Thanks kindly for this as today I just took possession of my new Sig Sauer P226 X-Five 9mm. I want to give it a good cleaning before I take to the range and now I know how to properly do it. Thanks and all the best.

Great cleaning and valuable cleaning tips. Im just curious. Does the hammer have to be cleaned and lubricated as well?
Yes, clean all visible surfaces. CLP will clean and lube.
Thanks for creating this helpful video. Do you recommend applying grease or just oil for lubrication as I am a new owner and looking for feedback.
Thanks again for posting this informative video.
CLP is all you need.
I have the same gun as you in this video, took it to the range for the first time and used this video to help me understand how to best clean it afterwards. During the function check, my hammer will not drop without a magazine inserted, however it works perfectly fine with the magazine inserted. Is this something I should worry about?
Sounds like you may have the California compliant version with a magazine safety. You can contact Sig and give them your serial number to verify.
@@SkullCrushInc Yeah it's California compliant, I didn't realize that's one of the "features", thank you for your reply
Same thing for me you save me the time of having to ask the same question. I am in California as well. But this video was the Best, so thank you so much skull crush!
❤
When do you feel the need to further breakdown and clean the moving parts inside the grip? I have a 226 Legion I recently bought and ran a few rounds through and it has aLOT carbon and little brass shavings among the mechanisms. Is that normal? My 320 looksmuch cleaner with nearly the same round ciunt between cleanings.
Mine is clean inside the grips. Sounds like something a something a dry aerosol CLP could take care of.
@@SkullCrushInc Thanks. Your video is by far the best 226 cleaning video. The attention to detail and in depth considerations for proper cleaning steps blows all the other videos out of tge water.
I’ve been looking for a 226 or 229 in that color scheme. Do they still make them like that or do I need to have it professionally cerakote? Which gun variant do you have?
His is an Emperor Scorpion Elite, discontinued. You can currently still find plenty of standard Scorpion Elite models with a slightly different PVD finish (closer to FDE than the bronze-ish tone of the Emperor) and different color G10 grips. The third option would be a tan Mark 25 but I believe that model was from about 10 years back. Check Gunbroker for some Scorpion models.
Sorry for the late reply, yes @f-grade is correct. It is an Emperor Scorpion Elite.
If it doesnt lock back like at end of your video, is problem about the magazine ?
Hard to diagnose without seeing in person. Someone else had the same issue with a California compliant model.
How should I clean the snake when needed? thx
Your bore snake shouldn’t be getting very dirty because the barrel should be pretty much clean by the time you use it. If it looks dirty, Just replace it.
Could you also use clp for airsoft guns?
I don’t know. I don’t own any air soft.
Is this color easy to come by?? I would love to buy the same exact pistol.
It’s hard to come by.
I have a sigsauer P226 elite scorpion that is in the camo color, Camel, 2nd railbut my rail I changed with a romeo1 attached and it is now a two-tone pistol.
What holster you used for p226 legion

When i did the the check without magazine it doesn’t work. But with magazine it does. Is it supposed to do that?
Sounds like you have a magazine safety. You probably have a California compliant version.
@@SkullCrushInc ahhh thanks. That explains it.
Is the slide catch supposed to automatically lock when you rack it back all the way? Sometimes it automatically flips up and holds itself back. I have one that consistently does it. And another (mint) that does it only sometimes.
Yes, if there is an empty mag inserted
@@SkullCrushInc ooooooh… I’m dumb… ty
We think a lot alike. Why run the brush back through the muzzle end if you "shouldn't" do it with a rifle. Micro accuracy isnt as important with a handgun as a rifle but I want all my guns to be the best they can be with accuracy. My only prob. is why the bore snake here, lol? You did better than that before. Nothing was added to the cleaning to me (and maybe added small amount of crud, lol).
this is pretty much the same for a p229 right?
Yes.
@@SkullCrushInc just got a legion, this video is going to help big time. thanks!
beautiful pistol 🙄
how often should you clean your gun ?
After every use.
