    Just curious how a watch with a 2824 movement for only $50 more isn't the better value by a mile or ten?

    Islander does it for me. I like everything about it. It's the SKX that seiko should have made. They both hit alot of the checkmarks but the braclet on the islander is amazing comparitavly. I think support and parts from long island watch is a major plus in the decision too.

      I've never liked that Marc never used the same dial as the skx or improved it by adding the border to the skx markers, he just took the mm300 style, which is widely used in many homage manufacturing factories. Pretty sure they're just white label watches. He slaps his logo on and sell them for two to three times more, without a better overall improvement.

    I own the the Heimdallr MM300 ETA 2824 in both black and blue. It is an amazing quality watch that wears much smaller than the specs because of the rounded edges on the case and the extreme taper of the bracelet from the end links down to the mid links. Probably my favorite dive watch in my collection of a dozen big brands and microbrands including Seiko, Squale, Zelos, Yema, and Certina. The blue Heimdallr MM300 is truly stunning - same bold blue as the Rolex Submariner, absolutely beautiful!

    • @gilbertoflores7397
      @gilbertoflores7397 Před 3 lety

      Well the taper isn't that uncommon, it's 2 mm. The reason why lots of seikos wear small, is because the dial of the watches are 28.5mm. For comparison the dial of the SNKL that was very popular at 38mm has a dial of 30ish mm. So people with smaller wrist don't feel overwhelmed by the size of the dial, hands and marker; as it's the same as any that they're comfortable wearing.

    When you look at the price per spec I'd go as far as to say the shark master is really on par with the actual marine master. The marine master has better finishing on it for sure but it's also exponentially more expensive and the ETA movement really kicks it up a notch. It might be the cheapest way to get a 2824 right now.

What can go wrong? People seem to put too much emphasis on things that don't really matter, because if you so get that Chinese watch, if it's defective, they're obligated to either refund or replace it within a certain amount of time of you buying otherwise the site, will pay you themselves. So if you get a good watch out of the box, you won't have to worry, but if you do it's not a nightmare like people say it is. The hardest part is having to wait longer to get a the item you want. And just another point, you can ask the sellers for QC pictures before they Ship the item out. The brand proxima, will show you the beat error, the alignment and and case finish in multiple pictures before they ship it. So if you'd rather pay extra for something that isn't really all that worth it, or some peace of mind. Go for it.

    Both are decent value I have an islander monster with the intention of doing a seiko build and clasp is just absolute trash on it i ha e to hold both buttons to close the watch it’s so tight everything else is decent quality I went for the full lume dial which I planned on swapping but the lume is disappointing to say the least but that’s what you get when your used to seiko. The winner here is definitely the Marine master 300 is even better value and closer to the original the samurai doesn’t come with anything but a dive bezel so that just looks goofy with a friction bezel. Getting a Swiss eta and a monobloque case that cheap is insane. I think a lot of people are buying these watches to do mods and get a marine master clone with aftermarket or even oem Seiko dials and hardware for a quarter the price of a real one I agree with all the points you made pretty much the conclusion I came too but that mm300 homage is stupid low for what they’ve done with the case and movement the islanders are just mehh

  • @wakawaka1976
    @wakawaka1976 Před 3 lety

    The lume on the bezel is off putting on the Islander. You don’t need a timing bezel lumed as it just makes it harder to read. Sure people like glowy stuff but maybe lume the case back instead, that would be cool. If the bezel has Arabics 5-60 that would be great lumed.
