This movie's aesthetic was on a whole different level.
It’s CGI is silky smooth, even for today’s standards. Even better than some movies in theatres now. Definitely the most eye-pleasing AND ear-pleasing film I’ve ever seen

can't get enough of it man, we need more arena fights and more lightcycle scenes.
Both scenes were good but light cycle had me hype the sound of the light cycles engines roar as they turn on the jet walls 🔥🔥🔥

This movie just proves how important, directing, cinematography, lighting, editing and vfx are. People always talk about what happens in a movie but for me remembering how something happens or remembering a movie visually is also important too. It’s sad that the visuals are the only thing I can remember well for this movie. The director deserved a better script.
I mean... "I fight for the users" is a pretty good line that is very memorable
Joseph Kosinski and Claudio Miranda did a great job in bringing this particular story to life, even if it was lacking in the script department
I recently re watched it and I enjoyed it better this time for some reason. Give it a shot again
I don’t think it was a poor script so much as it needed a longer run time. It’s hard to feel immersed in this beautiful world if we only see a small glimpse of it. This also applies to character development. I would have loved a 3 hour run time.
this movie was AMAZING in the beginning, but I feel like they ran out of budget or patience (or both) and the ending was both underwhelming story wise, and visually. (You can see how Clue looks way worse in the end than the beginning). I really liked the movie, don't get me wrong, but I felt like the universe and atmosphere were so cool, and deserved a better story.
This movie had one of the best uses of 3d in the theater. Nothing was 3d until Sam was pulled into the grid. It gave this really intense sensation that the world had drastically changed as soon as it happens.
reminds me of in The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy goes to the Land of Oz everything switches from black and white to color.
Man, Daft Punk did such an amazing job with this score. Gonna miss them.

3:31 the way rinzler dodges and ducks a returning disc and to look up after all that is just... 100/ 10 man holy shit.
Of all the things that gets stuck in my mind about the scene, it’s that small dodging of the returning disk that always gets me, like, the first dodge, cool, but to have the spatial awareness, knowledge etc. to know to dodge just at the right time? Amazing.

First time seeing Sam rising up to the arena, with the soundtrack slightly increases as he rises, the audience cheering up and the entire arena changing shape to prepare for Disc Wars was probably one of the best scenes ive seen on the big screen. Honestly, im super pumped for Tron 3 even without probably the actors that did this movie and yes... Even without Daft Punk themselves (rip :C).

I first watched this movie with my grandpa. I was 3 when the movie came out and I watched it a year or two later since at 3 my attention span wasn't that big. I watched it with my grandpa and it became our movie. I loved it so much that I watched it all the time and even got Tron toys. To this day I still enjoy watching this movie with my grandpa.

This was one of the movies that was definitely worth watching in 3D and this scene was one of the great instances that showed why. When he first gets transported into the world and the lightcycle battle were other great moments showcasing that.
Was it in 3D? I don’t remember that. The big deal with this film was that it was partially shot in IMAX 70mm. The parts where the aspect ratio change here would’ve appeared even more square than 16:9; it was _epic._
@@nameless-user Oh yeah. It stands out in my mind because they even did this cool thing where the 3D effect popped off even more when he went inti that world. Idk how much of it was an intentional design choice and how much was a natural consequence of the digital world having more CG so the effect was able to be integrated more, but either way it made for a noticeable and awesome extra sense of depth in that world. Hard to explain but it was dope. 😄
Agreed. Disney did the original when there was a major change in technique. The 3D in this was awesome. They did the 3D to make certain things stand out. Not everything all at once. A banister here, a car there, bushes. It was artistic.
The director of this movie really has an eye for some amazing shots. This , oblivion and top gun all continue to blow me away with spectacle ❤

Daryll W Except Rinzler didn’t lose at all. He was kinda toying with Flynn the whole time with acrobatics to give a better show. In the end he decided not to kill him because he was a user not a program.
@@InjusticeJosh I think he was talking about the first and second guys who got killed, not Rinzler. Also, Rinzler technically can't kill Flynn. The disc is suppose to automatically kill programs by a simple touch of the edges. But since Flynn isn't a program, all the disc can really do is scratch him.

This was literally my favorite movie as kid. Sometime about how high tech it was and how sleek the suits looked made it awesome to watch over and over again.

@Mr. Yolo Well that thing is Tron, but he's being controlled by Clue. I can understand why people wouldn't enjoy the movie if they didn't know that.
The fact that this has the same plot as ant man 3, came over a decade earlier, and still surpassed in music, emotion, writing, dialogue, humor, and especially VFX quality
I'd love to live in the Tron world for at least a day. I hope someone or some company can build something like this. I don't think making those hovering glass objects will happen in our lifetime but the lights and the aesthetic designs inside Tron would be so cool to get a feel in. I feel like it could be possible to make a lightbike area and a disc wars area for people to take part in -- obviously without it killing anyone lol.
Even though it’s an American Football stadium Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas kind of has a Tron look to it especially at night.

3. Spin around
4. Throw disc at a very non accurate direction

Loved it when I was a kid and still to this day is one of my favorite movies in gaming related genres
Daft punk also did an amazing job for the background music
An interesting detail is that Rinzler is nearly silent and doesn't thump around on the platform like other competitors. It's a subtle way of conveying light-footed agility and skill.
What the hell happened to tron. It could've easily been on par with star wars and star treck. It was such a unique and cool world. Love neon and black suits
If you don't know, there was also an animated tron show called tron:uprising. It got cancelled but it had a really good plot

3:54 I never noticed he tried to pull off that breaking-the-floor trick he used in his first fight but Rinzler just positions his feet to avoid falling through the hole and then the hole repairs itself as they’re fighting upside down. God damn this movie was so cool.

I was totally captivated by this film. I was lucky to go to Disneyland when they where promoting it. They had a version of Flynn's Arcade. Also rode Space Mountain while listing to The Game Has Changed on my headphones. It made the ride that much more awesome.

Tron: Legacy captured an atmosphere and ambience all unique on it's own. I've definitely never watched another that's had the same feel, even though I could tell they were attempting to go for that.

I grew up watching Tron on VHS. When this movie was announced, I was both nervous and excited. I was HOPING they would do the original justice with a REAL sequel. I went to see this movie on opening weekend.
Through the opening act, I was growing more and more disappointed. Then the main characters went to Flynn's arcade, and it got to be pretty good. The resurrection of CLU as Flynn's right hand program gone rogue was a stroke of genius, but I really wasn't super sold on the film as a true successor until TRON betrayed CLU to fight for the users. DAMN did that moment bring it all together.
Finally, the bringing of a program into meatspace was the natural progression of the original premise of digitizing a user. Hollywood should be paying attention to the triumph of this film - it lays out how to make a REAL sequal, which treats its original source material, characters, worldbuilding, etc. with respect.
I remember when this released back in high school, Me and a couple of friends went to see if after class!
Was awesome seeing Daft Punk in the movie and making the soundtrack for this movie.
I had bought a pair of Tron Themed Phat Pants for shuffling! Those were good times
