Thank you! My wife was watching with me while you were explaining the buckle in the door and she said, "Oh. That's me." 🤣
I own 2 Camrys right now. 97 with 365K miles and an 07 with 110K. No major problems with either car. Never owned a Honda but I always hear good things about civics and accords. Me being a Toyota fan, I would buy her a Corolla.
That's some nice miles, yeah I'll be happy to find a corolla, I'll be ok with that . 👍
Very nice job, love your videos, always something new. Great plot twist, with you as her mechanic it would be ok, but with that smoke or condensation it may already be to late for the kia. Get a Honda, better in long run. Thanks.😉
I appreciate you watching, yeah I'm not liking what I'm seeing with this kia. Time to keep my eye's peeled for a honda or Toyota
High mileage and oil burning? Easy ,don't buy. Only pain, buy Civic and an extra 100K miles and no pain. Thanks for interesting tutorial. Bye from Amsterdam
Yeah, plenty of red flags here . On to the next one! Lol. Thanks for watching
Had a buddy with a ford flex.
All 4 door locks would always read as open. And he would disconnect his battery everytime he parked his vehicle. He had been doing it for 6 years. He old me he has had replaced the locks before ajd it just keeps happening. I bypassed all his locks with 20 cents in butt connectors lol. It pays off to have car knowledge
A lot can be done when someone understands how the system works 💪
Toyota Camry would be a great choice for a first car. Avoid 2007-2009 for oil consumption issues. I’d also be weary of 2010-2014 unless it’s been documented the torque converter was replaced. I own a 2013 Camry that had the torque converter replaced under a TSB and it’s been a great car. 2015-2017 has crash safety improvements and the updated torque converter. 15-17 is the best choice if you can find one that isn’t overpriced
15-17 is a bit newer than what I'd like to buy. Teens will most likely crash their first car . I'll be looking for one that's a bit older. Thanks for all the info 👍
@@themechanic6117 I’ve been happy with my 2013 Camry XLE. The transmission had a shudder and I had the torque converter replaced for free under a TSB that has expired unfortunately. I got it with 109k miles and now it has 165k miles and the only big thing I’ve had to replace was the front wheel bearings. Other than that just regular maintenance. I change the oil every 5k miles and it burns nothing between changes. If you plan on getting one just feel for any vibration at 40-55 mph that’s the sign the torque converter is bad. If you can find one without shudder it’ll be a good car
If you're fixing it, you get to decide the model ;)
Exactly, and I don't want to constantly fix a turd kia 🤣
That smoke would scare me off. No matter what it is, it isn't good. You know a Civic or Corolla will outlive us both
I've got a customer with a 08 civic, it's ran into the ground but it still drives with almost 500k miles!
Go with your gut instinct dude. Go get a Honda or Toyota dude. Great video
For sure. I've already crossed that thought out of my mind
6:18 my versa does the same thing.. slam the belt in the door sometimes
That really pisses me off when someone does it in my car 😑
hi, what scanner did you use to read that the doors are open/close
Launch diagun 4
Im all for cheap cars, although this one i wouldn't. To many issues owning and insuring these cars. Only way i would buy this is to use as a parts runner, or a spare for when the main car is being worked on.
I hear you, first car for a teen isn't a good idea. I doubt she'll even check the oil 😩
@@themechanic6117Whether its a new off the line or an old beater, both can break down at Anytime . Personally id find an older honda/toyota 96 and newer, for obd, and go thru it, and put her in that. She can make her mistakes in it, before putting her into a newer vehicle.Shes a teen girl, and you dont want your teenage girl broke down and something happen to her. There's more creepy men then their are good, so she wont know their true intention till its to late. Some advice in lookimg for these good deals is to find the ones that need brakes, tires, timing belt, head gasket. Most of these items your going to do anyways so get the price reduction off the bat. You can turn a 200 to 500 dollar car into a 3 to 5000 dollar car.
rechech the draw, your meter was on AC and not on DC that why no draw amps were shown
@10:13
I see that 😩🤣
Honda or Toyota. Definitely.
