Remember the Hugh Jackman Wolverine figure from Hasbro? Unique sculpt, nice scaling, good proportions, great detailing, it actually had paint on it, alternate hands and an alternate head, at a standard price point (not to mention the fact that they must have had to pay for Hugh Jackman's likeness). Guys, Hasbro can make good figures, they just choose not to.
I can definitely say that there are separate teams handling Marvel Legends and the GI Joe Classified figures, 'cause the GI Joe figs blow the Marvel Legends out of the water, in terms of articulation and accessories.
The only thing that gives ML an advantage would be the headsculpts.

I think the pandemic and the whole state of pop culture within the superhero genre did a fucking number on toy companies like Hasbro. Their laziness is inexcusable, but understandable. Which is why, we must , as consumers, stop giving them our money. Period.

Amazing Yamaguchi + cloth cape or the classic comic Mafex is definitely the way to go for an iconic and significant character like Magneto.
Masked and unmasked heads, loose helmet, alt expressions, effect pieces, and stylized proportions. Super worth the price
The Magnetos have been so bad I just said screw it and picked up the Mafex a while back. It has everything I want.

This is the best magneto they've released but this one is still weak. I'm very happy with the mafex. This one is really missing his girthy chest and it throws the figure off so much. If legends did an upperbody/shoulders update instead of the pinless update I would be buying more legends.

I’m glad I left him on shelves. I wanted to like him-I really did. But the age old gorilla arms and the puny body told me all I needed to know. I guess we’re just never getting a decent Magneto, let alone an awesome one. Hasbruh at it again.
Never mind Magneto, Master of Magnetism, he's Mutant Mister Fantastic. Those elongated limbs especially the arms.
Hasbro already has the 'Captain America' body mold they can use to make a perfect Magneto. The fact that they are not using it is almost offensive.

For me the worst think about this figure is the escale, he´s really small compare to the others! Another figure I have problem with this is the Classic Doctor Strange, he has good sculpture, but the figure is short, in the comics, he has 6´2´´, but the figure is near the same size as Spider-man, 5´10´´.

A suggestion: Every time Hasbro releases another dud variant, you should consider titling the video "Turd Polishing". Hasbro has forsaken any credibility they may have mustered creating Marvel action figures. Those orangutan arms are unforgivable for such an A-list character.
Is there different copyrights for different versions of characters. Like Marvel vs Capcom because I hope Jada somehow some way gets those rights to technically make Marvel figures, crossing my fingers for this to be a reality.
If Jada can get the rights to the figure line in the future, if they finish the street fighter line?🤔 Jada is improving the series of good things.😏

They put these on retro cards to justify the price. The only way Im getting this figure is if it drops to $10 on clearance.
I have the Mafex Magneto so no need for anything Hasbro will release. The Mafex version is THE one to get. Stop settling for this kind of stuff.

@@ruverbryh9998 Yup its just best at this point to stop beating our heads against the wall trying to get Hasbro to make a decent one. For some strange reason they can't do Magneto right. In their defense though Diamond Select couldn't get Magneto right either.
More than any review, Ive been anticipating this. The algorithm even pushed me some previous magneto reviews as if in perperation. It's almost incredible. This Magneto is a quarter inch shorter than every other version we've gotten. Something had to have gotten screwed up with the fill for the torso when they sent it to manufacturing.
I keep hoping they'd use the new Sentury body as a base. They've got all the parts to make an actually good deluxe brickshit house linebacker Magneto with translucent purple hands, the mullet head, swirly and bubble effects.
Non-hasbro companies are swinging for the fences each release to try and give a definitive look for these characters and every accessory to make that happen. Hasbro doesn't just not give accessories, they can't even get the basic execution. Look at Diamond Selects new Arc Angel and Capt America. Built like super heroes and multiple parts to swap to get multiple looks.
Hasbro be making Magneto like he just got out of the concentration camp.
So happy I chose the Mafex instead. It's a little smaller than I would have preferred but compared to this, so much better, The price aligns if you consider what Hasbro is giving you and what comes with the Mafex.
I ended up buying the Mafex Magneto a while ago. It's not perfect, but it's better than anything else that's come out and he's such an iconic character, I wanted a non-garbage version.

