Got this reel and a diawa black widow 12ft 3lb test curve rod about a month ago for my carping. I use a 12lb mono on the extra spool and some 50lb suffix y6 braid on the braid spool. Can't wait to hook a giant!
I've had 2 in the 6000 size for 3 years now. Caught more carp than you count in a big river up to 40lbs. Been great. These are not for giant blue catfish however. Nor do they claim to be.
@@502austin8 all depends on your price range. Brands like daiwa are probably top of the line and reels such as the one in this video are more towards the budget side. Good luck!
Not familiar with the 5-8kg ugly Stik rod, that should be a pretty stout rod! Both reels would probably work just fine, or even a larger one may be fine 🤷 We have certainly liked our 5000 size kast kings! Thanks for watching and good luck with your set up!
If you do allot of casting, you will love to hate this reel because it weighs so much (basically a full pound).. I have the same one in 4000 series and I only use it for trolling and prefer my Shimano Sahara 4000 over this all day long for casting, which weighs 30% less (11oz) and cost less..

Got a Sharky 3 last year, rust issue a couple months ago and warranty claim was a pain. $60 for a 1 year reel is pretty expensive.
That's too bad! Time will tell if we have a similar issue
Purchased mines in 2019 for salmon fishing from shore. this reel in hands down is my favorite spinning reel

Luckily I'm a bait angler (carp & catfish) 99% of the time. Definitely would not be using this option for a lot of casting 👍