💯
Toyota all the way!
💪 I'll see what I can find
If you put a shim under the door switch it will be easier
Ahh yes, the spark plug destroyer, oil guzzling Kia Sorento.
That's exactly what this car is! 🤣
I know bro. My wife had a 2017 with the 2 4 gdi. Started consuming oil @ 45k. She loved the car besides that problem.
Those models blew up their engines.. I have a 22 2.5 non turbo..we will see
@@Darjan_Spasojevic yeah my instinct is telling me that this isn't the car for my daughter.
Still driving a 2009 civic fwiw. Over 200k miles.
I have a customer with a 08 civic, it has like 460k miles and still going!
Yep stay away from that Kia nothing but problems plus easy to steal high insurance rates .. can’t go wrong with Toyota or older Honda ..
I need to keep my eyes open for a honda or Toyota to buy. I didn't even consider how easily the kia are stolen ....not a good idea to get a kia
Yes mine just has a key 🤣 wish us luck
@@themechanic6117my versa also… just a key.. but no one wants to steal it😭😭💩🚗
You're more brave than me if you buy that smoking motor car.
Nooo 🤣 I already pulled the plug on that idea
You nailed it before you even started . I don't remember your daughter being old enough to drive , wow where did the years go , holly crapolla. Buy her a new chevy silverado , she's worth it 👍
I have 3 kids , my oldest has never really been in any of my videos . My youngest is the one you've seen in videos , she's 5 years old right now.
@themechanic6117 Oh ok , yes your son and youngest daughter . New driver I had my daughters in a chevy astro van and a silverado 2500hd just incase they crashed , they never did but they liked the truck better than a small car. Maybe your F150 , give her that to drive .
My sister inlaw was put in a f150 as her first car and since then she never wanted a regular car. Always something big. I don't want my daughter to get that mind set or get her comfortable with a big truck that she feels like she needs one. Not to mention as a teen she doesn't have much money for fuel so I don't want to put her in a gas guzzler. I think a civic or corolla is a good starter car, if she wants a bigger car later on that's her choice 😁
@themechanic6117 I paid for the vehicles , the gas , the insurance so they have to pay for me when I go to a retirement home :)
@@SteveRobReviews I'll buy and fix the car .... the rest ? These kids better figure it out lol
if its just water vapor yeah sure go for it, but if thats straight oil burning no no. i do know the 2.0 gdi is a terrible oil burner enough to clog a cat, ask me how i know.
My sister's hyundai clogged the cat from a similar problem. I've been down the road for that repair...no thank you.
A ten year old Camry would be magical... avoid the Kia my man....
Yeah ,you're right . That would be a big mistake
You already know. 1995 civic is way more reliable. Simple to work on.
Definitely 💯
It's worth it for the full tank of fuel ⛽⛽⛽with the way fuel keeps going up you could possibly make a profit😂😂😂😂😂
Lmao, not even that could sell me on this kia lol
These 2.2 and 2.4 liter engine have a class action lawsuit on them for blowing head gaskets.
Dont get it
🙏 yeah I don't need all that in my life 🤣
Buy her a Toyota! They don’t get stolen as easily as the Kia’s do.
I didn't even think of that. I forgot about those cars getting stolen 😩
buy it, it will be wrecked in a few months and then you can get her a good car
that way the good toyota wont get wrecked
besides that this first car will be wrecked before you ever have to do work on it.
Unfortunately that's the sad truth ,most first cars are often wrecked. 😕
Money pit. No impulse buy. Bad outcome..
I hear you, I'm staying away from it
Buy a Toyota or Honda and say goodbye to the Kia. Your gut is right.
💯 on to the next one! It's crazy that the engine is relatively new and it already appears to be burning oil
Run away from that car and don't look back.
Loud n clear, no amount of "deal" makes the car worth it.
Get a Saab
Weld a stud on slide hammer it out
Yeah that's a option. Also thought about drilling a small hole to use the slide hammer on it but it seemed too intrusive .
