They were totally setting up Cillian Murphy’s character to be a smart and cunning villain in a sequel. We were robbed. This will probably be the most heartbreaking film cancellation I’ll ever witness.
They started filming with the original cast from Tron Legacy.

what the fuck, I did not remember Cillian Murphy being in this movie-it's wild having such a talented actor play such a small side character 💀
Oh, had they gone with their original plans for the next movie, that "small side character" would've been major villain numero uno! His whole employment at Encom was originally planned to be his way of worming his way into the company to get revenge for what happened to his father in the first movie! There's even a few little tie-in or promotional clips where he's texting someone......that someone being a rebuilt MCP! It speaks with its voice, and their conversation even ends with the MCP's signature "End of line......." Same way that Alan is shown going to talk Roy, and they refer to each by the nicknames that Kevin gave them because of the programs they created that he encountered and worked with in the first movie: Tron and Ram.
But, that idea has been scrapped......The whole original concept for the third one has been thrown in the bin. Which is kind of a shame......It'd have been interesting to see where they ran with that story!
Sam Flynn being the modern day Robin Hood- he literally gave a whole OS to the public for free!

2:33 the Nokia N8 was the first touch screen phone I had ever got my hands on...I used to be blown away with how amazing that thing was...I still have it to this very day
.....it had the Tron legacy trailer pre-loaded in the gallery
same here. it was never available in the US from cell providers and I had to order it from Europe straight from Nokia. it still has the best camera out of any phone i've ever had to this day. 12.1 mpx carl zeiss lens with ISO functions and all the goodies you'd want from a DSLR. i still use it as a camera and it is simply the coolest phone ever. it's the Tron Legacy phone. you can have whatever new phone is on the block, but he N8 is still the best when it came to touchscreen phones of the time. it crushed all of them. memory, expansion storage, could go to 32 GB with a 16 gb mini sd card, it had an HDMI output! on a phone! Best phone ever.

I remember watching the movie in theater for the first time, and losing my mind when Cilian Murphy is revealed as Ed Dillinger, which I assumed was related to the guy who stole ENCOM from Kevin Flynn in the original TRON movie. I had high hopes for a bitter confrontation between Ed and Sam for ENCOM control. A much tastier conflict, and a nice setup for a sequel. Not ready to let go of a potential sequel.
Supposedly that was supposed to be the plot for Part 3 ….and like you my dude I’m still waiting here 11 years later waiting for that 3rd part to happen 🤷♂️
@@edercortes1960 this could still happen! disney still respects the tron franchise, even if it was shelved for a while. were supposedly going to get a third instalment with Jared Letto and a ton more info soon. production is also starting sometime next year along with Legacy's 12th year anniversary.

Given that this is the universe of Tron, you guys need to remember that there now exists a little program dude in the Encom server who looks like Sam and whose entire purpose is to trigger that dog gif. I wonder whether this guy would have a prankster personality or an existential crisis about this.
