    Bought one on eBay the other day for $34 in the same size. They must have been liquidating inventory. After I bought it I saw pages of reviews on Amazon with the reels seats broke and reports of flexing. My guess is the drags were designed to be set WAY to heavy on all the kastkings. Most of my composite fresh water ABU spinning drags max at 7 to 9 pounds. I’m sure with the drag set lighter they won’t flex or brake. I’ll be using it in freshwater only. I did catch a freshwater drum that weighed 22 pounds 8 oz last year on a 2500 size reel from the late 70’s with 8 pound Omni flex line last summer. If the drag is set loose enough and you don’t get spooled you can catch about anything as long as your patient and don’t “horse” the fish.

      Haven't caught anything big enough to matter so far I suppose. So far so good for me. Thanks for watching.

      @Tripplebeards The regular Sharky 3 spinning reel without the Baitfeeder is the reel that has the weak foot, not the Baitfeeder. Just FYI...

      @@rabbitbully1810 thanks for the heads up. I've caught a bunch of huge Bowfin and 2 giant soft shell turtles with it so far. Works great! The Lews IM7 graphite rod I paired it with broke on the first fish. I replaced it with a $25 Shimano I picked up from Farm and Fleet. It's been holding up like a champ so far. I just use it as a spare cut bait rig combo. Never planned on fishing it to hard. The bait runner feature works excellent so far. Just wish the bait clicker was louder. I have an old abu garcia 752 cardinal that's 10 times louder. It's the old style with the drag dial in the rear. I just back it off all the way and then spin it tight when I have a fish running.

    Great review. It’s good to see you post a video. I was starting to get worried. Now I’m excited to see what you do with the PBR10E. Fish on!!

    Good to see a review on this reel Vance. I almost bought one a few times. I'm on a quest to catch a catfish, a bucket list fish.

      Thanks Allen. Good value for the price no doubt. Catfish are a blast. I'm not that great at it but still fun when I get a few. Fish on

    • @fishingwithvance
      @fishingwithvance  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Cheap and basic. If I ever get into Carp fishing primarily, I'll invest in something a little more high end. Thanks for watching. Fish on!

    • @JavierPadron
      @JavierPadron Před 5 měsíci

      @fishingwithvance I fish with my rod slightly at angle with bait clicker on, I don't do the European way of carp fishing. Gonna get that bite alarm it loud and I'm pretty hard of hearing... Tight Lines buddy 😎🤘
      Ps. I do use a method feeder and Hair rig set up 100% when carp fishing 🎣

      Thanks YNC. Worth the money for sure. If I really start getting into some bigger Carp and Cats, I may upgrade to a little bigger model but overall, perfect to start out. Thanks for watching.

    I own a KK 4000 6000 Baitfeeder. Smooth reel. ALOT of flex in the reel. 26" stripers hard to land due to flexing reel handle and reel seat arm.
    The handle is too thin and the reel seat needs more beef. Wicked smooth though Not bad

    • @fishingwithvance
      @fishingwithvance  Před 2 lety

      Haven't had that experience with mine yet. Then again, haven't hooked any striper either. Also haven't hooked a bigger Carp yet either. Mostly 10 to 12 lbers. Thanks for the input and for watching. Fish on!

      More people should go with the 6000 it's not that big and seems to be much more stable throughout

    Vance, I have always been a Shimano, Okuma, ect Consumer, BUT..... after learning about these Reels; Best Quality for the buck, and Excellent Customer Service, I bought Several. The Front drag using Carbon Washers is Darn tough , and may smooth out a bit in time. The Rear Drag at lightest setting is not nearly as light as my Okuma Epixor Baitrunner. That is Disappointing. I talked to Kask King; Told them to work on that better., and add a titanium nitide line roller next time.

    • @fishingwithvance

      Thanks for the information Eugene. Since doing my review I have had some issues with one of my KASTKING reels. The clutch to switch between top and bottom drag is really loose and seemingly worn out. I bought my first Okuma 55 and will see how I like it this upcoming season. It seems to be better built first impression. Lets see how it holds up to hopefully some nice big Cats and Carp. Thanks for watching and fish on!

    Love the channel... Dislike the KastKing Baitrunner and thier service department. Sent me a 6000 instead of a 5000 but left a extra spool that's a 5000 (doesn't fit the 6000 reel). Also, the reel isn't smooth... The KastKing store on Amazon isn't worth beans. Lost 50$ on this one... never again. Back to Penn and Shimano for me... Maybe I got a bad one but the company doesn't care.

    • @fishingwithvance
      @fishingwithvance  Před rokem

      I can't disagree Redklock R. At the time of this video I hadn't had any issues. Last season, I had two 3000 reels break. The lever mechanism that switches drags is super loose and barley works. I haven't caught that many carp on it. Maybe 10 this past season and no monsters. I switched to an Ocuma so look for my review of that after next season. Thanks for watching and the feedback. Happy New year and Fish On!

    I have 2 of them and did a review on my channel. When they work they are awesome. One of mine does not always engage the drag when I have a run and then reel, the 2nd once always works. and they cast great, I just have mixed feelings because one does not work 50% of the time. I just engage it myself and it still works great.

    • @fishingwithvance
      @fishingwithvance  Před 2 lety

      hmm.. I haven't had that yet but haven't really caught a ton of carp or cats on them yet. I will checkout your review. Can't wait to fish now. Getting close.
