I know at this point this video is near a year old, but... I just had to tell you how cool I think your dog is and your relationship with him is awesome! I got hurt on the job almost 9 years ago bad enough to keep me outta the game but one of the best things to come out of it is how close my dog and I have become. Like you and Hank, my pup (12 years old as of July) and I are a team. "Partners in crime" most folks call us. He's hands down better than any human I've ever known! Bar none! I hope Hank is still with you and will be for a long time! God bless you and what you do!✌
Great attitude to have over a busted test. Best of luck. Im beginning to think all pipeliners are super chill. You, Jacob Schofield and Austin Ross are all chill laid back in the best way man.👍 Hank is the Dog to have gotta luv him.
Hey good video-like your dog. Hang in there buddy. It won'r be the last test you bust. I've been pipe welding for 35 yrs and I know what you went through. Keep your head up.
Ever since learning how to weld with my first everlast welder I really want to get into a welding career. I'm not looking forward to setbacks although I know I will run into my fair share of them. Keep moving forward.
Busted the test also Zachariah, sometimes it feels like I am the only one but apparently not . Hey ho can`t win em all, never mind ! Good luck on the next one man....!
Doug Penner Weld test standards have gotten ridiculous. When I started in the trade, the old timers were short arcing high pressure steam pipe root to cap. Those welds are still holding strong after decades of use in the field. Now we tig the root and hot pass, then spray arc the rest. One pin prick of a spot in all that added metal is a fail and your off the job. I’ve participated in many weld events for upcoming jobs and seen 9 out of 10 experienced journeyman fail. Hero to zero in one test. Of all the trades it takes to build a powerhouse, I just don’t believe any other trade must deal with that kind of stress. I left the trade 5 years ago. No more laying on my back in the mud with slag falling in my ear, arms covered with scars and freezing my ass off. There are easier ways to make even better money.
when you are talking keeping that much oil out of the drinking supply, then yeah. Jobs have a habit of letting old guys get away with more, this prevents that. Everyone pulls there own weight or get out.
Don't fret cadet there's always another test down the road most upcoming pipe welders or any welders usually try to dive in to soon I practised at home in my garage for nearly a year doing nothing but 6g position test myself with carbon and Stainless pipe both even with 309 wire as well and I still busted my first 3 test outta being nervous mostly forgetting those small things in the moment you shouldn't ever forget in the field and even pushed a bad setup when I should have taken more time and gotten comfortable with#1 most important and set your heat right and if your coupon gets to hot don't keep pushing it to get that cap straight and those stringers lined up right let it cool you can't walk that cup on pipe so hot it slips off the pipe completely just slow down and do it till it's second nature to you bro good luck to ya
It's part of life, I have busted test but you learn from it and move on to the next one. I feel like someone who tells there story about busting whatever weld is well a better person a better welder in the long run, thats the kinda friends i like having around me not the ones who brag they never busted a test which you and I know is total bullshit. Keep on going you'll do better on the next one.
Every welder I have known failed a test at sometime . Testing for a job sucks but it does keep the standards up and allows us top dollar because not everyone can do it well
I'm sure you get this question all the time but who could I call to set up a weld test? If you ever read this and want reply just inbox on here. Thanx;)
I would love to get on a pipeline. Time at home is always so nice to see my kids and family but being home any longer than a week or 2 is stressful. Life in the road is a real cold bitch!
Wtf your dog was funny 😂 hope the best. I'm in welding school. Heard jobs are hard to keep for a actual good period and heard weld test are nervous as hell
Took me 15 years to finally certify and I failed my first test for procedure not welding. Even dumb shit can get ya. We all go onto other things or try again.
I failed my first x Ray today onsite. And I feel terrible. Everyone’s says it’s not a big deal, one spot of fucking porosity. But I feel horrible. Sitting in my truck for about an hour wondering how this happened. With their policy they have to x Ray two more of my pipes welds. And now I’m paranoid. I Feel awful
when you don't have work lined up this what you do.. 1. go to scrap yard and buy some angle iron pipes and flat stock 2. google the words " custom Metal furniture" 3. Find some design that looks interesting 4. Use your scrap metal and make some benches, table bases, night stands etc 5. open up a "ETSY" account and post your stuff there and sell it cheap You can sell a lot to make more money then doing nothing. I have done it and it is good for getting through the dead zones
You man you can be an affiliate and make an account with amazon . You post a link of whatever you buy and unbox... if someone clicks the link and buys anything you get a percentage ..
Man honestly that's my biggest fear. Is that when I break out if I fail I don't have anywhere to go. I don't have anyone to fall back on. what's y'alls advice?
Rafael Flores that's true man but I ain't got the money to break out. I've got a regular J.O.B. right now and I can't afford to miss a paycheck. so I don't have the money to go make the money. how do I break out? although on a side note. I'd like to test for somebody just to see if I can pass even If there's no job to be had.
I drove from Houston to North Dakota to test cause it was my only opportunity. It's part of being a rig welder. You gotta master your craft. Weld when you don't have to
Bellering B maybe you can start at a shop then work your self up. You have to start somewhere you usually don't start making the big bucks rite a way. I now of helpers that all they did is practice on their brakes took advise when it was given, and tested out on diff. Spots and eventually got on a job. Even of its not exactly what you want to weld but they point is you have to start some where!
Im an inspector and if you passed 2 bends and 3 good straps, I would’ve let you cut 2 more nicks and if they passed I would’ve give it to you. Always ask to do 2 for 1. Some inspectors are dicks but we know how it goes sometimes. 70+ sucks
I will keep that in mind on the next one, if i bust a strap ill ask them. 70+ does suck, can't keep them running long enough to burn the whole thing. And more than half of them don't want to light up. I think I threw more away than I burned.
Billy Flores yes. I just haven’t done much downhill. Not enough to pass that test I guess. The came by, checked our heat. They actually told me to turn down. Not something I’m used to.
Please turn the collar on the dog. The "box" where the prongs are located should not be at the bottom of the dogs neck. At best they should be located on the side of the dogs neck or top and the collar should be snug enough not to move to much. Please don't ask how I know this but you have a cool dog and I wouldn't want to see you suffer the same as others. Keep up the good work!
I know at this point this video is near a year old, but... I just had to tell you how cool I think your dog is and your relationship with him is awesome! ANYONE THAT SAYS THEY NEVER BUSTED A TEST HAS NEVER WELDED !!
Great attitude to have over a busted test. Best of luck. Im beginning to think all pipeliners are super chill. You, Jacob Schofield and Austin Ross are all chill laid back in the best way man.👍 Hank is the Dog to have gotta luv him.

