- Jim Ratcliffe is ranked by Forbes as Britain's richest billionaire, with a net worth of $17 billion, or £12.3 billion - but rather than buying a Premier League team, the INEOS founder & CEO has instead bought football clubs in Switzerland and France.
So in this short quasi documentary, HITC Sevens takes a look at Ratcliffe's sporting and footballing interests, his possible motives, and what it could mean for Ligue 1 side OGC Nice in particular. - Sport

This was really nice (pardon the pun) to see as I'm British living in Nice. I'm also a tour guide and tell the story of the noon cannon, so that definitely put a smile on my face. I live two minute's walk from the "Tête Carrée" or Square Head sculpture.

Lausanne are not fighting relegation. They are 2 points of European competition. It's just that there's only a 5 points gap between 2nd and 8th .

Honestly I think it’s just costs less money to progress a club like Nice then a Premier League club. All the big clubs in England are owned by billionaires, and need crazy investment just to stay in competition for European positions. The fans all expect to compete year in, year out. It’s unreasonable and you come under too much media scrutiny. In France, reasonable investment and good coaching can get you into European spots. Plus the recruiting ground is fertile, Nice is a nice location to lure younger prospects to play, and sell them on for profit.
You may already be working on it but a what on earth is going on at FC Nantes would be amazing

If you invest enough money into foreign countries it often gives you a second passport. No point in trying for an extra uk passport so if you have enough spare cash its worth shopping around elsewhere if the convenience of a dual or second passport appeals.

As a Toon fan, while I long for the day of Ashley leaving the club, I think Ratcliffe wouldn't have been much of an improvement. Ashley also notorious for buying struggling brands and trying to squeeze profits from them (that's what he did with us).

In General I don’t like INEOS. The ineos logo looks like the CBS logo. They polluted the Manchester Canal and other polluting activities. Last season in Formula 1, Ineos was rumored to buy the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. It took a long time to renew Toto Wolff and Sir Lewis Hamilton contracts due to InEos.
