Reliving The War takes a look at the WWF vs WCW "Monday Night War" that took place in the mid 90s - early 2000s. With WCW Monday Nitro and WWF Raw is War airing at the same time, fans had to choose which show to watch. WWF and WCW would get into a ratings war that turned into a fight for survival. Reliving The War looks at every match and promo from the entire Monday Night War weekly.
Triple H wants to replace The Undertaker in the Fully Loaded WWF Championship match later in the week. Vince McMahon decides that Hunter will face The Phenom in tonight's main event, and if Triple H can beat Undertaker, he'll get his opportunity to face Stone Cold Steve Austin at Fully Loaded. The loser of the Triple H vs Undertaker match will face The Rock in the Fully Loaded Strap Match. Elsewhere on Raw Steve Blackman takes on test, and Jeff Jarrett defends his IC Title against Christian.
On Nitro this week new World Heavyweight Champion Hollywood Hogan defends his title against Sid Vicious while Kevin Nash (Hogan's upcoming opponent at Road Wild) makes it clear that his rivalry with the Hulkster is personal. Konnan and Vampiro have a rematch from last week, Sting takes on Ric Flair for control of WCW, and Billy Kidman gets a shot at the big-time when he faces Randy Savage.

Dude ❤ 💯 you have bangers as intros to this series 🤘🏿💪🏿
Thank you for bringing the "HE'S AN ANIMAL" Clip back! Made my day.
no videos for 2 weeks and then putting them behind a paywall. jam up guy here
Haven't watched the RTW PPV review yet but I certainly hope you included Triple H's interview with JR when he becomes The Game
@@roninmarketing4048 An Animal! AN ANIMAL!!!
I'm watching this while playing WWF Wrestlemania 2000 for N64. I'm truly partying like it's 1999.
Rock on 🤘
Jealous 😢
Now I gotta hook my N64 up lol
Shame the actual WR2000 was lackluster
@@rage9715 we at least got the great triple threat ladder match from it
Never quit calling him "Wood from the Hood"
Abra ka-that doesn't work for me brother is an underrated line 😂
Missing the short clip of the Steve Miller song "Abra-Abra-Cadabra"
You know things are serious when Steve Blackman is on the thumbnail.
things are mu-fugin serious, brother.
That damn country music is gonna pay, the Muffugger is coming for it
Just be thankful that Meng and Steve Blackman were NOT in the same thumbnail. That would have broken the Internet.