WVClassicLincoln13 always! Thanks for them encouragement!
Hey good video-like your dog. Hang in there buddy. It won'r be the last test you bust. I've been pipe welding for 35 yrs and I know what you went through. Keep your head up.
Happens to the best of us keep your head up and keep pushing !!!
Ever since learning how to weld with my first everlast welder I really want to get into a welding career. I'm not looking forward to setbacks although I know I will run into my fair share of them. Keep moving forward.

Life has its ups and downs on the pipeline that's for sure.. just be ready ,like always tonight we just might be back on that road .. stay positive
I love your rig it's bad ass, and your dog is really cool.
Jeremy Deloach thanks!
Busted the test also Zachariah, sometimes it feels like I am the only one but apparently not . Hey ho can`t win em all, never mind ! Good luck on the next one man....!
I'm sure it's not your first and definitely won't be your last all part of the game. Stay positive and keep on keeping on.
Keep head up, stay positive, you will be on another soon enough
Look at the bright side 500 subbies 😲 nice man !
Keep on keeping On! We all bust tests! Life goes on..

Been in the game for 15yrs and every welder i know fails a few welds a year. Hard part is loosing your job over it....no other trade has that.
Doug Penner no other trade eliminates those whom can't perform there job??? Hmmmmmm don't sound right.

Need that level! New sub! 💪🏽
Yeah, Ive been pipe welding as a single hand for three years now, my problem is not having enough contacts in the rig welding world.
No matter how many times you bust that dog still loves you,
Been there done that. Don't give up
Always the last one keep your head up brother. It happens
New subscriber. Enjoy your videos. Stay positive. Stay safe