Magneto is my absolute favorite fictional character, the Mafex version is THE one for me.
@ReeceHoward06 hell yeah my first and only Mafex fig.. I waited and wanted it to be my favorite character.. it really is the best center piece for the collection. Idc if he's a bit on the smaller side since he's always gonna be on a flight stand with that sick af cape billowing out.. the only other character I'll pay big bucks for a mafex version would probably be a dr doom.. can't believe they haven't made him yet!
@@sirfrancois8888 I'm definitely hoping for a Dr.Doom and I have no doubt they are going to make one. Going by some of the promo pics on many of the packaging, they seem to take some inspiration from the Marvel vs Capcom series for their selection as well. Dr. Doom being prominent in those games, it's highly likely we will get that style of Doom.

I have the Mafex one and even though he is 3X the price its worth it for how premium he is. All we get with legends are neutral bored AF faces. Great for action poses.
Magneto is supposed to be 6’2” and 190 in the comics. Those body proportions are accurate to that weight, 190 is muscular but not huge. However, he is often drawn completely yoked out like he weighs 225. I suppose that must just be comic book artists having no concept of what translates to real life sometimes.
He and Gambit are supposed to be the same height though. Yeesh- that’s just silly how short this figure is.
225? Comic book Magneto looks like he's a solid 275 body builder, which again doesn't fit his description as you stated.
So what do you want with your magneto? Accurate to what image you see in the comics or accurate to what you read in the stats? Lol!

What a shame. Magneto is one of my favourite Marvel villains. They made him small and mutated him with an orangutan!
They also skipped sculpting the bands on his forearms across the elbow joint.
The only Magneto I have is the black costume from the Warlock baf wave. I tuink it was that wave. Like the others it's on the crappy Spider UK bod. So I was looking forward to this.
Sometimes I feel like you're too harsh in your reviews, but this one was not only on point, but cathartic. People have been praising this figure and I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I just can't un-see his chimpanzee arms!
This should've been an easy homerun for Hasbro, with their miniscule improvement on the line, at least give it a new buck. I'm just crying looking at your custom Magnetos, you did a pretty fine job and that was like what? 5 years ago, 10 years ago tops? Goddamnit Hasbro...

That would be interesting, I really like the Vulcan body and some of the complaints towards this one is not having a bigger chest. The Vulcan body may cover that

I personally prefer the sculpt on the classic Toybiz ML Screaming Magneto for display purposes, still looks good. This new one is kind of bland 😕

The freakish long arms and red hands were a deal breaker for me. I could paint the hands but those arms are impossibly dumb. I didn't realize how tiny he was yet again. Ugh.
it's been 10+ years now. Are we ready to admit yet that Dave Vonner's Marvel Universe line was better overall than the entire run of Marvel Legends?
Definitely! I wish Legends looked like 6 in versions of that line.

I initially pre-orded this figure and gambit and ended up cancelling both after seeing more photos... The long arms really bothered me and the fact that he was so small...he's almost the same height as wolverine lol ...I'll wait until they do a VHS version...
I gave up buying Marvel Legends a while ago and have not looked back. If fanboys will stop giving them money we might can send the message that we are tired of this crap. Magneto is a super iconic figure. Especially this version. This figure alone should have had the most budget devoted to it. Hasbro needs new management.

Look, Gambit has been putting in the work at the gym and it is starting to pay off.
When that giant man doesn’t fund in a few days the line will be officially dead.
The thing with the hands is they look small and then once compared with the fists they become laughable. There’s no way those open hands and those fists could come from the same body. And the height thing is irritating because this is a character from a specific source in X-Men 97, a sequel series to the 90s show. We don’t have access to the style guide for the new show, but I’d be surprised if they messed with the height of the main characters. We do have that documentation for the 92 show and it puts Magneto, Cyclops, and Gambit all at roughly 6’3” and yet VHS Cyclops and 97 Gambit dwarf this guy. It’s just more Hasbro being Hasbro. They don’t care about attention to detail when the bare minimum will often sell. I don’t have any of their past Magneto figures (unless you count Xorn), but I do have a shelf of crappy VHS X-Men with no Magneto so I bought this (and Rogue and Gambit). All 3 are thoroughly mediocre so they fit in quite well amongst the other mediocre to poor figures from that line. I don’t know why I do it to myself, I guess nostalgia is just that potent.
I got the AoA Magneto for 10 bucks at Ollie's. Swapped red cape for a haphazard purple cloth one I slapped together. For 10 I got a Magneto that's good enough for me, has bitchin hair, extra fist hands, effect pieces, and an alternate head with no helmet. Pretty much the same articulation if not exactly the same. I feel the pins for it are a nonissue since they match the limb colors as well as being able to see them as metal bolts that line his suit. In that sense and for how much I paid for it it's much better than this one. So if you want Magneto for cheap stop at Ollie's and you may get lucky.
Yeah I went ahead and customize mine using the Vulcan body, also you missed or over looked the feet are different from what's on the back of the packaging

