03 lb7 Duramax knocking!

- This is my 03 Durmax lb7 6.6 diesel. i was driving the truck home the other day and it began to knock, the oil pressure and coolent temp was both good if any one has any input on what could be causing this any info would be appreciated. thanks
UPDATE: After pulling the motor we found that the motor had a broken crank. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

Could be the Fuel Pressure Regulator (I know this is old, but people might have the same problem.) I had a similar issue a few years back. Had just filled it up and thought I had water in the fuel. Took it a 1/2 mile up the road to a Stealer and they told me it was the C3P... And wanted $5K to fix it. Instead I took it to a buddy paid $200 for an FPR and drove away without another issue.

And when I did mine I got a eBay one by boush for like 50 bucks... Look around there cheap on Internet

my brother in laws truck did something similiar. had to replace all the injectors
So I had some time the last few days so I tore the durmax down this weekend and found a broken crank so I have a lot of engine parts I wont be rebuilding the motor
ten years late but wish I had the knowledge to take a weekend and tear down a whole engine
What did this end up being? I have an 07 that sounds just like this. Sounds like it is from the front of the engine.
Thanks for your help the truck is still sitting at this time till I get the money saved up to rip it apart but I hope thats all it needs is injectors that wouldn't be as bad as a whole motor.

Air in the fuel the fuel there is a pump on top of the fuel filter u need to push that several times and start the truck and rev it up it will stop mine did the same thing

Broken Crank. Sounds like it's a rough ass 4 cyl.

check the fcm if those get dirt or water in them the can go screwy like that

could possibly be the injection pump too
start simple, a clogged fuel filter can wreak havoc on a diesel engine.

I had a 04 Duramax that ran like that a few years ago I just ran it till the gas tank was empty and I topped it off with 91 and it seemed to run fine after that

Sounds like you might have bent the shear pin on your cam shaft gear.
Bad injectors, stuck open.
Wow so it did end up being a broken crank? My friend just wrecked her truck 5 hours ago and when I went to get it it sounded busy like this when I started it.

Mine once done the same thing. Pop the hood and right on top it says 6.6 duramax,it's really easy to get to. All you got a do it get rid of it

yep, broken crank. sounds like only 2-4 cylinders are actually firing. somewhat common on Duramax's
Don’t they break at times because of the firing order puts too much stress on the front of the crank

Sounds like a injector or fuel pump then again it is a pos duramax.Early year models were bad for having crap injectors
injectors all diesel trucks at some point better than a turbo on a ford
Bad cp3, pressure regulator, bad injectors, broken crank. Who knows, really should diag this stuff properly before you end up dumping thousands into something and find the not-problem
I took the engine out and sure enough the crank was snapped but still ran, pretty incredible.
@@400exman87 I've heard of this happening to the earlier Duramax's a lot when you try and squeeze too much power out of em. Also occasionally seen them break in stock form
