  • While I'm waiting for Ubiquiti to give me the green light on something with the build an ISP project -- let's take a look at how we're going to wire our equipment together and what endpoints we're going to use. We'll take a more indepth look at each piece as we get to the actual deployments. We're using an EdgeRouter Infinity, XGS OLT, WDM, and a few different CPE devices. Enjoy!

    If you build it they shall come
    About 8 years or so ago we were looking at deploying house to house WiFi internet service to cover a small town that was low income where we also provided social services. Came across 3 more times to do a similar project but it’s very difficult to get buy in and work with local municipalities
    If I were to do it again I’d hire someone like you for the tech while I deal with the bureaucracy 😟

    Hi willi great news I have been personally waiting for the above video since am ready to start running fiber fully on ubiquiti hardware end to end am more interested in the total capacity throughtput as well as the inter connection of the fiber backbone on ubiquiti devices and the maximum capacity per node. In addition how come ubiquiti don't manufacture splitters ?

    Hello willi....why you need a angle polish adaptator..?

    • @MystikIncarnate
      @MystikIncarnate Před 4 měsíci

      APC, or angled physical connector, for fiber inspires less loss and reflections when junctioned. So the connectors he's using pass more signal than the comparable UPC (flat, or "ultra" physical contact) connectors (blue). This allows the signal to go further down the optical fiber than it otherwise would, enabling much further connections, sometimes as much as tens of kilometers for passive optical networks like he has (or "OPN"; like gpon or xgs-pon).

  • @ifneeded1

      I feel like if you're in the networking field, and wanting to build your own ISP you should probably know what an OLT and PON is, and if you don't there is plenty of information available online.
