Voya, you are fantastic. Thank you for the information I always know what to purchase and get caught up on these devices from you. Your thoroughness is unmatched. Keep up the good work!!!!!
I just got the Update to 3.10 on my PC and the text conversion works just fine.
I really hope that they will sometimes make it possible to allign the typed text to templates ...
There’s an undocumented feature that lets you download raw reMarkable notebook files via the Web Interface and even upload it with drag and drop from the same, or even the desktop app
Finally! Thanks for the heads up, that is good news! :)
unremarkable update... like every update after 3.5, it's always very small updates for basically just type folio users. It's almost an year now that there are no updates for the pen-writing experience :(
12:50 the archive function is only on the Tablet, not on the app
The point is to save space on the device, and it’s kinda assuming your devices with the apps will have enough space I guess
I tried the desktop conversion to text feature, it works. I agree it is much more useful on a computer, because I can use the text in other apps. One little positive thing, after converting, the text is automatically copied.
I had to smile in many places as I realised that you were finding it difficult to be unbiased about this update, which I completely understand 😉
It's very difficult to try and keep the bias at bay, or at the very least, keep the "bias radar" up and active at all times :)
"And it does seem to have that new...ugly....font" I'M DEAD
Cool stuff. I finally got the desktop version of 3.10. One observation; would be nice if people could use own cloud storage services instead of remarkable cloud. Since I only have one RM 2; have you tested out using multiple RM 1 or 2 on the same account? how does file sharing work between devices and so forth?
Archive worked for me just fine as they stated. The tablet will still have the file listed but there will be a cloud icon on the file icon. It will show no status on the app about a file being archived. So the cloud and app have everything at all times. The app does not archive. What this is doing is just removing the file contains, saving memory space on the tablet. Yes, this is not exactly an archive but I knew what they were trying to do. It is just a tablet memory saver.
The archive capability is on the device, not in the desktop app. I have used it on several huge documents and it seems to be working fine.
Mine does the same thing yours does. I am a beta tester as well.
Good afternoon, I have a remarkable2 which after the update is stuck in starting mode loop. Has anyone experienced this? Do we have a solution on how to reset or break the cycle?
Has their handwritten to text software improved yet?
Nothing to write home about. Too bad. Thanks for the vid voya.
Another reason to not use get the betas.
So awesome and rare to see that you also put the Windows taskbar on the left side like I've done for a very long time. It's just better.
I'm sure you know but not sure why you don't do it, when selecting you don't have to draw all the way to the start of the line, just have a clear "line of sight" between the start and end.
Ah yeah, I'm so used to having it there, that I basically have forgotten that by default is down. I have been using it like this probably for well over a decade now :)
@@MyDeepGuide Even longer for me. And it's always weird whenever I use a PC where it's at the bottom.
I've had this buggy @6:45 "Popups have no bold rectangle to select, or no text-insert character to type" on non-beta, months ago. I don't use their betas... anymore since 2018 or 2019. So this focus bug (ironic) is something they have either fixed and recreated, or not fixed.
Hey, I'm planning to buy remarkable 2 in some time but do you think it is worth buying it now since the device is around 4 years old? Is their update on any new device from remarkable like remarkable 3 or any other device? Please let me know your thoughts.
As much as I hate to say it, at this point reMarkable 2 may not be the best option. If you can get a good deal and you are fine with the limited features, it is still a good writing device. I have reMarkable 2 for 4 years now, and still use it daily, so it is not a bad device. But I envy the features on Supernote. I am waiting for SuperNote A5X 2, so you may want to wait a little for that as well.
I also have a Boox device for 4 years. I like their new AI note software features. It has a lot of other features and the new color devices are intriguing, but I really only use the note taking part and only play with the other features. The general feel of the Boox device software is not very pleasant. I especially don’t like how it organizes local files for reading. It feels like how Apple does with music. The PDF files are added to a library, but if you have folders in your storage, the library does not care about them, so you have to organize them again in the Library. Feels tedious after you have 100s of PDF.
Age of rM2 is not big issue for me. Yes, it can have better internals or newer screen. But overall, it functions very well and I am not considering it old. I am not expecting that rM 3 is near unless some groudbreaking technology, mainly screen, would be around.
Software side of thing is kinda different story. It has real potential to be truly better but I don´t quite see their intention to get close to it. Updates are not as good, especially last year, and do not really elevate the platform or just really slowly. Thats the major factor to consider. I not saying it has bad software just lacking essential things.
If I were you now, trying to decide which device to pick, I would be leaning more towards SuperNote or BOOX. Ratta is really good company and they take great care about their SuperNote devices and users. So in that light, I would probably buy some SuperNote for note-taking purposes but for more broader case of use BOOX is better. I would have tough time for decision. Thats my perspective for inspiration and you should make your own since we all have different needs.