Middle of summer . 1999. What a time to be alive

I was 14 in 1999, you are 💯 correct

Blackman is cool with The Mean Street Posse because “real recognizes real”😂😂😂

All the girls go crazy
Kane was in incredible shape at this time. Jesus Christ.
Dude looked like a fuckin statue.
I started this series to see how both programs measured up each week, but now I've been watching to learn more about the expanding Steve Blackman lore.
my brain has replayed YOURE AS COLD AS ICE
YOURE WILLING TO SACRIFICE
at least once per week for 2 years now
11:52 I so wanted to see Pete Gas walk into the room holding a boombox blasting that song or something.
They should've gave him the Generation 1 Transformers Blaster toy in boombox mode for Pete Gas to carry out.
“A face like a slapped ass” is insane! 😂😂😂 I’m stealing it for sure.
That’s a common slang term in the UK
Seeing Jericho's countdown brings back hella Monday Night War memories. Best debut build up of ALL time.
X Pac hugging Kane was so wholesome I wish we saw more of them together
1000%
I think this is why X-Pac heat became a thing. Fans never really got over that heel turn.
@@jackcarraway4707 You beat me to it
Sunday Night Heat before Fully Loaded: "I am the f*cking game, JR".
I might watch that episode again.
I've modeled the last 20 years of my life after Pete Gas.
Oh god…
Pete Gas was over
I was called Rodney for years.
Smart .
Fully loaded 1999 with my favourite pay-per-view of 1999
Its one of mines for two reasons, the strap match & debra
I rejoiced with laughter during the Mean Street Posse segment when alongside the fantastic innuendos regarding Joey and Steph's inring banter, we see the return of the "He's and Animal!" clip.
That almost killed me
10:56 bichoff took that powerbomb really well though.
Easy E was good at selling, he took a big powerbomb off the stage from Kevin Nash in the early stages of the nWo storyline too.
Believe it or not kiddos: Arliss was “the peak” of HBO programming around this time.
A little mafia show that had just finished its first season would quickly dethrone it
Arliss was third behind The Sopranos and Oz.
I feel like Arliss is one of those shows that was popular at the time, but people don't remember it now.
@@heisensaul5538 even for the time it had a few fans but…..it wasn’t very good. It was more just “oh hbo has a show now how cute”. It wasn’t till the Sopranos (and Oz) that the “premium” quality reputation of the channel developed
@@jbanks979 yes, I didn't know about Arliss in WCW until I was in college b/c I wasn't watching WCW by this time. I love the Sopranos, one of my all time favorite shows. I tried to watch OZ and I couldn't get into it.
@@heisensaul5538 It was more of a cult show. Rumor was HBO was quickly going to cancel it until a producer from HBO got into a cab and had a discussion with the taxi driver where the taxi driver told him that he loved Arliss.
It always blows my mind when you have heel/face turns with the person turning aligning themselves with people they were just feuding with. Nash just got out of a feud with Savage and Sid, now we are friends. Lovely.
It’s WCW logic. As in, there was none by the time 1999 rolled around
WWF did this too. HHH told a story in a 2001 shoot about he had a conversation with Bossman during a Raw episode during the Corporate Ministry in it's genesis. Bossman told him off camera@@dukes1993724 "I just had a HIAC match with Undertaker three weeks ago. Now we're in a faction." HHH laughs then goes, "Yea. He just killed ya. Creative definitely had a faux pas here huh?"
Isn't that the whole mess of the nWo split and reunion as well? The Wolfpac suddenly being friends with the B&W after feuding for months, good guys turning just because. Wasn't it all nonsense?
@@DarthPyrusTheVirus Yes
Remember when Austin and HHH teamed together shortly after trying to murder one another?
The N64/PS1 wrestling game vibes of all your intros have been so spot on. Really feels like they could be swapped in for the actual WrestleMania 2000 game intro or something.
Fun fact Master P owns Rap snacks ..and ngl alot of them are good
I've had them, they're good
Shitty rappers tho 😂
@BrandanTheBroker Same here
This is WWF July Energy and hands down, they were high on the wrestling mountain
WCW was a distant 2nd by this point
The best thing about Thursday! This series got me back into wrestling

Nice intro, the break was worth it.
I already miss Sable movin to the music.
I was at Raw this night! My sign made it on TV!😀
It is weird looking at Steph before the heel turn because I swear she almost looks like an entirely different person
She went from a sweet angel to a devil lol
She is a terrible actress
Surgery.
She even sounds like a different person.
@@Mujangga You mean "Crash Course in Brain Surgery"
the Y2K clock noise made me raise loll
yeah it made me double take too bc i was like i thought his debut was in august
The mean street posse theme is so catchy 🔥
With the way Sid and Arn Anderson are working together, you'd never know that just like 5-6 years previous, they had a really nasty fight involving scissors where one or both were nearly killed.
"What's the matter sid can't find your scissors ✂ "
"They have reconciled and have since become friends."
Back then 5 years felt like a long time ! Or maybe cuz I was a kid
@@eddie9244 5 years in wrestling or any sports league is an eternity.
Steve mufuggin Blackman on the thumbnail? Oh this is about to be GOOD!
Taking a donation out McMahon's skull... That was cold, and a pretty rad promo by Stone Cold.
The lonely island track for mean street 😂😂
Surprised it wasn't mentioned here since he's the equivalent of a *god...*
...but the July 19, 1999 episode of RAW was the debut of Steve (Mufuggin) Blackman coming out to "Drums in the Night (Part 3)", which he would use for nearly the entire rest of his career in the WWF.
Time for that Wrestling Bios remix! 😅

