Released by Rolex at Baselworld 2018, The Rolex GMT-Master II "Rootbeer" is encased in stainless steel with a Everose gold bezel surrounding a black dial on a steel and rose gold bracelet. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date, and GMT. The watch measures 40mm in diameter, 12.1mm in thickness, and 48mm from lug-to-lug.

For some reason i prefer this two tone instead of the full rose gold model!

I own both and it's a toss up on how I'm feeling and what I'm doing on any given day. I also own the Batman, Batgirl, and black GMT. The Pepsi and Root Beer are my favorites. Next is the Batman, then the black GMT, and then the Batgirl (just because, given the rest of the GMT part of my collection, it's a bit redundant).
damachine3 Thats wicked cool dude. I have the new Pepsi too, and love the Pepsi and Rootbeer models in particular. Hopefully they come out with a new variation of the Rootbeer this coming year, as well as a Coke.
@@scottrgood Thanks! I think a new Coke is a possibility but they might let things in the GMT line ride another year. I don't think they will introduce another Root Beer this soon. It was jist released at Baselworld 2018. But you never know!
damachine3 No problem man, sweet collection. Ya I think you’re right. I don’t like the way Rolex goes about releasing new models, but I think I understand why they do it like this. I think an all yellow gold Rootbeer on jubilee would be great because it would harken back to the vintage Rootbeer GMT models from the ‘70’s.... but if they came out with an all steel Rootbeer (which they probably never will) or a regular steel Coke, then I would get one of those.

This watch has got swagger in spades. Long time Rolex owner and I can honestly say this watch is so beautiful, it will make your knees weak. Oozes class and sport elegance like no other in the Professional line up IMO and I have owned alot of them. The Everose pops more on the TT than the solid Everose giving nice contrast. This is perfect example of Rolex getting the colors perfect with the Everose and ceramic bezel. Every shade complements the entire color combo of the watch.
Had to buy one even at a premium and what a statement watch. I see the brown on the bezel like a rich tobacco color. This watch would look at home at a swanky cigar lounge in Miami where looking good seems effortless regardless if your dressed up or down. The new Pepsi colors did nothing for me as the ceramic blue and red is a shade off giving it a odd hue in most lighting? The CHNR is the real 2018 Baselworld grand slam. I see this watch going crazy with long waiting lines for a long time to come.

Tim - How do you care for the everose without scratching the polished center links? Specifically - how do you safely remove daily smudges? Is a wet microfiber safe to use?

Have the first new gen two tone w black dial/bezel gmt 2 I picked up in 2008 shortly after it’s intro. This one looks like an interesting variant. Hasn’t quite grown on me but there are always going to be fan boys who will pick up the newest/latest Rollies and I get it. Good explanation over all.

Finally gave in and put my name on the local AD's waiting list, I'm number seven apparently and should expect to wait two years for my watch. Well, that's precisely what they told me when I put my name down for the James Cameron Deepsea in 2016 and six weeks later that watch was on my wrist! Let's see if lightning strikes twice!
Did you get it? Really love that watch thinking of putting myself up for one. I've always been doubtful about Rolex and value for money, which for me is important in this hobby. But the rolesor looks like a watch that would fit really nice. Paying 19k euro for a steel daytona or 13-15k for the rolesor seems like an easy choice.

Another masterful review Tim. Never been a fan of two-tone but this one is different. It's classy without being too showy or too blingy. One acquaintance from our local watch community is selling the same model for 20K USD. Too expensive imho but nonetheless beautiful watch! Cheers!

Love this watch but I think I’ll let the hype calm down a bit before I make a move on one, there’s a bit of root beer fever around at the moment with fools paying a stupid premium to get their sweaty hands on one!
True. I bought mine last month and have been watching the market for fun. I saw some going for crazy amounts just a few weeks ago and, while they are still selling at a good premium, the market has definitely cooled. Bob's Watches had one going for $23K just a couple of weeks ago and, as of yesterday, they had two for sale--one for $17K and one for $17.5K.

I had the privilege to see the current Pepsi side by side with the rootbeer. It's kind if of like the Me2 Movement vrs Joe Biden. There is no question that the rootbeer takes the crown; it's not even close. If you aspire to be the manly man that you are inside; the rootbeer simply accentuates whatever manly attributes you're bringing to the game and does so in the best of ways. It's respectful, powerful, and cannot be questioned. Nobody questions the Manliness of Sean Connery, Robert Deniro, or Robert Redford. They certainly will NOT be questioning you when they see this on your wrist!

I bought this same watch last month. Love it. I bought the new Deepsea D-Blue James Cameron (2018 Baselworld) two months ago. Love that too. Finally, I just bought the new Sea-Dweller 50th anniversary 43mm "Red" last week. All from my amazing AD, at retail price (of course...no discounts on these hard to find watches).

I know a lot of wealthy people who buy watches and I’ve never heard of anyone going out and buying three Rolexes in quick succession. Also, your comment about getting these watches from your great local AD at retail price is very fishy. Genuine Rolex AD’s are controlled with an iron rod, they are not permitted to sell Rolex watches at discounts and they certainly cannot try to sell them at a premium so your comment makes little or no sense. I seriously doubt that you own any of the watches you claim to have just purchased, frankly.
I had a similar discussion on the subject of Seiko with a guy who claimed to have a collection including Patek, IWC, Blancpain, JLC etc etc....turns out he had a Seiko.....just another keyboard bullshitter!

There is NOTHING Rootbeer about the current Rootbeer. It’s a two-toned “Rolosor” with a simple brown strip on the bezel. C’mon man! My GF has more brown present on her landing strip. Until Rolex incorporates more Rootbeer back into the dial, this watch is simply flat bubbleless rootbeer. Delivering zero tasty froth on the top. Stick with your women; I’m sure she will taste better than this nonsense on the wrist!