I stopped collecting Hasbro Marvel Legends a long time ago, but I still come back to see you make fun of them. If Marvel had G.I. Joe's team, they could at least get decent sculpts. They're not even doing the bare minimum when it comes to Marvel Legends anymore, yet still charging full price.
Gambit almost looks like a mcfarlane fig compared to magneto lol. Both companies are being too lazy with scale. Any comic fan can find a character's height; Why cant hasbro and mcfarlane do the same?!
No coffee and energy to do the line work, people need to shrug off the lazyness, most people went to the gym and exercise to feel better.🤔

It kills me that Hasbro can’t get magneto right. It seems like it should be a simple recipe and boom just print money. I almost bought this until I started seeing reviews and realized it’s not even good.

Genuinely just cheaper to get the Mafex. Better to buy a good figure the first time than repeatedly pay for a slightly better but still terrible update from Hasbro
This guy gets it. Ppl will buy the same mediocre Hasbro figure over and over again at $25-$30 a pop.Yes Mafex is more expensive but every Mafex DC or Marvel figure they release seems to always be the DEFINITIVE and BEST version of that character EVER! So yeah just skip out on just 1 of those weak ML waves and spend that money on the 1 great figure instead of 10 trash figures. 😊
Also it's only really the Jim Lee comics that portray Magneto as super big. Most of the other comics especially the older ones he's more normal sized. Plus this is based on the X-Men '97 animated series, is he really big in that?

There are literal walls of Marvel Legends pegwarming in discount stores. Target recently had to clearance everything Marvel at 50% off or more. Just feels like the line is on its last leg to me if Hasbro doesn't turn things around. Seems like it's barely limping along as is.

I dont get it... whats so hard about sticking to 1/12 scale? I collect figures to display together. It's already kinda lame that we can't mix McFarlane's DC figures with ML, but when McFarlane, or hasbro can't even keep their own figures in scale with each other, that's a problem. ...easily solved by sticking to 1/12 scale.... if a charachter is supposed to be 5'5", the figure should be 51/2 inches, 6' would be 6"...pretty damn simple. I know you know this, Anthony, I just felt that it had to be said. Sik

Hasbro has been able to deliver a figure for characters for which we will never need another figure again because these versions are finally perfect. I'm talking abut Doctor Doom, Kang, the Leader, Ultron... and it took many swings of the bat to finally get us the perfect Ultron we always wanted and asked for. When it comes to Magneto, for some reason Hasbro continues to disappoint in one way or another. This one is an adequate place holder... I guess... but so was the last one. This one improves on a few flaws from the last one but then introduces a few other flaws. It's okay... but I'll look forward to the day someone at Hasbro decides to give Magneto a proper "20th Anniversary" treatment. They CAN do it. They just don't with certain characters. Regarding accessories... it should be mandatory... Give me an empty helmet he can hold, an unhelmeted head and a helmeted head. Don't give me a dumb removable helmet because that always looks terrible and never works.

It's a shame the figure is not imposing like Magneto should be. Comic Magneto is 6 foot 2 inches tall. The Pryde of the X-men animation model sheets have Magneto at 6 foot 10 inches tall.
I've got a Mafex Magneto on the way. Most import figures lean a little small. I hope he is in scale with the Marvel Legends figures.

Marvel Legends would make sense if they were $12. They're mass produced using repetitive parts, cheaply done with as little thought or effort as humanly possible. Picking one up should be like picking up a snickers on the way to the register of a supermarket. In that world, this would make sense. The only problem is that they market these and sell these at the same price as figures made by people who actually care. Also, Marvel Select doesn't get enough credit.

Pretty sure the top of chest and neck were part of the red suit and shouldn't be purple like the cape parts.

Magneto and gambit ate both 6'2.... but I think gambit is too tall not the other way around. Darwin is actually 6'4 he should be the tallest out of the three....