@@cameroncz3197 @mrmosk2011 thanks guys for your inputs. Actually I have looked into supernote and it is a great device but is a bit expensive. Not much of a fan of boox since I am not looking for a tablet but a device that does few focused things right. I am planning to get the remarkable 2 for around $300 with some discounts and also including the marker and a case (of course the marker and the case will be third party). Also one of the reasons for choosing remarkable is the design since I am a sucker for aesthetics.
This is just a personal comment from me but I have both the reMarkable2 and the Supernote 5x and I prefer the remarkable2 so far. It’s probably because my needs are simple. I just like the simplicity and ease and organization. But I don’t download a lot, I just use it mostly for writing and notes. I get confused by all the features of the Supernote. I agree that the support of the Supernote is better, but I don’t need all the bells and whistles.
@@LPS-mh8kxI agree on the supernote. I spent more time playing around than using it. However if the new supernote has any kind of back lit screen I may go for it. I do also like the calender on the supernote.
I have an unexpected behavior with 3.9 or 3.8 .. and I presume it will continue in 3.10 .. (1) Duplicate a file .. see a Rename pop-up, then quickly, (2) with your finger try to place the Text cursor at the end of the new filename. It won't work (3) Grab the (optional $$) pencil and rest your hand on the screen to prepare to tap the Text cursor at the end of the filename .. It won't work (4) Awkwardly hover your Pencil-hand over the tablet screen, like a mosquito preparing to drink blood from skin, and tap the Text cursor ... It might work. I often want to Duplicate a sort-of template I created, and update the end of the name to include the date in the filename. I have been having difficulty doing this for 6 months. I emailed support at Remarkable and they explained This Is The Desired Behavior. So frustrating.
I believe the Connect service is advertised as “unlimited cloud storage”
Yes it is, but Remarkable defines "unlimited" in a very peculiar way, and it doesn't mean unlimited space in GB. It means that you can keep the 8GB-ish worth of files for "unlimited" amount of time. Users who do not have cloud subscription have their files deleted from the cloud if they are not accessed in 50 days.
7:17 I haven’t had any of these bugs before, even tho I had used the Beta, weird….
Even weirder is that the "beta" device was also updated to the non-beta version of the OS. So it doesn't make any sense, yet is still 100% reproducible on that device. Very odd.
@@MyDeepGuide reminds me of how you had a similar ish bug when they added more keyboard controls and the UI would not “snap” to the right element, which was also on this Device
Hmmm, might warrant a good ol' factory reset and see if that shakes the gremlins loose.
Waiting for bigme and dasung monitor review!
Considering that neither have contacted me about those products, I think that you're in for a long wait. Especially because both of those companies have shown a very unprofessional approach in my previous dealings with them.
Does the new update support arabic language
I suspect they fixed it for the release but didn't give that release to beta testers. Yes, they should have changed the release number.. Their software control leaves a lot to be desired. I hope one day they will learn how to do this correctly. It is not rocket science.
Forever profoundly unremarkable
I think at this point remarkable should release a new device with the newest (power saving / powerful) hardware with its lightweight software so that we could finally get new features… Yes, remarkable has become a big profitable company with a Big Name CEO from Bose. BUT… Yeah. 😅
I don´t know what kind of features you mean that it needs better internals. I can come up with handful of them, which would be really beneficial to me, that do not need hardware update.
Besides, I think they wouldn´t be realising new device unless there would be some next-level technology (screen) that would really elevate their platform. But for its purpose, device is running very well. Next product can be some accesories for use of pogo pins. We have TypeFolio yet and I am interisting what they plan to bring to table if it is something. I have, for example, come up with "LightFolio" that would have external frontlight and replace traditional bookfolios maybe.
I think you’ve heard of rm-hacks. Would you consider making a video on it, or you wouldn’t since it’s a modification
Nope, I wouldn't because it is a direct violation of Remarkable T&C, since it is a software modification.
@@MyDeepGuide “copy, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, attempt to derive the source code of, decrypt, modify or create derivative works of the Software, or any part thereof;”
I assume it’s this specifically from the EULA?
Yeah, I am using rm-hacks and I can fully recommend this modification. At least rm-hacks is releasing features that users need and will use. :-)
Yes, key word here being "modify".
from what I’ve gathered on the Discord, they use the cache files for Qt(the app framework the reMarkable uses) to add features. It doesn’t exactly *modify* the code itself, only adds to it(but that’s only from what I understand of the system).
A note-worthy app
Updates to our desktop app: We've made it uglier.
We hope you enjoy the new and needlessly beige reMarkable experience.
