  • In this live CZcams video, I discussed a challenging sentencing outcome for a doctor in the Northeast. Several months ago, the doctor and his brother called me. The brother dominated the conversation, insisting on the need for preparation, while the doctor was reluctant and didn't believe his efforts would make a difference. I emphasized that no one can be guilted into preparing and that an authentic commitment is essential for the best outcome. Despite the brother's dedication to doing the work, I told them it would only make sense to proceed with the doctor's genuine commitment to preparing for sentencing.
Unfortunately, the doctor did not prepare and learned the hard way at his sentencing hearing. The judge, feeling the doctor's statements were insincere and lacking in substance, imposed a much longer sentence than expected. The doctor’s repeated apologies-"I'm sorry, Your Honor. I didn’t mean to do it, Your Honor. I’ll never do it again, Your Honor"-were dismissed as empty words without a concrete plan or actions to back them up.
This case illustrates that superficial assurances, or "happy talk," are ineffective. True preparation requires developing skills and working diligently daily to influence even the most skeptical judge. Regrettably, the doctor now understands the importance of authentic preparation too late. This story is a powerful reminder that genuine commitment and proactive steps are crucial in achieving the best possible outcomes at sentencing--or any stage of the journey.

Absolutely RIGHT!!! Whatever you or friend or family member is going through with the Federal Government, YOU must hear what Justin is saying. They are not playing. You were indicted or are being investigated because of your CHOICES, not your mistakes. Please understand you do NOT know what is coming towards you or your family and you want to start preparing early for you best possible outcome. I understand you may be thinking it is not true and you did not do it and maybe you didn’t but thinking you can prepare by yourself and stay in denial will harm you and your loved ones. I did not initially accept my intent to break the law, however, breaking the law does not have to have intent. Please hear Justin’s story and heed his plea. There is a way to prepare and my story was just as he said it. What’s the worst that can happen? You prepare and no indictment or you win at trial. The worst thing you can do is lose it all. 97% of indictments lead to a sentence. Please hear Justin. Hire him and his team. He helped me get a 33 month sentence and the government was pushing for a 51 month sentence and I was home in 10 months. Let me know if I can talk to you personally. Great job Justin. So TRUE !!!!!

Justin…Doctors are those students in high school that were smart and knew it. So, they grow up thinking they are smarter than everybody else. Then they go stupid and do the dumbest thing possible which is having anything to do with referral fees. There should be on all medical degrees- “Thou Shall Not Accept Referral Fees. Thou Shall Not Offer Referral Fees. Thou Shall Run For The Hills When Hearing The Words Referral Fees.” The doctor in your case got his wings clipped when he learned the feds play hard ball and throw 95 mph fast balls across the plate and this isn’t whiffle ball when you play baseball with the feds. The doctor was eating a buffet of humble pie and it was hard for him to learn that he was not the brightest nor was he ready for the lesson of a lifetime which is dealing with the federal judicial system.

You are correct. Democrat Congressman Pete Stark (CA) hated private practice doctors because they usually vote Republican.
He made almost ANY paid physician referral a felony.
Yet he had nothing to say about the very high cost of college for physicians.
