Ok, got this watch too. The first one died within 24hrs. The hour hand got stuck somehow.. so that cost me sending it back and paying twice for tax & VAT... They never compensated for that. So that sucked... Also my MM300 Heimdallr died after a week too. This time the minute hand came loose. Still waiting on the repair/replacement. Remember: Heimdallr is literally 4(!!) people... So QC is 4 people too..
The second one is great and is developing some great patina... Also: if you take the shroud off you can wear it like that too and it really looks a lot like Seiko bottlecap...

Fun review! I have owned this precise version of the watch, for a little bit more than a year. It was my first bronze watch, and it has spent a great deal of time in the ocean. I remain very pleased with it. Here are a couple of details that I would add or even correct from your review:
--these screws that secure the shroud are not bronze. They are PVD in gold color, as is the buckle by the way.
--I find the strap to be very comfortable, but my only disappointment is the finishing on the edges. In your video you can also see the molding seams. I wish that Heimdallr would have the factory clean those off.
--your observations regarding how stiff the bezel is are well taken. In fact, the bezel stiffens up and can be very difficult to operate in the water. I have injected some Moly lube under the bezel and spend some time spinning it, to some good effect. It's a little bit smoother now. One thing for sure, it's not getting knocked out of position!
--mine has kept excellent time since the moment it came out of the box, and still does. Fantastic quality there.
--mine came in the older, blue plastic clamshell case. I have to tell you, I prefer the cardboard boxes that your watch came in, because I don't want a box I want a watch... and the new boxes are more compact.

I have the Heimdallr Sea Shepard (Tuna can homage) in steel and wear it more than any of my other watches. Really love it. 👍

I heard that in this bronze variation the bezel can be stuck due to the formation of patina and you should always take a special care and rotate it once in awhile ... So i lost interest in bronze watches even if i really like the look and style of them ... i like and expect from a dive watch to be really reliable with the minimum of maintenance possible ...

I have ordered absolutely the same watch but by Steeldive and with a fully lumed ceramic bezel insert. It's on the way. I really hope the SD bezel action is absolutely the same as Heimdallr and with no back play. Thanks for the review.

Bronze is not really for me,but I might be tempted if they were to produce a model in gunmetal which has a slightly copper hue which will patina to a dark grey. That goes for Steeldive too.............................

I have the same watch in stainless steel, Merkur branded. Although it's 47mm, it wears much smaller, as the top of the watch is narrower than the back.

I agree with you regarding standardization of names. I'm waiting for delivery of the same watch in stainless steel. It is made by the same company (Heimdallr) but the name on the dial HIMQ (something like that.) I do wish they would straighten this out for us watch guys in the west. Keep up the good quality of your reviews. Best wishes from the States!

I have the same version with Kanagawa dial.
Also the case is made of aluminum bronze alloy, same type used on the Tudor bronze “Black Bay”
The Patina is subtle and doesn’t result on a blue, green hue on the case

Thanks for the review , man. Keep your reviews detailed. I hear what you say about sounding the same. But what's to remember. You could have one person come across just one of your reviews. If it's one where you leave out detail, some may be disappointed. No assumptions, Keep it detailed. Thanks again.

nice watch but im turned off by the lack of day function and the white 3 and m why not just do the 300m in white

  • @AnthonyLauder
    @AnthonyLauder Před 4 lety +1

I do like it, but the "300m" looks like they just scraped the "2" off where it used to say "200m" and painted "3" there in the wrong colour.

I have the same watch from San Martin. The SN003-Q. I notice the only difference is the material of the lugs. With the Heimdallr it's bronze, with the San Martin it's polished steel. I think the San Martin gives less skin irritation then, because with the Heimdallr there will be a ring of bronze on your skin.