That sucks bro. I still have your GoPro btw. Weather has been too bad to fly in so I haven’t added any footage lately.
Every welder I have known failed a test at sometime . Testing for a job sucks but it does keep the standards up and allows us top dollar because not everyone can do it well
TO OPEN the packages you use a can opener works great
If you have access to the red tungsten use that to sharpen your knife. That’s what I do and it seems to always work good.
Happens brother. My cap on my 6g uphill is killing me. Can't keep cap straight
Enjoy your time off. I’m sure another opportunity will be waiting right round the corner
That Sucks but enjoy your time off man.
Should have asked if you could of stuck around and worked as a helper, and maybe caught the next testing day. Money’s money 💰
My pleasure man.. hope your day is a good one. It's chilly here in Ga.. where bouts u working?
I was in west texas. Headed back in a couple weeks.
I'm sure you get this question all the time but who could I call to set up a weld test? If you ever read this and want reply just inbox on here. Thanx;)
happens to the best of us but keep going
I like welding but i didnt even pass a visual inspection on a test yesterday i was embarrassed as hell.
I would love to get on a pipeline. Time at home is always so nice to see my kids and family but being home any longer than a week or 2 is stressful. Life in the road is a real cold bitch!
Just busted my first ever weld test today on the last strap, very depressing.
Such is life.

Wtf your dog was funny 😂 hope the best. I'm in welding school. Heard jobs are hard to keep for a actual good period and heard weld test are nervous as hell
You get used to them. Sometimes you bust. Its Just how it goes!

You win some and you loose some I hate it when I bust it sucks but You learn from your mistakes
"If you've never busted, you've never been anywhere."
you win some, you lose some.
enjoy your time off
Took me 15 years to finally certify and I failed my first test for procedure not welding. Even dumb shit can get ya. We all go onto other things or try again.

Get an HPS light bulb filament out of a burnt bulb, that’ll be your best sharpener you’ll ever own. It will sharpen the crap out of any knife.
Was that North Dakota? I was going to be a pipeline welder but that oil field
Thomas Kimball that was in west Texas
I busted that test today...😑😑😑 lol
You keep talking about home, where you from man?
Head up to Marcus Hook Sunoco refinery. We need welders bad here. Building the shit outa this joint. Shale gas boom. Yankee pay is alot

If you ain't ever busted a test you probably ain't tested a lot
They only way you don't ever bust if you sit at home on the couch
its a sad day ..lol
Ive busted a weld test before on a bridge and its mentally anguishing ..
Man honestly that's my biggest fear. Is that when I break out if I fail I don't have anywhere to go. I don't have anyone to fall back on. what's y'alls advice?
Bellering B dont look back.go to the next job, you'll pass one eventually
Rafael Flores that's true man but I ain't got the money to break out. I've got a regular J.O.B. right now and I can't afford to miss a paycheck. so I don't have the money to go make the money. how do I break out? although on a side note. I'd like to test for somebody just to see if I can pass even If there's no job to be had.
Bellering B how bad do you want it? I had a regular roustabout job no money saved up but i winged it and passed my test. Goodluck.
I feal that. That hurts
You'll get it next time bud
My lower back is killing me
Can ya figure a rolling off set?
Dean Sellers he's a pipeliner not a fitter 😃
Better luck next time, it happens
Yeah, Just have to roll those sleeves up and try harder on the next one!
It happens.
I live in Arkansas
Brush, brush and brush.
It’s always the very last strap
Yep. Because if its the first strap that breaks, that's the last strap.
You need a gatco knife sharpening kit. Best investment I ever made.. look them up.
Ill check them out! Thanks!
maybe practice more with 8010
Why do you pipeliners wear those funky helmets and some are made with wood? enjoy your videos though
Bummer , I guess if you don't fail you ain't doing nothing
I agree 100%!
Im an inspector and if you passed 2 bends and 3 good straps, I would’ve let you cut 2 more nicks and if they passed I would’ve give it to you. Always ask to do 2 for 1. Some inspectors are dicks but we know how it goes sometimes. 70+ sucks

his probably used to it
Simple 6g 8010
Billy Flores yes. I just haven’t done much downhill. Not enough to pass that test I guess. The came by, checked our heat. They actually told me to turn down. Not something I’m used to.
Billy Flores as "simple" as it is, anything can happen
Dude use a V sharp sharpener works great on bench made knives
Please turn the collar on the dog. The "box" where the prongs are located should not be at the bottom of the dogs neck. At best they should be located on the side of the dogs neck or top and the collar should be snug enough not to move to much. Jacob James 😂
Momma s boy welder
How can you bust a weld ,,and weld every day ,, smh
trey Stewart do you even weld? There are so many variables.
Cause Slag happens
It happens to everyone
You can start off by getting rid of that dog. You'll be cleaner and more professional, and you won't have dog hairs on your clothes.
Maybe your not a good welder.. Not ever Dr is a good Dr. Theres always mcdonalds