WCW'S 1st of 3 Visits to my Hometown of Rockford Illinois
10:40 It looked like Bischoff took a rough landing from Sid’s powerbomb! He appears to land left elbow first.
Alternate wrestling timeline: Steph marries Joey Abs and Joey Abs is now currently in currently running WWE.
Jesus Christ, what does the rest of that world look like?!?
@@EverythingisnumbersThe good ending
Undertaker
So let me get this straight. We get Steve 'mufuggin' Blackman, The Mean Street Posse, AND the return of Norman Smiley all in one episode??? The only way this could of been better is if we had some Saturday Wright Fever too!
“Abraka -That doesn’t work for me brother.” 😆
I love how the mean street pose had Joey Abs, Pete Gas and just Rodney. No last name just Rodney lol. Also i dont want to rag on Savage but it feels like hes not been the same since his injury last year and maybe its also due to his age at the time. He doesnt seem as fluid in WCW
Yea he put on a lot of muscle in wcw. Probably slowed him down as well as age and injury’s. He wasn’t on juice in wwf. Or wasn’t on as much.
He blew out his knee jumping off the top of a cage. Those injuries eventually catch up to the best of them. Plus the extreme steroid abuse doesn't help with agility.
Savage was more cooked than a well-done steak at this point.
There was a guy at WM15 before Joey. Can't remember his name.
I honestly think that once this series is finally over...... I'll just start watching it from episode 1 again
Already on my second watch...
By then, Wrestling Bios will start the Reliving the War series between WWE and AEW
Same
@@roccojamison89gooker51 and I'll be there for it
The Mufug dojo reppin' the intro and thumbnail this week!
This is the first time we see Blackman acknowledge Shamrock as a threat, since he had out actual deadly weapons. Considering Blackman is a deadly weapon, his battle with Shamrock is getting serious now. I'll be surprised if the cameras and the cars at their PPV match don't just explode.
The shin blackman joke got it made laugh out loud well done did not see that one coming.
Proposed hall of fame inductions for 2025: Steve Blackman, Norman Smiley, Alex Wright, Disco Inferno, Too cold scorpio and Mean Street Posee ( Group Category )
Savio Vega and Ralphus
God I love that Norman Smiley song
17:35 Christian still wearing his Brood necklace. I think he kept wearing it even after the Hardys became the New Brood.
Love the new opening with the names.
Love that Paul Reubens was a reoccurring character in the wwf/e. I think i remember him doing something with Big Show years later
I POPPED like a firework when I saw Shane Douglas on Nitro.
Dean Douglas
Ah yes, the Nitro episode where Robert Wuhl shows up as Arliss Michaels and doesn't break character.
I'd like to believe the concept of shared universes wouldn't be a thing if he didn't show up on this random Nitro episode.
It's like the Robocop thing.
What if Buff Bagwell ran out during the Nitro main event dressed as Papa Shango?
I know a lot of folks don’t like Tony Schiavone, but personally I quite like him, he one of the few salvageable things about the product besides Henan and Tenay of course!
Love Tony Schiavone. It's almost like he has an ignorant innocence about him. Plus it's always the greatest night in the history of our sport when he's on color
Bobby Heenan was at his best in WWF commentating; especially with Gorilla Monsoon.
Heenan: You know, I understand that the Boss Man and his mom live in Georgia, Jake "the Snake" in Stone Mountain, Georgia, he took the snake out of the bag the other day to show Boss Man's mom...
Monsoon:...Don't start!
Heenan:...the snake went back in the bag!

It's Thursday night and you know what that means! Reliving The War is here once more!
A promo for the guy that just won't die (Jericho) followed by a promo for the man that cannot be killed, Steve Muffuggin Blackman.
I can't wait till we cover Shane vs Blackman at Summerslam. I'm hoping for a glorious montage and the superb dialog to follow.
Isn’t that next year?
It's so funny how WWE takes credit for ending WCW when it's pretty obvious the wounds were self inflicted.
It was 50/50, WCW were deteriorating while at the same time WWF were becoming must watch television, the perfect storm really
Blackmans intro would make a good montage for almost any comeback in movie history
Raw from my hometown in 99. Hell yeah.
Ahh we've finally made it. This Nitro was my first ever wrestling event. 10 year-old me was blown away by the atmosphere and chaos of everything. Seeing the blown out vagina stage is something I'll never forget. That and how small it was in person. This one show hooked me for life and I still have it on VHS from recording that night on TNT. Seeing Rodman, Eddie, Goldberg, Sting, Flair, Macho, Nash, Sid, Hogan, Booker, Arliss, AND Horace Hogan in the same night was amazing.
Thank you for saying we were a great crowd. I remember the crowd was into EVERYTHING, but my dad was pissed that the commentators were only heard on TV lol. I guess he never pieced that together.
BONUS INFO NO ONE ASKED FOR
Gorgeous George is actually from Rockford, Illinois (LIKE ME). I dont know if she did much after this.

