I love this figure but damn, Mafex uses the same face on every figure!- lol it’s downright funny how so many diff figures have the same base face sculpt.
Im going to say, you and others are both right AND wrong about the accuracy of this costume to the AoA storyline. This was his look in the earlier part of the story. The more popular bulky armor look came later.

@@UnparalleledUniverse Yessir! The look that Marvel Legends went for came later, and even that one isn't 100% accurate since it had the purple trunks too in the comics.
It seems to me that a lot of the AOA looks were at least someone up to interpretation by the artists. They were all close to being on model, but there were definitely variations here and there.

I love this figure sadly I had to prioritize other figures so I had to pass on him for now but I'm hoping to jump on him at some point, this review was beautifully shot, hes really camera friendly
You're far more forgiving of a $100 figure than I'd be. Pre-ordered the regular Magneto we all knew was coming after this one, hopefully they've improved

Damnit, now I'm considering this. I wasn't gonna get this cause I'm okay with the Mezco and it isn't the classic look to make me wanna go import price, but he looks great with that blacked out head. The was one of my favorite looks for him. Add a purple cape and blacked out face and boom. And I think.... the Old Man Hawkeye head would look great on this.
How do you take the collar off. Mine can with the wire not tucked.

I do wish this was a 90's Jim Lee version though. If someone came out with a nice purple cape, it wouldn't be that hard of a kitbash. We have enough extra heads from mezco and the family matters 3 pack

The other difference is the lack of purple trunks, just the belt, with the other AoA design. But the look Mafex went with is AoA comic accurate. It's not as iconic, but they were drawn like this as well.

Glad they went with this since the Legends has the quintessential AoA look. Just in case (like you mentioned), if they never make one/it'll take forever to come out, I can always pop a custom purple cape on. Maybe paint the helmet emblem too.
Just opened my Gambit, and good lord it's _amazing_ and fun! I don't even play around with figures like that, but the smell alone of it gets me excited.

To be fair it’s technically not a 90 dollar figure. It’s a around the 70 dollar amount if you were to pick it up straight from the source. The import and shipping fees is what makes the price go up. On AmiAmi the figure cost 68.84 with shipping it’ll be about 80 if not a little less with the fastest shipping.
That’s fair to a point. Because domestic figures when you pick them up at the store … that price also includes distribution cost and shippings and nobody is saying a marvel legends is not technically 22 bucks but 17 … so

This Magneto is awesome I reviewed it too. Unfortunately some Mafex figures come with small imperfections. So yea sorry to hears your came out that way. But on the bright side I also have the Mafex Gambit which I reviewed as well and I must say. Daaaaamn Good Figure! Honestly it's probably going to be my number 1 figure of the year, that's how good it is.

Great review. I passed on the figure though it does seem like an solid release.
I always thought it was so random they decided to go with the AOA design, I mean yeah, they can re-release a classic Magneto down the line, but considering their initial releases were Uncanny X-Men designs this is a weird decision to make Magneto from a different timeline.
I had the same cape issue with my Magneto.. Also had that problem with my hush Batman
I had no problem with both. Both had tight joint .
The front ponytails are easy enough to cut out of the helmeted heads, bringing the look that much closer to a classic Magneto
we shouldn't have to do the extra work for expensive figures *cough* SENTINEL *cough*. Still waiting for both of my Sentinels.

Add classic cape and collar and heads and add switchable forearms and boots that fit AOA Magneto.

Just got it and did not come with the cape and leg issue and for those who have both the Mafex and the Amazing Yamaguchi Magneto the hands can be swapped between them 😬

It was easy for me but I have doing it for years. You should google " Tighten Action Figure Joints" and take a look at all the different techniques people use to do it and chose a way that works the best for you. Good Luck! Be Careful!

I'm sure it's not 100% AoA because they're going to reuse the arms and legs for a classic Magneto. They re-make the same character a lot. We've gotten a ton Batman and Spider-Man figures. Even with the X-Men you showed, they've also got a brown suite Wolverine and an X-Factor Cyclops. So I'm sure a classic Magneto is coming eventually. This figure does look awesome. But for the price, I'll wait for the MAFEX classic version and just use the Family Matters Marvel Legend for now.
I would’ve liked to see how the figure came out of the package before you modified it, rather than you tell us what issues you had off camera before the recording. For objective reviewing purposes. Great job though and thanks for the awesome content.

If you use an import site you'll probably spend less than that but these are pretty worth the price
The more I look at this figure the more I feel this design was chosen deliberately by Mafex. I think they plan on releasing a classic Jim Lee Magneto very soon, using the majority of this mold. They have to know the more armored Magneto design is more evocative of the AOA storyline. Choosing a design so similar to the classic look had to be a calculated decision to save on mold costs.
You are spot on Mafex just released a comic book version of Magneto today.

I hate mafex their qc is really bad my mafex Spiderman had unpainted eyes gambits torso immediately snapped right out of the packaging Thors hips were super loose and on my tiger stripe Wolverine his biceps immediately broke but I am grateful that their are people who enjoy them and have good ones

I'm truly sorry, but Mafex does good stuff, but it's not 120Euros worth. Id rather buy Mezco, not evry figure, but to buy every Mafex is insane and just an Idea for rich people..:(

Mafex can be pricey and Mezco definitely have better QC although they too still have a few duds, but keep in mind, Mafex are a Japanese company and the added price is down to sellers mark ups and import shipping. In Asia it would be the other way around. You might not agree with this figure, but Mafex's Spider-Man's (especially in articulation) are definitely superior to Mezco's. Besides some people have a preference for plastic rather than a fully soft clothes figure. And Mafex undoubtedly do the most iconic Marvel and DC comicbook design and storyline figures at this moment.
@@cookedit i love mezco cause of their cloth tbh but the articulation sometimes are trash. Like the harley and joker are very bad. But i hate when mezco uses pleather. Pleather always flake .
