    Finally fitted a Brushless set up to the WLtoys 12428. It also now has Metal Diffs & Oil Suspension. A quick run at the end of this video, a longer run and review will be carried out very soon, along with a Skatepark run.

    the other day my WLtoys electronics failed when i was up in the mountain and I had to do the long walk of shame with it, lost steering but I am now going to put all hobby grade electronics in mine now also.nice upgrades

      Nothing worse than the walk of RC shame! I recommend this mild Brushless set up, plenty of power, but not over the top. I got 46km/h down my street...so probably 50km/h with a decent run. 👍

    120a on a 12th scale rig is basically useless and you overpay for amp you're not even using. A simple 60a esc will work with the 540 can size motor without spending needless money on a huge esc that isn't even needed. That esc runs around 40 us dollars. A combo can be had for the same price or less that will work just fine. You do what makes you happy though guys. Take care.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  Před 5 lety +1

      Well the motors max current is around 70A on 3s, so it certainly would give extra performance over a 60A ;)

      No brother the stock elecs have a integrated reciever/esc combo that cant be split. You have to get another esc, motor and a controller to be able to fully swap all the elecs and do a upgrade. Otherwise the only thing you can upgrade is the motor only.

    But surprice the brand new set has also plastic gear and again i could not remove the same screw...this time i did not try to remove it. I end up using it as it was , with plastic gear.
    Do you have a tip on how to remove the screw without bracking it?

      @TomleyRC  Před 6 lety +1

      It lasted about 4 packs (about an hrs running), although I was not being gentle with it, so I think it should last longer now I've replaced the stripped Spur. It has full ball bearings (stock), metal diffs and stock plastic spur. I've decided not to replace the stock spur with a metal one so that there is a weak point, rather than risking destroying the diffs. I hopefully will get out again with it this weekend, now it's rebuilt with better dirt wheels/tyres 👍

    Hi tom. I upgrade my spur to metal spur n also all other gears to metal but still running same motor n its not running properly now. U think if i upgrade to brushless. Would it help for it to run smoother and fast again. As it will have more power output from brushless. Cheers

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  Před 5 lety

      All metal gears needs a bit more torque as it's a bit heavier, maybe to much for the standard motor. A Brushless system will give it better performance for sure. 👍

      John Salt The stock ESC is a combined one with built in receiver, if you put a Brushless in, you need to add a stand alone receiver/transmitter. The stock Servo is a 5 wire, standard receivers take a 3 wire.

      Francis, unfortunately you'll need to change the ESC and Steering servo to use a different Transmitter/Receiver. I recommend the Quicrun 1060 ESC, and as for a steering servo...I had to make bracket to fit one I already had. Not sure if you can get a direct replacement thats 3 pin.

    • @TomleyRC

      Because the ESC on these also has the receiver in it, you need to use a different transmitter & receiver if you upgrade it. I use a 'Flysky' transmitter/receiver for most of my stuff. As for the Servo, they are not a standard size, I already had one so I'm not sure exactly what type you'd need.
