Is This Total War's 2024 Plan?

  • 2023 has been an eventful year for Total War to say the least, but perhaps not in the way Creative Assembly nor the players wanted. Scandals, disappointments and delays have marred the franchise, whether we're talking Total War Pharaoh or Warhammer 3 DLCs, and it's very likely that the cancellation of Hyenas contributed to both of these events playing out the way they did.
    But now, 2024 is on its way, and the promise of a new tomorrow with it! In this video, I go through the most likely Total War games to release in 2024, even though some might be more far fetched than others. Even though 2023 has been a difficult year for fans of the Total War series and Creative Assembly itself, I do hope for a much brighter future, and what would be brighter than, say, a Total War: Medieval II Remastered? A guy can dream okay?
    Do you think I'm right in my predictions, or do you have other ideas? Will Creative Assembly release anything at all in 2024, will they announce something massive like a Total War: Warhammer 40K, or do you think there will be no new games? Let me know your thoughts and ideas in the comments, and don't forget to leave a like and subscribe to the channel! :)

All of the previously mentioned should have total and full mod support to make old games so much better. Let Feral do more remasters. That is what the community wants. They just want to tap into the Fool's Gold of Chinese money with Three Kingdoms. I will leave the franchise and will only play legacy mods on the older games and/or a remastered Rome I under Feral. Exactly...that is how I got Troy and Pharaoh should have stayed as the DLC it was intended as, at first. I also got the Memnon DLC for Troy where you got to play as Pharaoh Memnon as a horde character in a Troy DLC. For $20-30, Pharaoh would have been a decent DLC. Not as a standalone. I almost wish I were the president of CA and not these business school people they have now. Just don't alienate your customer base and throw them some red meat every now and then. Just have two divisions a historical division and a Warhammer fantasy division. Keep them separate and watch as the money rolls in. Probably 2/3 for the Warhammer crew; and 1/3 for historical, that would last at least 5-10 years. Also make mod support easy and accessible. I think these changes would be the keys for making a more successful business.

    i think a 40k game is more plausible (in making the game, not in the chance of it happening) than people think. If you look at the artwork for the setting and the tabletop games, then fall of the samurai and the great war mod for world war one, they're far more similar than people realize when they're only looking at stories of individual space marines and the smaller scope video games that have existed before.

      “If you look at the table top games”
      Which take a *section* of a frontline, a very small section.
      The World War One mod is also janky as shit and does a really bad job of representing World War One. It’s napoleon with a machine gun.

    • @Kyuschi
      @Kyuschi Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@quimble2177 it's a mod, and being a bad representation of the first world war has nothing to do with how well it can fit the fantasy of 40k.
      Taking a section of a battle is what total war has always done, the battles in the games are always way way smaller and narrower in scope than real battles have ever been.
      It's a fictional universe, especially with how rediculous the setting is, you really don't need to be realistic to make a total war game. Also i think vibes are important.

      @@Kyuschi you’re right, it doesn’t have to be realistic, but it has to be similar to the lore. And lore wise, 40K armies do not attack in large blocks. There are exceptions such as the mordians, who still practice line combat or your genetic cultist horde, or the Nids, but 99% of guard regiments and 40K armies operate similarly to WWII and modern militaries. They do not simply march men into bolter fire or las fire. The memes about Krieg just walking into gunfire because haha suicidal Kriegsmen are just that. Memes, it doesn’t happen in universe. What if Creative Assembly, realising they have to really hit this out of the park, if going the Medieval 3 route, so the games like Pharaoh, are to produce income that can then be diverted to polishing Medieval 3 as well as test innovations. Is it a realistic option? Probably not. It would be a very great way to give the community as close to the game they would expect and a fantastic way to sort of soft reboot the franchise.
    If this is indeed the way they are going, though, not the best execution.

    For historical remasters I would love if they did a remaster of;
    - Medieval 2.
    - Empire.
    For historical games that could be sequels or maybe new titles;
    - Medieval 3 but that has to be their magnum opus.
    - Empire 2 or Napoleon 2
    - Shogun 3, low priority since 2 is still highly regarded.
    - Total War: American Civil War
    For Fantasy/Sci-Fi;
    - Total War: Age of Sigma, the game and lore is in a much better state and fleshed out then how the table top launched. But possibly after 2 historical games
    - Total War: 40k, what I would give to have a grim dark total war game as the different factions as fleshed out as Warhammer Fantasy. But the issue is intergalactic warfare unless they do it like Burning Crusade on one planet.
    - Total War: Warhammer: The Old World, set like the board game 500 years before what we remembered as Fantasy. No skaven, viscounts. Extremely doubt it since it'll be confusing and needing to step away from the Old World.
    - I'd love if they were to actually make a Total War: WarCraft or even a StarCraft game.

    Empire II makes the most sense. Let me explain..
    CA has been getting flak for reusing the same engine, which is now mutated and difficult to upgrade without causing things to break. Medieval 3 would realistically require a new engine to please fans, and that would take time and money.
    Empire II on the other hand could get away with reusing the same engine (which was originally released in the first Empire) and expanding the map to the full world, expanding diplomacy and trade exponentially with options like weapons production and arming rebel factions, and overhauling the graphical interface.
    Empire II would be irresistible to a lot of people and would provide the funds to develop a Medieval 3.
    That’s my take
