  • Simple and to the point video showing how to do an easy repair of a Mercedes ignition switch. The Mercedes EIS (electronic ignition switch) module is well known to fail, causing no start, no crank, and even no accessory or no power conditions when turning the key.
    This video shows how simple it is to repair yourself, in a matter of minutes, what would cost hundreds of dollars to repair at a dealer.
    The Mercedes ignition switches fail because of broken solder joints on a small 3-pin connector inside of the switch module. It's very easy to remove from the dash, and very easy to disassemble the switch to get to the connector and resolder it.
    In this video, I quickly and succinctly show you how to do everything you need to do to make your Mercedes key switch start like it's brand new again.

    It worked! Mine had been intermittently failing for a few months, but never actually left me stranded. Figured it was just a matter of time, and would be an expensive dealer item for the fix, so was getting ready to bite the bullet when I stumbled across your vid. Verified it with a couple of other vids, followed your instructions ... and peace of mind has returned. Many thanks for posting this!

    My R350 push button start stopped working and the mechanic said a module needs to be replaced. Is this the module they’re likely talking about? Thanks for the video

    Curious how you determined where to start to remove the panels? I would have started pulling and broke something. Thanks

    Thanks for the video well done. Would this piece have anything to do with intermittent AC loss of cooling? Sometimes it blows cold sometimes its warm. Just curious. Thanks

    • @PrairieCordgrass
      @PrairieCordgrass  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I wouldn't think it would affect the AC. Perhaps a faulty clutch on the compressor, or low freon so the compressor kicks out on a low pressure condition.

      @PrairieCordgrass thank you. I attempted to solder the pins today unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. I assume the solder must not touch the other pins on that board? After trying a few times I pretty much ruined the little pin plug in. 😕 rookie!

    I am having issues with my Mercedes going from drive to park from 0 to 3mph slow speed, and based on my research at the Mercedes forums the culprit is the EIS module. Are you aware of this symptoms as well? They are saying it can also be a defective Diode. Any ways I would like to hear from you before I remove mine. Thanks in advance

    • @PrairieCordgrass
      @PrairieCordgrass  Před měsícem

      No, I'm not aware of that symptom, but then I was only working on mine for the intermittent/no start problem.
      If the problem you're having is caused by a diode on the EIS, it should be pretty easy to remove, test, and replace if needed.

    So this is only if the key turns and nothing happens, not for a key that won't turn right?

      @PrairieCordgrass  Před rokem +2

      Yes, This fixes the problem where the key turns but no electrical connection (no engine cranking) is made.

    When i put my key it always turns but when i put it 2 position 1 sometimes its like the car is dead and the lights wont come on and when i try and start the engine nothing happens. Is this the same symptoms your car was having?

    • @PrairieCordgrass
      @PrairieCordgrass  Před 11 měsíci

      If you just got the key programmed, and it never started the car, I would think it's probably bad programming of the key.
