      The only 2 things I would say is personally I think both Moore and Banks were better in 1970 than 66 although the squad was slightly worse and the Anathema of that great Brazil squad only beat them 1-0 and that Brazil squad was the greatest team to ever pull on a pair of boots

      @@voidvector6676 yeah it's strange, how can someone like me who's only a young man can appreciate players from the 50s and 60s yet not many people seem to be unable to understand the pure talent of players back then. What I find amazing is players like George Best who could drink and smoke to no end and still put in an unbelievable performance in on the pitch the next day

    Thanks for picking Jimmy Armfield at right-back, one of the most underrated full backs of all time and a truly world class player in my opinion and a better player than Gary Neville. One of the first attack minded full-backs to play the game, I'm really happy you included him in you're team.

    Even though I don't know half these players, I'm not going to complain. At least this gives an opportunity to learn about some old players that probably need some love. It's all just a fun thought experiment at the end of the day.

    Stanley Matthews actually regarded Carter as his ideal inside forward partner although Carter never enjoyed playing with him funnily enough because he didn't know when he was going to get the ball back whenever he gave it to him.

    I would have put Bob Paisley as manager , England’s most successful manager of all time . Won 3 European cups never mind cloughs 2 and won countless league titles

      Thomas Metcalfe you have to realise that clough got derby a league title 2 years after getting them promoted, also got newly promoted forest a league title, 2 ucls and 2 league cups within 2 years

    i get that players from long ago were as talented as players now but i feel like this guy goes too far the other way and overlooks more recent players and slightly over rates old ones to make more interesting content

      Ye but England have been playing football consistently well since 1860s so there’s a lot of choices and he only put in 1 from post 1990 when there should’ve been 2 or 3 I think

    Can you do a more modern England eleven, maybe post 1990? I love soccer history, but it’s slightly disappointing because I’ve never seen any of these players play. I’m not one of those people who don’t think anything before ‘90 counts, but I’d just like to see this

    I'm surprised you never mentioned Johnny Haynes in you're entire video, not even an honourable mention. Many people including Pele always regarded him amongst the finest passers of a football there's ever been.

      My grandad went to school with him. A truly brilliant footballer and a very important figure in the history of the professional game, being the first 100 pound a week player. There's not enough superlatives in the world for Haynes. Magnificent.

      @@olayinkaamara385 I remember my grandad telling me that Johnny was a year younger and so had to play in goal sometimes at lunch! One day he put the ball down at his feet, dribbled it the whole length of the playground, rounded the keeper and walked the ball in to the net. He turned around and dryly said "can I play in midfield now?"

    The 1980s 90s and 2000s was a golden generation. This is just the 1950s period apart from Ashley Cole

      I think Finney & Edwards are the only player in this XI that won the majority of their England caps in the 1950's, Brian (Matthews about 50%). England never showed themselves to be the best team in the world in the 80's, 90's & 2000's, they did in the late 1940's and in '66.

    I think it would be more interesting to have top seven players of all time for each country. XI videos are also fun, but it would be interesting to have both types.

    Not bad. As it's fantasy I'd take out the full backs and go with a 3-4-3 formation.
    This would be my post WW2 side
    Goalkeeper - Gordon Banks
    Defenders - Neil Franklin, Duncan Edwards and Bobby Moore
    Midfield - Stanley Matthews, Bryan Robson, Bobby Charlton and Tom Finney

    We need kids these days to learn about the greatest ever, Duncan Edwards. Not just saying that either, listen to Winterbottom, Sir Bobby Charlton, Di Stefano, those who saw him play they say he was the best. And that was at only 20 years old before he died... such a tragedy he's never mentioned in the Pele, Maradona convos bc his life was cut so short

    Love it when players who make 10 appearances for the national team get in the team just because they were 'great' and played a handful of club games. Imo you have to have played a certain amount of games to be one of the best players for that national team. If Messi played 5 matches for Argentina he wouldn't make the 11, despite being one of the best ever players.
