I will maintain until the day I die that the only reason this movie flopped in theaters was because Disney released it in JULY for some bizarre reason.
They did that so they wouldn't compete with other Halloween movies

Excited! Also-I’ve always found Max trading his life for Dani was a direct reflection of Thackery and Emily. In a way, Max did what Thackery wished he could have done for his own little sister, and it’s poignant that Max and Dani are around the same age as Thackery and Emily were when she died.
I think the theme of history repeating itself is very much a part of this movie.

There's two Salems, the part of Salem where the witch trials happened is technically in Danvers. The rest of Salem where the tourist traps and museums are is the one that's famous and where they shot some of Hocus Pocus and Sabrina. It does lean into and capitalise on the witch thing, but there have been some debates within the town about whether or not they should stop (some people think it's disrespectful, other people just want to market it as an upperclass cultural center seperate from the whole witch thing.)

I say, let them have their money (Tourist Trap), but also in place where they are making money from the marketing, they also have to have the history on the real truth of what was happening and it was misogyny, patriarchy, misinformation, murder, innocent deaths from mass hysteria of mob mentality, power imbalance and historical sexist shame against women...have your fun but tell the truth of your fun and its history.
The actual trails and hangings took place in modern day Salem. Many of the accused and accusers lived in modern day Danvers.

Favorite part - other than the songs, it’s Max agreeing to be Peter Pan with tights the following Halloween to get Dani to cooperate so he can spend time with Allison. Would’ve loved to have seen a post-credits scene of that 😁

Not from Salem, but I have friends who are and I go to school in Boston…essentially it’s very witchy ya but almost too witchy and kind of camp in a way. October is extremely busy due to tourism and Halloween weekend is atrociously packed with visitors; although it’s very Halloween vibes all year round. But they do have a memorial for those who were accused and convicted of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials; which is really important I think.

My favorite parts in the movie is when Sarah jumps around saying "Amuck, amuck, amuck!" and any part with a black cat in it. Always loved black cats! My favorite part of the reaction was the offering of a treat to Benji but there were no treats, his reaction was awesome. October is the best month!!!
My favorite part is Winnifred in Gary Marshall’s kitchen, thinking it’s a torture chamber. 😂
I don’t know why it always disturbed me that Penny Marshall and Gary Marshall played husband and wife in the show. I just can never get past them being brother and sister in real life.

3:51 Painstaking research by fans confirmed she's been spelled - deleted scenes but we can piece together from earlier scripts, scenes we saw in the trailer we never saw in the movie and some scene sketches confirms the Sanderson sisters made some sort of candy-crow that they gave to the children and the something in them activates when Sarah sings her song - re why Dani, Max and Allison weren't affected by her singing and why the children just came to the house looking stunned. THackery was supposed to find one of the crows under Emily's pillow

If you love Bette Midler you should react to another movie she did in 1993 (same year as this movie) “Gypsy” it is a musical and she is phenomenal! Also her love interest in the movie is the guy who played the main officer in “The Mask” with Jim Carey. Love the show guys 🤟🏻❤️

I think you guys should watch the new Hocus Pocus if you haven't already... My Mom and I watched it last week and LOVED it to pieces!!! They DID keep a lot of the same elements they put in the first and the same in the second. (Including their attitudes and mannerisms;)) Which I personally really appreciated.
0:38 I watched the 2nd movie with my mom and she personally didn’t like it. It’s not that anything was necessarily wrong with it, she just thought that it was basically the exact same thing as the first movie.
I love when thackery is in the bag and when they grab the bag with him inside he says "hot cat! hot cat!" It makes me laugh also when billy cuts open hus mouth and he calls her a firefly from hell and just leans over and whispers to max "I've been waiting centuries to say that"
I absolutely adore this movie!!! My favourite scene is when Winifred opens the window, smells the fresh morning air, and says “look, another glorious morning… makes me sICK!” Because that’s exactly how I feel whenever I wake up
Doug Jones is also in Star Trek: Discovery as Saru. If anyone’s interested in watching Star Trek its a great series to start on, it takes place 10 years before the Original series and it keeps the canon of the overall Star Trek universe intact. It’s very cool!!!!
