrections, but here are a couple of pronunciation tips in case it helps anyone:
Alicante = ah-lee-KAHN-tay (you were both pronouncing the last syllable more like "-tuh")
Hogueras = oh-GARE-us (not exactly that pronunciation, but it's close. Of particular note, you don't pronounce the 'u' in Spanish after a 'g' unless it has an umlaut over it, e.g., vergüenza = bear-GWEN-thuh).
Anyway, I enjoyed the video very much. I lived in Alicante for about three years just about two decades ago and I'll be visiting this fall for the first time since I left.
Your video brought back some memories and also introduced me to some new things. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed our video! And we're always open for pronounciation tips 😁 Hope you have a great time back in Alicante!
Glad you took the tips in stride. Sometimes people feel challenged by similar suggestions instead of taking them as constructive criticism, as they are intended.
Thanks for the good wishes. I'm very excited for my trip!
Arroz is not paella. You can get paella throughout Spain but it comes the Valencia region. They are two vastly different dishes.
The mushrooms were installed 3 or 4 years ago. Their only purpose is to draw tourists like yourselves. It does seem to be working.
You are lucky you get to travel with such a beautiful girl : )
I would say the same thing !!! lucky guy !!
Did someone say ryanair flights? 😮😍
That will always get our attention! 😁
Great video
Hoping to Ryan air from hamburg to alicante in november!
When did you film this? Which month?
This was in June 🙂
According to your video footage, the water didn’t look very turquoise. It was quite dark. Can anyone comment on this?

English pronounce it Alicantay 🙂
EU FUI FURTADA durante o check-in. Não recebi assistência do hotel, e os Policiais me informaram que, mesmo eu indicando a localização do Bud2 que estava na mochila furtada, não tinham o que fazer. Todos agem como se a cidade fosse segura.
Alcohol is not a good idea. Not any amount.
Paella valenciana is made of meat. Seafood rice is typical from Alicante. Seafood paella doesn't exist really.
As a visitor not local or expert, I find the tastiest Paella is one with Rabbit.
