The best part of this edit is it's done sooooo cleanly, I can't pinpoint what was taken out. That just shows how well animated this movie is. It almost makes all the talking seem like filler. I can't help but wonder how much of the rest of the dialog you can remove while still having the context make sense without it.

That's because you're watching it after seeing it with context. I didn't watch it, so it feels as if the girl and the boy were boyfriend and girlfriend and together they're trying to win the race, the girl is more desperate for some reason...and that monster truck dude was their rival, which was wrong according to this movie's wiki

Man, this film was truly an underrated. I know it has nothing to do with the book but the references and the special effect are so well done that it's hard to say no.
Not underated it's just the book was a lot better. I will give Steven Spieldberg credit he did a good job, but he cahnged too much of the story.
"It had nothing to do with the book"? obviously there were changes to put everything in a 2 hour movie, shares the most interesting parts of the book and still has the theme of a poor boy wanting to win the contest so as not to leave the Oasis in the hands of the evil company. ...if they had made a faithful copy of the book, the movie would be 4 or 5 hours long.
@@jessicaguarin3897 Forget a 4 hour movie man, the book is a whole series on its own! Jajaj. I agree, some of the original story had to be sacrificed in order to put everytbing into a movie. Regardless, Im really happy with the final result; the references and the VFX are just GODLIKE.
Somewhere in another multiverse there’s a director that took the story from the book, made into a film and made it even better 😉

despite the movie's faults, action scenes like these always give me the goosebumps, and I love it. I wish it had more to offer.
Personally I really liked it. I can look past the fact that it was basically "Nostalgia and Ads: The Movie". Also I liked the story.

Much like The Phantom Menace's podrace scene, the lack of music allows for two things: a real appreciation for the sound design, and the ability to put whatever music you want on it. Eurobeat is, naturally, a perfect fit.

Saw this movie in IMAX and i was blown away , what makes this scene so awsome is no music , no score ,just explosion, crashes ,cars speeding up, breaking , bike reving up ,t -rex roaring just spectacular scene

For the last half of year I watch something about LOTR every single day, thinking about reading the books now.
I absolutely refuse to believe that after 10 years no one ever tried reversing at the start of this race. Even by accident, look at gta for example people are accidentally finding exploits every bloody week and the player base isn’t that big anymore.
I thinkt the same, in one week some people sure we can find many other ways to win the game, bugging kong, clipping the car, get off the map etc
Ikr, gamer people have tons of time on their hands, any secret passage woulda been found in like 1 week after release

Literally the first time anybody ran that race, with that many people, SOMEBODY would have gone backwards, possibly even by accident. And considering nobody has ever beaten the track, you have to wonder why everyone keeps playing it like a death race instead of scattering to look for secrets.
@@TheGeekRex exactly, in the film the said that the game had been out for over 10 years, I can’t remember the exact amount of years and virtually everyone in the world is playing. You can’t tell me in that time someone didn’t drop their controller and accidentally reverse. Not to mention that there were legit teams of people getting paid to complete the level. The little clue he got to reverse is irrelevant.
This movie was visually amazing. Nobody can deny that.

I've never wanted so much to be in a movie than "Ready Player One", this movie will forever be one of my favorite.
This might be silly, but I fucking _love_ how @ 2:49 if pay 'close' attention to the sound design, you can clearly hear how the sound of Art3mis ' back wheels moves from your right ear to the left, perfectly matching the visuals.
Years back, some movies were being shown in 3D as a gimmick. But some films like "Ready Player One" look great in 3D! This race scene ruled in the theatre!

Bots would never be able to navigate the Oasis properly, it's far too complex. Plus, bots just don't have that human factor to actually improvise a bit.
To be more specific, the only way to win the game was to empathise with it's creator, something no bot could achieve.

Funny thing is, all that was edited out was dialogue. Music and a score were never actually put in the official movie anyway. Pretty cool. Also, the Batmobile makes the Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na theme as it screeches to the stop

A futuristic simulation and no one has a parser to figure out the race is impossible. And adaptive, or else someone would have made trainers to perfect muscle memory.

1. It may have an advanced algorithm, considering the dev could make a much more complex NPC at the end of film. So the patterns are hard to predict, like roguelike games
2. The race arent made to be finished. With tons of player, we could work together to find some glitch but still, we don't know how capable the dev are
3. It's a kill = restart type of game. You would bet tons would try at first, but less are interested to join. Remaking acc every single time? Hell we don't know what you need to try the race (max rank etc)
4. The plot are just kinda dumb bcs how could NOONE actually try to go backwards. At least let em do some secret stuff instead just driving backwards
@@3takoyakis #1-3 is that the race is adaptative (rogue-like) but the elements including King Kong seemed set. Kong will always beat the top racer into position. A parser would have discovered, in theory, that Kong always beat anyone with a perfect run.
#4 agreed. It was great popcorn but can't really try for any depth to it. I'm trying to remember when the book was written. Not pre-Internet but definitely has issues with how gaming has evolved.
So what if IOI had eliminated players who knew the secrets before they could attempt them by killing the avatars in game or the actual person in real life?
@@furu_2274 If IOI "knew", then they would have gotten the key first. You didn't get the clue to the second key until getting the first key. Only if you 100% knew the second and third key locations and solutions would you delay.
IOI was portrayed as having no tact or strategy aside from spamming the race with paid racers.
The sound team did a excellent job with this. Just the sound of the revving engines makes my eargasm 😂
I wish the whole film was like this. It could have been better than Avatar.

Most movies would be better if there was less talking and more action. Example: Pacific Rim, Godzilla, Transformers, etc. And they always gotta add a love to story to action movies. Action action action is all you really need.
