    Where is the teacher's guide?

    THANK YOU FOR THIS! We did Simply K, and now we’re in the middle of Foundation Phonics for the second half of Kindergarten. We LOVE Masterbooks, and after all of my research I don’t see any other box curriculum that is so truly open and go. With an almost one year old breastfed baby, open and go is mandatory for me! I was getting nervous that I might need to switch curriculum for 1st grade because of all of the reviews I’ve seen saying that Masterbooks is not enough, but this review was the most helpful and thorough that I’ve seen. Your videos were the reason I chose Masterbooks for Kindergarten and now this video is the reason I’m sticking with Masterbooks moving forward. Thanks again.

    I so wanted to love this program. We used it for two years and I did k-5th between all my children over those two years. It looks from the overview as if everything will be covered sufficiently- but reality was, it’s not. My children were so frustrated by the presentation of this program and how MB tried to pace it. We ended up abandoning the spelling early on - it didn’t work for us. The words didn’t go well with a spelling rule presented. K was more like pre-k for children who have gone to preschool ( mine had for fun). The phonics presentation in first didn’t work for us and I ended up buying a different program. I would strongly suggest calling and speaking to a rep regarding placement and use and then really look over the books when you get them and make sure it will work for your children.

    I know this is an older video, and I'm just coming across it now, but this was incredibly helpful! I'm strongly considering Masterbooks for LA but was, in some ways, preparing to suppliment. However, I felt like I'd be supplimenting too much until I stumbled across your video. I still think I'll go a different route for spelling (thinking BJU spelling), but that's it! Thank you for clearing up all the myths and sharing all these tips!

    However, I cannot, I’m good faith, do this program again. It looks easy but it does a very poor job of teaching concepts, things were mixed up and there was not enough practice or review. I felt lost, as the adult, in doing this curriculum. And the way things were presented were confusing, and non sensical. Thank God, I was not using LLFALE for reading, the program is horrible for phonics and spelling. I recommend All about reading and spelling. Thanks for this!

    • @anydayblessings2354
      @anydayblessings2354  Před 3 lety

      There really isn't any reading instruction in LLFLE. There are just reminders to have your child work on reading. There is only one formal lesson (day 5) for spelling. So you could do days 1-4 of llfle and AAR/AAS as you currently do.

      @anydayblessings2354  Před 5 lety +3

      Has your daughter completed a phonics program? There is not phonics/reading instruction, but there is review. Master Books has a phonics course that is meant for K/1st but no formal instruction after that, just review. By the time you get to level three of LLFLE, phonics is only discussed as it merges with spelling (day 5 of weekly lessons). Let me know if you have follow-up questions.

  • @perseverancethroughfaith2185

    • @anydayblessings2354
      @anydayblessings2354  Před 5 lety +2

      Of course it would make it easier to have the Bible reader they schedule. The page numbers would line up and you could be sure all the stories they assign are covered. However, I already have children's Bibles here and one of mine lines up really well. I am just going to have my son read from there on Friday mornings, draw the picture, copy the story title and truth listed and answer the questions from that Bible. So I think it's completely doable with your own children's Bible (provided there are discussion questions and something for copywork).

      I am using BJU spelling due to preference and because "if it's not broke, don't fix it." I think the spelling content in LLFLE is completely sufficient. We purchase the distance learning videos from BJU for spelling and it gives me some free time to work with my pre-k daughter. My son loves the videos, it works and so we are going to continue with it. We were already using BJU spelling when I discovered MB.

    • @tashawillett6450
      @tashawillett6450 Před 3 lety +1

      Behind whom? Behind what?
      Most homeschoolers like to go at their child’s pace and buy curriculum that fits the level of their child. If you need to go up a level for your child, that’s great. If you need to go down a level for your child, that’s great too. There is so much freedom in homeschooling and it’s wonderful that we can all buy curriculum that meets our kids where they are at and not have to try to “keep up” with others or try to align our homeschool with the things taught in public schools.
