The bike drives just fine - the pedals are free wheeling. If you did not have the functioning pedals - it can not be used legally in most states. Yes - it would be better with no pedals - but they do free wheel - just like a regular bike.

Why are the pedals not flipping in the body like the foot rests for the hind passenger, fitting in the body when not in use? I can imagine driving this bike with pedals is dangerous, as they can be in the way of turning!

If your worried about it getting stolen-- nuy a Case hardened Chain. 3/8 dia. for 8$ foot. Ace hardware can order some. But really you can reg with the local cops or the fire station.. You can also put Low jack on it-- in a hidden place.

The bike was good for level runs. Not very good for hills in Tallahassee. Law limits them to 25 mph - NEV law. People have juiced them up - but it cuts down on range. the pedals are useless - just there to meet the medal power law - I never used them - too awkward

there are numerous makes and models. if you want one, go to amazon or ebay or walmart and enter electric bike in the search bar and you'll get a plethora of brands to choose from. I payed about 830.00 to have mine shipped to my door a year ago and yes, 40 miles per charge is about right if you properly condition the battery for the first 5 charges
