  • My most asked question in the comments is always "Is Master Books Curriculum REALLY enough?". I answer that today and show you how to make Master Books work for your family!
Note: I do not work for or affiliate with Master Books. I'm not paid to say anything, I just really love them!

I am so glad to have you back!! I truly missed your videos. I will be praying for you. My input for new videos is lapbooks and unit studies.

Thank you so much for creating this content. It has really eased my mind as we are switching from BJU to Masterbooks! Super helpful information.
And you are totally adorable. Retired military family here!

Thank you so much for such an awesome review, we are looking for a new curriculum and already have masterbooks in the online cart. Then i thought, "youtube". I truly enjoy hearing reviews from people who use the material.

Thanks for this video :) I just ordered LLFLE 3 and this is my greatest worry. It is nice to hear a review from someone who isn't affiliated with MB! I don't tend to trust the ones that are affiliated because you never know how much their paycheque comes into play when they are doing their reviews.

Jen Foster I understand :) I imagine that most people who partner with them were super fans before they were asked to partner (that’s how teaching textbooks found me 🤣 I was bragging about them on my channel!), but I could see why you’d be nervous. No worries, it’s a great company!

I just made the leap to switch everything over to Master Books! Nothing like waiting until you've already bought a different curriculum, done all the planning and actually started the year for 5 kids and then completely switching everything up!

I only have 2 kids, but I'm doing the same thing. But if it makes the rest of your year run smoother, it is worth it.

Thank you Mandy for this video!! We are new to homeschooling (started in February). I had to crash course and now 1st full year home this year. We are going to use MB and not rigorous like Apologia (which we were using previously.) I have a struggling learner going into 4th but, starting at MB level 2. I know with Math it will be easy at 1st but, plan on doing flash cards and some add Worksheets. Do you have ideas what else I could do with him? I know he should be a multiplication and division but, the brick and mortar failed him. Now I am playing catch up with every subject.

New homeschooling mom here (fellow military spouse as well!). Found your videos and I can't thank you enough! I was going to use Abeka but I think with my sons learning style Master Books would be a better fit for him. What do you recommend to get for my son (first grade) besides the basic 4 subject set.

So the 4 book bundle I see for a second grader is for the whole school year? I understand that I can throw in more activities for my child if it's not enough, but just wondering if there is a state exam at the end for them.

Thank you for all the information you are providing. My daughter decided a couple years ago that she want to homeschool. Since her elementary school only goes to 4th grade, we decided this is her last year. It works out great since this is also my son's last year in public school. Go Seniors! So anyway, I am learning all I can so I can start her off after this school year. My question for you (or anyone else) is does you state require so many hours of instruction per grade (or school year) and if so, how do you fit in those hours? TIA for all answers.

You'll have to look up the laws in your state. Some states are very strict but some are very lenient. You can find your state's law here. hslda.org/content/laws/

Have been hs with Abeka for 8 years. Some of it was great, but I feel like it wasn’t fun, because I was such a wreck about making sure they finished a lesson or stayed on track or whatever. I want to switch to master books, but I have this worry that it isn’t enough just like many others obviously lol. My main concern is with math. You don’t use master books math though right?

  • @motherdaughterlostineurope

Do you think it's necessary to buy the America's Story teachers manaul? I'd prefer to save money too, and only buy if truly needed/helpful.

Mandy, I understand this is an older video, and I’ve been following you and see that you use Generations curriculum for science now. I’m trying to figure out a science and history curriculum for my son who is 9. We haven’t really done a science that we have enjoyed. Last year we used abeka. This year for history we used Around the World by beautiful feet. I’m looking for more in these particular subjects. What would you recommend for a child who really wants more? We also don’t want to spend a whole lot of time on these subjects but enough each day to have an adequate amount that is doable to keep him learning. Thanks, I appreciate all your feedback!

Joseph Folgore Last year we did TAN books “The story of civilization “. But...it was a bit dry and I had to find a lot of outside hands on items to bring it to life. My 9 yr old did like it though. After much research this week I decided on just using Catholic Heritages history curriculum( grade 5). I’ve used them in the past and they are pretty good. I decided the saints were just too much integrated into our world development to go with anything not Catholic! JMJ

I wish I hadn’t doubted MB in the beginning. I was guilty of trying to recreate school at home. MB as been an absolute game changer. We tried Abeka and BJU and my kids and myself much prefer MB. They are learning more, retaining more, they’re excited and they are actually enjoying learning.
