My dad dated Jim Reeves cousin. I wasn't born until 1965, but Daddy remembered Jim very fondly and could play and sing everything Jim ever sang.
And when Daddy was drafted into the Army during the "Korean Conflict," during Daddy's last weeks of basic training, Elvis was just coming in. Daddy said girls would mail themselves to Elvis in boxes.
I used to watch MIDWESTERN HAYRIDE FROM CINCINNATI!
My Uncle sang with the best in Louisiana Hayride. He was born Thinodeaux,Edwin Mary. His show name was Tibby Edwards. We call him Uncle Bill. My Uncle started singing at the age of 15. The last I saw him was before he died. Rip❤️🌹
Had Horton not passed, the Hayride would’ve lived on, Johnny was dedicated to them.
JAMES O'GWYNN was one of my favorites and still is!!
I met Frank Page when I was a senior in high school. I had a friend that knew him. It was neat seeing stuff on the walls and etc. there was some Elvis stuff there.
5.25 minutes in there is a picture of an article in a magazine. We have that same magazine, it's The Country Song Round Up, second issue from 1953. Thought that was exciting.
My mother lived in Benton, a few miles from the Hayride. I found out much later in life that she was a wild concert chick that met Elvis through a bouncer she was dating.
He didn’t sing at the one near Benton. The Hayride was done at The Municipal Auditorium in downtown Shreveport. That’s why the have that statue outside the bldg.
@@rhondajones6036I mean Benton is basically considered in the Shreveport-Bossier area, and people often will say “a few miles” even if it’s 20 or 30 minutes travel time if it’s in the same city/metro. I guess it’s an American thing.
Video went bad at 52 minutes to black-and-white screen all covered up making noise.
Wonderful, informative video before this.
The video didn’t “go bad” it’s a VHS recording and the program was over…
