    great video. i like CLP as a cleaner too, I tend to use grease as a lubricant myself, or 5W-30 motor oil. but I'm in a pretty hot environment most of the year too.

      Yup! Grease and motor oil are always solid choices.

    Love these videos Travis. Looking to purchase a new pistol soon for EDC. I have not decided on one yet but doing my research. These take down and cleaning videos do us a great service. Thank you. BTW...I use REM oil.... thoughts?

      Thank you for watching and I love to make them! As for Remoil, it doesn’t leave the thick coating that CLP leaves but I’ve used Remoil for close to 30 years now with no issues.

    whats the matter with that boresnake? I mean i understand the method and i guess it works good but only if you wash the boresnake after usage? Is this thing washable?

    I use CLP for just about everything except for the slide rails those get slip 2000 grease, I have about 8000 rounds on my factory Pio one guide rod which is plastic, I see no need to change it until it breaks

      Scott, I'd be more worried about having eight thousand rounds on the same recoil spring. That spring should be changed way before you put eight thousand rounds on a handgun of any type. I usually recommend every 2000 rounds you go ahead and replace the recoil spring assembly. But that's just my opinion. Do not want to tell anyone on how to maintain their own firearm. Great video on cleaning this CZ Travis. Echo

    Never put lubricant on magazines.

      I use CLP mainly as a cleaner but then make sure the mags are dry

    Does it matter which end of the recoil spring goes onto the guide rod?

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  Před 2 lety +2

      I would put the narrower end on first as that keeps it tight on the guide rod.

    I like to use a brush to clean my barrel. I use the bore snake to wipe it clean. Its likely just me but I feel like the bore snake alone would just put all the residue into the rifling groves.
    For the frame, I like to use the Remington oiled wipes and a microfiber cloth to wipe it down and remove any excess oil.
    Q-tips are great for getting down the frame, trigger area, etc. The brand X Q-tips leave cotton all inside the gun.

      Yeah, there are many options to get it clean. I don’t worry so much about barrel residue as the mop section of the bore snake usually catches that but I also hand wash my bore snakes so they stay clean

    Where did you use the CLP?

    • @travisp11

      The gun lubricant that I used is called CLP by Safariland
