      How is he overrated when he won everything in football individually and team trophies

    • @VictorHugo-bi8wi
      @VictorHugo-bi8wi Před 2 lety

      @@DBDYAKU Zidane sneaks into this debate essentially for winning two trophies: The World Cup in '98 and the Champions in 2002.
      About the '98 WC, France was home club and everything was arranged for France to win it. Still, France barely managed to get into the final after beating Paraguay in the last minute, beating Italy in the penalties and suffering to defeat Croatia.
      It must be said that Zidane was suspended in the last game of the group stages and against Paraguay after receiving a red card and France had to battle without him. Then Zidane returned against Italy and Croatia and he played well, but wasn't decisive because he didn't score nor assist. In this matches, Leblanc, the penalties and Thuram where the ones who kept France alive while Zidane was in the second line.
      Then he played the final against Brazil, a team that was crumbling after Ronaldo had an episode before the final. So Zidane scored 2 goals and people still believe Zidane was decisive all over the WC and thus won the Ballon D'Or and everything that year, but in reality France wasn't lead by Zidane and rather was a good team where every player did a little part. Same could be said about France winning the Euro in 2000.
      About the Champions, Zidane lost 2 finals in Juventus in 96 (I think) and 98 against Dortmund and Real Madrid, both times Juventus was favorite and yet they lost and Zidane wasn't decisive nor couldn't turn things around for his team because he was a good player but not like Maradona or Ronaldo in the sense they could single handily carry their teams on their shoulders.
      So eventually Zidane decided to move in 2001 to Real Madrid, a team that had won 2 Champions in the previous 4 years because obviously he knew it would be easy to win in a team that was already in a team that was already winning.
      Still, it must be said that Real Madrid won more titles in the 5 years before Zidane (96-2001) than in the 5 years 'Zizou' played (2001-06).
      In conclusion, winning a lot of titles doesn't make a player automatically "Great" because for that matter Iniesta or Xavi would be way greater than Zidane and I wouldn't include either of them in this list.

    You really made the best out of this incredibly hard list. Of course you got a lot of critic because of Zidane and Charlton, but tbh everything you said is true. A lot of people confound great players with likeable players. Zidane is my favourite player in history and is far mire likeable than Platini, but there is no doubt about the fact Platini was better.
    Cruijff probably is the most likeable player in history and one of the most intelligent, but it his true that Di Stefano and Maradona both had better careers and stats. He is one all of the best of all times, but not better than those two. Even id nearly everyone in the world likes him better.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan Před 6 lety +4

      Maradona is overrated, never won the top continental cup for clubs or country and Argentina did better without him in his career. His one world cup win was thanks to cheating. Cruijff was the visionary general and master of total football, star of 74 world cup, sadly missed the 78 world cup finals, but had a magnificent career anyway as star of dominant Ajax and also Barcelona, where he was more important than Maradona. He played a crucial part in the development of the sport and must be in the all-time top 3 with Pelé and Messi. Di Stefano scored loads of goals and won European cups in probably the greatest club side of all, alongside Puskas, but didn't play in a world cup finals, the one major drawback to his reputation. Platini (I'm not keen on him either) is underrated now but was quite brilliant, another intelligent general and outstanding for France in 84 Euros, unlucky in 82 world cup with the infamous defeats to West Germany, otherwise he might be a regular in lists of the top 5 of all time.

    Jay Jay Okocha or Abedi Pele must be in the honorable mentions, in the minimun...
    i dont even say more but only say this, Anderson Luís de Souza a.k.a "Deco" is not a name that a lot can remember, but for me is always a name to be remembered, and to all fans of football in the World.
    like i say, good video, make the central midfielder like a lot ask for (for Xavi be nº1, obvious), there are 11 positions in football
    goalkeeper, right back, center back, left back, defensive midfielder, centre midfielder, right midfielder/winger, left midfielder/winger, attacking midfielder, second striker and Striker
    maybe Romário must be in the SS role :v

    Who is the guy at 0:48 : Heinz Flohe ? The jersey and its number (at WC 1978) and the face makes me feel quite sure it's him.

      @HITCSevens  Před 6 lety

      Hi Lex, I just replied to one of your previous comments, but Raich Carter was a brilliant inside-forward from the 1930's and 40's. He was the youngest man to captain a team to First Division and FA Cup success, and the only man to win an FA Cup before and after the war. Carter was a clever footballer, always picking up pockets of space, who was a real entertainer and a prolific scorer.
      At 0:48, I'm pretty sure that's Gunter Netzer.

      Thanks for replying. Raich Carter is the only one I don't know in your list. No wonder, 1930s-1940s, the same generation as the likes of Giuseppe Meaza, right ?
      As for the player at 0:48. No, it's not Gunter Netzer, because Netzer was blondie, and I know his face.
      It's still a puzzle for me and for other people. But I am quite sure it's Heinz Flohe, Germany midfielder at WC 1978.
      We have to make sure the jersey number was 10, 20 or 30.
      Looking at the picture, it's more likely around 1970s. Netzer wore number 10 at WC 1974, Flohe wore it at WC 1978.
      But the face is more like Rainer Bonhoff who wore number 16 and 6 at WC 1974 and WC 1978, respectively.
      Can you flip that picture so we can see his face completely ? :)

      Yes, similar eras. Played against each other once. When I search for Heinz Flohe in our image database that photo doesn't come up. I can only think I'd search for Netzer or Schuster, so I'm at a loss Lex!

      Schuster didn't wear number 10. It's Hansi Muller who wore number 10 at Euro 1980 and WC 1982. But I know Hansi's face and hairstyle. It's more like Dieter Muller than Hansi.
      Felix Magath wore it at WC 1986, Lothar Mattheus at WC 1990. But surely, it's not one of them.
      Btw, actually who would you want to mention when you add that picture ? Netzer, right ?
      However, I am still curious, can you tell me from what source did you get the picture ? Maybe I can search in that source to find out who the guy is.

    Why is there always a member of the 1966 England world champion squad in every one of these videos as soon as I seen one of those very overrated players be on the list I stop watching it’s not like that’s the best team to ever win the World Cup they just benefited from very bad calls in the final and semifinals pretty decent lists just exclude almost every British player in all the lists except George best the rest are just icons in England everywhere else in the world they aren’t even in the top 20 players of all time

      Simply put Juan, there isn't. Out of the 70 players to feature in this series, only 3 are from England's '66 squad, and all three were incredible players.

      We didn't 'miss' Xavi, he featured in the video, we just consider seven players to have been better than him.

    You said Zizou is at number 7 because he was inconsistent in finals, you put Zico at number 5 and he won nothing outside of brazil.

    • @HITCSevens
      @HITCSevens  Před 6 lety +2

      No he is seventh due to lacking consistency and being less effective than those ahead of him. We just mentioned his record in finals as people often mention '98, 2000 and 2002, overlooking his 3 other major finals.