Dang, a new intro. Already hyped. Bring it on.
11:54 My absolute favourite time of the week! Love the show (and the channel overall!) I discovered it by accident a few months ago and got caught up just as you announced you were taking a break 😂
Glad you enjoyed Wrestlemania and I look forward to seeing the weekly wars through to the end.

Sting vs Flair is the most WCW match ever. Classic. We'll get to see it a couple more times before the end of RTW, too.
Shin Blackman, written and directed by Hideaki Anno.
Hey Mr.Wrestling Bios, How dare you call WCW a dumpster fire, I can see this company going to the top and being with us for years and years.

One of my favourite go home angles on Raw here love Taker standing over Vince and Austin in pools of blood and JR yelling SOMEBODIES GONNA BLEED, SOMEBODIES GONNA LEAVE!
7 more weeks until the 200th episode of Reliving the War! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!?
I can't believe it
It's just insane to think that it's late July 1999 & the nWo is STILL somehow still a thing in WCW, despite the fact that it's now in THREE parts, since Hogan (who came out in full nWo regalia) is now a babyface, Nash (who still had a small nWo logo on his Outsiders shirt) has turned heel on Hogan, & the nWo B-Team continues to exist for seemingly no reason whatsoever. I honestly thought the nWo was 100% gone by this point, but apparently we still have to deal with this confusion for another entire month, as the Hogan vs. Nash match at Road Wild is apparently the "true" end of the OG nWo storyline, in a sense.
Weirdest part to me is there was no send-off of any form. They merged the factions, and a couple weeks later the top guys all dropped it and went their separate ways. It wasn't even acknowledges ffs
@@innocentorphan1213 The various injuries that happened in the first quarter of 1999 really screwed things over, alongside the decision to double-turn Hogan & Flair at Uncensored, which completely borked whether or not the nWo were all heels or faces.
@@Obscusion2 they could've acknowledged it being over at least. It's just so awkward there's nothing, it just fizzles away without any ceremony. Then again they were probably hoping to bring it back later so they didn't wanna make any rash moves.
nWo was played out by the end of 97. But they kept milking it.
@@innocentorphan1213 it was a combination of injuries and also panic due to the huge drop in ratings. they knew they had to change something quickly, but they didnt want to properly get rid of the nwo, likely because of the merch it was still selling
I always felt that the Attitude Era had two parts and the transition was somewhere around here in Summer 1999. Austin and McMahon will no longer feud, Triple H will become the top heel, the Undertaker will gradually become more of a realistic brawler than a supernatural force (even in the promo for this episode - listen to how he talks), the Rock will continue to rise as the top face, and the mid-card will start to emphasize technical wrestling a little more (like WCW used to be known for).
I did it! I made Jam-Up Guy status! Time to start training at the Mufug Dojo to celebrate!
Sting will only be president of WCW for two weeks as in a couple of weeks the commentators will say that Sting handed control of WCW back to Turner/Time Warner. There would be speculation on who the next president of WCW would be (with hints towards Eric Bischoff), but then Bischoff was sent home and there was no more mention of it ever. At this point Ric Flair goes off tv for awhile (with the exception for a match against Benoit during that week's Thunder) and will be back after the Fall Brawl PPV.
The Millennium Clock again. I wonder what that's all about? Will it lead to something big? The Austin vs McMahon rivalry is coming to a close, and wait to relive that final battle at Fully Loaded.
quality as always mate keep them coming :) cheers me up
Thanks from California for making these. I love them
