Another possible quick solution…open the key, remove all the inner bits, shake it/tap it to remove pocket fluff, put it back together again. Sometimes fluff blocks the infrared reader from communicating with the ignition.
Wrong. His esl has failed. No key sound. Very common I have 2-3 per year come in with this issue. Easy fix, get a bypass and re program key and ignition system.

Im going thru the same issue right now. You need a scanner whatever the EIS( ignition switch is bad) or key..but in my case its the shifter unfortunately its a dealership issue part only. Cuz it needs to be program with your Vin. Now you can go the the junkyard get all but next year inspection is a big issue...good luck tho

I had a similar problem with one fob. I replaced the batteries but it still didn't turn , though the central locking now did. I used the spare fob and that DID turn the ignition. What was the problem with the first fob (which still wont turn in the ignition)?

My problem was broken ESL but it was quite hard to investigate where problem.. But ESL problem was clearly mechanical. When I started to drill it open it started to work but it was too late, it was already in pieces. I was thinking then that maybe some impact on ESL cover would get it working 😕
Hi my GlK 350 2010 start at first but won't shift to drive or reverse ,so i off it and wont start again it was showing light in the parking lights wont let it shift then i have to start it from the fuse it only sound to start but it wont start , i have drive it all around with no problem but after 20mins it wont start anymore thats when i had the problem started
Yes, it was stuck ESL, electronic steering wheel lock. I had that repaired by specialist and after that car was Ok. Bit difficult to remove that ESL while it is locked, you have to partially break it, but there are instructions in web if you google.

Just happened to me now, mine is a A170 hatchback. Key won't turn, steering wheel is locked nothing is working 😢 HELP

Turn the steering wheel as far as you can until the key turns. Steering isnt aligned to allow the key to turn.
