Lasha-Giorgi Kokaia do u realise that messi is the all time leading goal scorer in those competition because he has played longer than cr7 in those competions like la liga, el clasico and catalan derbies. Ronaldo only joined real in the 09/10 season while messi made his barca debut in the 04/05 season, that is a long time difference. So obviously he will be ahead of cr7 in those competions. Ronaldo is the top.scorer in the ucl history and also has more goals in his career than messi does, despite starting off as a winger

I’ve made loads of all time xi’s myself but it is like the hardest XI to make in football. You have to split it into era’s. I think you lot did a brilliant job but it is mostly opinionated because of all the world class players we’ve seen for the last century. These niggas from hitc put legendary players from the 1950's... imo theyre irrelevant now since football from back then wasnt so physical and demanding honestly, the defenders looked like they wouldnt even try and the gks were easily scored on. I'll give em credit for everything they've won, but i'd definitely would like to see those old legends try to dribble past the defense of Barca 2011 or score amazing goals against man utd 2000, bayern 2013 or real madrid 2016 or arsenal's invincibles:)

Obviously, FIFA is different then real life. In the video game, I start Charles at center forward, and sprint back on defense every play. Obviously, there are teams that are quite fast on the counter, but, lets be honest, most such attempts dont end up resulting in goals, so the slower buildup of the back doesnt end up mattering as much. Charles is maybe the best heading scorer of all-time, an accurate and powerful shooter, and an elite defender. Baresi is for sure the more effective defender.

I know its super hard to kick some out, but where are Zidane, Matthäus and Platini? Some of the greatest CM in football history for me.
Matthaus should be included instead of Bozsik. ZIdane and Platini can't be included, as he already has Maradona, Di Stéfano and Cruyff, which were even better than the to frenchmen.

I ‘grew up’ with this guy from the beginning of his career and I don’t recall him reaching his highest level of being ‘a great’ until 1990, when he was almost 30. Of course he was an excellent player throughout his career, but it took a long time over the course of his career, if at all that he was considered an ‘all time great”. He was not nearly as gifted or as skillful as his contemporary Ruud Guillit, who was a far superior player and really is an all time great - sadly underrated by many. It’s almost like there is a level of historic revisionism with Matthaus, in part because he ended up playing so long and therefore becoming a living legend. He also wasn’t really a defensive midfielder as many seem to claim - he was a number 8 mostly, before being played as a no.10 in 1990. Rijkaatd was a far superior defensive midfielder. Based on the length of his career and his achievements, he is arguably the second greatest German player of all time but he should be nowhere near this team or even squad.

I'd probably take Bobby Moore over Charles. Both Pele and Best described him as the best defender they faced.

The only player that came close to R9 before he started having those serious knee injuries is Maradonna. Even Pele never dared it. Even after 2 serious Knee operations he came back winning the WC and other trophies. The truth is, R9 is the best number 9 that has ever existed. He made the entire half of his opponent part of the pitch his home. He revolutionized the strikers game and coaches changed the architectural structure of their defence because of the way he played and that remained forever. CR7 and Messi are miles behind R9. It has been great set of videos. You guys have a great knowledge about the history of soccer. I remember when I was a kid my older brother bought me a book about the history of the world cup, and I am surprised unlike most of the soccer channels not only you have complete knowledge about that history, but also you have gone beyond that. The only objection I have is that most of the British soccer channels - including you - are biased in favor of British soccer players (or countries close to Britain like Ireland).It has happened both in your top seven videos and top 11. For example, having Gordon banks, Stanley Matthews, and John Charles in your top 23 and top 11 list. Overall you have too many British soccer players relative to the quality of them in all of your lists.
Hi Sohrab, thanks for your kind words. Obviously I disagree that I have any kind of British bias, I took a lot of flack for rating the likes of Best, Keegan and Dalglish lower than many people would have liked. Banks is a six-time FIFA World Goalkeeper of the Year, Stanley Matthews is at least the second greatest right winger of all time and John Charles was the complete footballing centre-half. We had to pick him, otherwise there was a chance our opposition would, and we wouldn't want to come up against him!

Warw.. I have never ever agreed that much on an all-time XI.
I would switch Baresi with Cafu in the defence and switch George Best with a more defensive/central midfielder just to get som balance. You already have a lot of offensive players. I would probably choose Rijkaard, Xavi or Didi - or probably Andrade like in the video.
Haven't watched the series but I am surprised that George Best didn't get in, and Bert trautman not even mentioned both very underrated imo
It's absolutely normal to diverge when it comes to the best XI ever. The only shocking surprise was Ronaldo not making the 23. There's also Zidane. Matthaus (for balance with his defensive ability and dynamism) and Ronaldo 9 should be in the squad, I think. I'm delighted you include the little known Andrade: close call between him and Matthaus for that position. You have an admirable respect for history. Purely for balance, I agree with having John Charles alongside Beckenbauer, otherwise I would have picked Baresi or underrated Scirea. You have a slight British bias. Nonsense. The game may be faster, but in the past conditions were worse (facilities to players, equipment, pitch etc) and defending was much more hard core. Most red card tackles today were barely fouls back in the day, just ask Maradona. Pretty sure Garrincha, Pele would still kill any defence even today
today’s football is way more tactical , much more moving off the ball , player-marking and defensive tactics .
This XI gets turned over every single week, the classic 4-1-5 formation, how you gonna play Garrincha, Ronaldo, Maradona, Pele and Messi in one team, just choose a front 3 and add 2 more midfielders, even on the bench you only had 1 more midfielder, the rest were wingers.

You should use Charles as a substitute. Baresi and Moore are as good in the defence as the Welshman, and if you use Charles as a super-substitute, it gives you more opportunities from the bench, because he can play in different positions.

If you watch the positional videos, Daniel, you'll see why they missed out. If memory serves me right, Zidane came 7th in attacking midfielders, Van Basten was an honourable mention for centre-forwards and Matthaus third among defensive midfielders.
