The first thing you need to do with the next engine is tear it down and look for problems!
Then, after the truck project is done, use both crate engines in a new HI / LOW project where you start with identical engines instead of identical cars.

I have a 1971 VW Bug project and ordered an engine built from a "reputable" shop here in Arizona. The engine was supposedly brand new, 0 miles. I didn't get to run it until a year after I purchased it. During this year gap, the shop closed "due to Covid". When I finally ran the engine, it blew up after about 15 minutes of running. Turns out the builder forgot to install the circlips on one of the pistons.

i doubt they did for normal customers. normal customers probably put it into there cars, add a power adder like nos or turbo or super charger and then boom, all warranties are canceled and it was your fault. if you kept it NA and it dropped a rod it would most likely get inspected and or sent out or back at the owners expense to see what happened but then GM could really say anything if they wanted

This channel probably saved my life. Over the past 8 or so months I lost my job, my girlfriend of five years is moving, I became depressed and my relationship with my family became strained or completely broken with some members, then as a final fuck you from life turns out I have colon cancer. I had zero energy to do anything. I had completely given up. Didn’t even eat for days. Or get out of bed. Then one day my cousin gifted me his old 07 Charger out of nowhere. It’s completely fucked. Electrical problems up the ass won’t even start but I’m slowly working on it. Then one day it was somehow okay enough now to go struggling around on solitary midnight rides around town… then suddenly my forgotten childhood passion of cars was rekindled. Next I found this channel donut and I was suddenly back to my childhood days making models or playing with my dozens of hot wheels all with customizations I crudely but passionately made using clay, poster paint, pipe cleaners, parts from other hot wheels, LEGO, anything I could get my hands on. I remembered playing fast and the furious with my toys and all the storylines and narratives and the made up jargon I used to sound legit. I remembered how cars were the beginning of my interests in engineering, robotics, chemistry, and technology. I kept watching donut videos and having so much fun I was able to get out of bed to go see if I can work on the Charger, make plans for it, try to drive her or simply just be an actual human again. I’m still low key fucked and so is the Charger. lol but for the first time in long time I have hopes and dreams and I’m finding meaning and purpose in my life. Even if it’s in something as simple as remembering to eat or getting out of bed. Or something more grand like my dream of having my Charger running and looking like a BEAST. I’m living life again. I have energy and motivation again. So from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.

I worked for the detail department at a GM dealership and the amount of brand new vehicle's that come in with issues are astonishing! One in particular was a brand new Yukon, price tag was like $112k. As i was cleaning it for delivery i found a quarter sized hole in the lower portion of the passenger door. At the assembly plant they just threw on a door that was suppose to have a trim option, but never installed the trim so the holes for the trim were exposed to the elements. Should have seen the look on the salesman face when i told him about it. Customer had already been waiting 6 months for it, within an hour the customer was there and eventually said they didn't want the Yukon anymore.

Hyundai OTOH, that was a weekly ordeal finding one that didnt have a QC issue. Clamps not properly on hoses being a major one for awhile. Seen a few that had bent pins in harnesses, so whole CAN systems were down. Had a GV80 3.5 that they didnt drill the hole for the boost recirculation valve. That one was bad.

These new engines are built on production lines that the manufacturers keep going at full speed and these problems happen all the time. Just the torque converter itself is sheer genius. Using literally nothing but fluid to connect the engine to the transmission. AKA no mechanical part/connection is used. Just fast spinning transmission fluid & centrifugal force.

10:15 The crankshaft that drives the oil pump might be robust, but the oil pumps on those motors have been known to fail - or at least become anemic. Plus since they're internally mounted, maintenance, diagnosis and repair means your pulling the top half of the motor and the timing cover. Huge PITA when they used to be externally mounted and easily accessible.
Your tear-down is showing that the reputation for being "reliable" or "bulletproof" lies mostly in the block and less in build quality and QA/QC...but of course we knew that 😉. Like the tear-downs, keep it up!
