So good to see an rc person treating the car as its meant to be run and not being smashed on the slate park. Thank you tomley rc
Thanks Dan. Now abs again I’ll do a bit of a durability test. But I never really keep going until it’s trashed
Yea btw bashers exist man thats what theyre meant to do
I really liked the in car and under carriage video.
Yes, it looked cool didn’t it!
1 to turn, 2 to burn! I'm gonna start using that to tell anyone new to the hobby! I remember always getting confused when I first started what channel was what lol
I bought the brushed Zorro as my first more serious RC car. Just did the conversion as shown in the video and it is just awesome! So much fun with endless torque and speed! Thanks a lot for the explanations for the conversion as well as for the LiPo handling. Very valuable content, Sir!!
Thank you, glad it helped you out 😎👍
I totally agree with you Phil,I want to take my cars back home in one piece,so I don't abuse them either.
Yes, you can still enjoy them without trying to break them
I use a yoga block as a stand for my 1:10 car when working on it. It's stable and dirt cheap
The onboard shots were great. And I agree with taking care of the vehicles, its no fun waiting for parts all the time.
Bought my first RC car and it arrived yesterday, an FTX Zorro. Love the videos, especially this one as I'm planning on doing a brushless upgrade. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! You are making things way easier for dudes across the planet. Cheers from Brazil!
I really needed this video, I bought a Max 10 Sct for my Arrma Granite yesterday
I used this same set on my 104001. Its great, perfectly matched IMO.
Im not even planning on switching a motor soon but found this video extremely informative, thank you very much.
sick video. i feel more confident now converting my element enduro
I have done this many times by now, but I still enjoy the content!
A round Ice tray or plastic egg tray is a perfect screw holder/sorter. Awesome videos, thanks!
As a noob to the hobby, there's alot of good solid advice. Really liking your channel.
Thank you so much for this. Extremely helpful for me as a beginner to the hobby. Brushless seemed like witchcraft before, now I'm definitely going to give it a go. Your channel is awesome mate, keep it up!
Thanks mate 😎
I agree i enjoy upgrading but not breaking so i love how you recognize moderation with speed. Flat ground is best for track racing in my opinion but those dunes are fairly gentle an make for some great camara shots 🤗
Really helpful Tommy. More videos like this are needed. This stuff is easy for you but not for most of us. Thx for the excellent video!
Yes... I think another will be coming soon
Once you go Brushless it truly is an art to finesse the truck/car around without utterly destroying it from the inside out. Your runs were classy. My very first build getting back into RC was a Lunchbox with a Surpass 4300 kv motor and esc. I had no idea what I was getting into lol. It has a Dumborc radio system too. I loved your video man.
Good advice in this vid Phil. Can’t beat a bit of FTX action. Those shocks are some of the best RTR damping you can get. I use them wherever I can get them to fit and arrma 3s springs if the cars heavy.
Brilliant and clear instruction, very inspirational!
new to rc cars as as I am a rc slope soarer but this video really helped a lot. Thanks
As a beginner I really appreciate this video. Thank you for posting. New sub from U.S. Love the channel !
I've learned so much from this video I appreciate you matey !
Great Video mate. After watching your video I just upgraded to a brushless system in my tamiya plasma edge2. I never knew what size to go for but now I've got a real little ripper on a modest 2s setup. Thanks for the tuition mate. Cheers from Adelaide South Australia.
A superbly helpful post!Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise Phil 👍
Brushless conversions are awesome. When I had it,I did a 5000kv brushless conversion on my sand scorcher. After upgrading all the gears to metal it hauled serious ass 😂. Though I did have to add a little weight up front to keep it balanced but still was a blast to drive, lol
That's what RC is all about... To enjoy them running cheap or expensive. That's why I really like your review and your running video. thank you for sharing sir and have a nice day
Thanks Gary. I love all RC's, such a fun hobby
What an excellent brushless conversion guide - great stuff!
Thanks Del. Plenty of videos it there... but one to add to the library 😎
I like them cheap hex driver sets I haven't had any problems with them tools at all 👍 another good vid as well man keep up the good work
Yeah, for some of the bigger cars, you need to maybe get some slightly better quality ones, but I’ve been using these cheap ones for ages
I'm still using a 4-in-1 Fastrax set of drivers that I've had for over 12 years, with no signs of wear yet. I got them for working on my Kyosho Inferno, when I used to race.
I have the cheap ones and have gone through 3 cheap 2.0 drivers the head rounds out pretty easy, but you can sand the end down to get more life from it. I also have a 2.0 and a 2.5 ball end mip driver and they ae very much superior, but if you are only going to be working on the cheaper wltoys type car the cheaper ones will probably be fine. I do like the higher quality driver for grub screws and I need to get a good 1.5, I have had striped screws that could I later removed easily with a mip 1.5mm, I borrowed from someone. You get what you pay for, but they are good for light work.
Good timing I have a Hosim 9155 brushed and need to change it to brushless!
Would have been so cool to have tutorials like this when I was starting on nickel cells and throttle servos. Very cool video thanks
A lot of great practical advice. Thank you!
Looks great and what I will do with my FTX - thanks for posting. Exactly what I was looking for! Cheers
No probs dude
Wow! Thank you so much for this! Will convert my toy grade 1989 Nikko to a semi-hobby grade. Time to wake up the childhood RC heroes!
Great video, will be putting a brushless motor in my zorro
Respect for this video. Helped me sort my DHK Cage r after the brushed motor lasted about 60 minutes from new.
No probs dude 😎👌
Another Excellent Video, well explained how to brushless video with bonus material !
Keep up your great work mate 👌🏼👍🏼
I am impressed with your approach bashing approach & do the same but with a 3s. Love the green you got there.
Thanks man! Learning so much from your videos! I always wantd to get into RC's when i was a kid, but never had the funds. Maybe i'll take the leap some day.
This was such a great video with great information! Thank you and please keep making more great videos like this!
I absolutely adore your videos! Thank you so much
Perfect time to see this video again( I rerun alot), the plan is to do similar to my Senton Mega with a 56 f-100 body to play with on road....love the content keep up the good work and thx ...always good for a laugh at least...
Great vid, trying to catch-up with stuff now I'm out of Queens Medical Centre, don't like hospital as it is but being tied to drips for 3 days. Will help my conversion plans so cheers.
Great video! Best explanation with extra info I've seen,
Great beginner´s video there Phil, everything nicely explained and I bet it will help out a lot of people. 👍
Thanks dude
Awesome video!!!
I'll be doing a brushless swap to a redcat blackout xte very soon!
Sweet brushless upgrade and bashing
Very informative, i feel i could probably do this now, might look at the brushless kit for the sg 1604...
Very much enjoy the fpv suspension action. Great video. 😀
Great how to. I'm thinking about ordering this same combo for my dromida backbone (same as ftx outlaw). So, essentially the same chassis as your zorro. Ali express has them for $43 right now, without the servo. I already upgraded to a Amazon 20kg metal gear cheapo anyways. Very fun rc for the price, just wish it had a bit more speed. Thanks for all the great info. Been watching your videos for about a year now. 👍
Fantastic work, Tomley! The car is MUCH better now! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks mate. Certainly woke it up a bit!
Thank you on upgrade motor to brushless now i now how it's done and the parts i need top video👍👍
I use the same tactic with screws. Somethimes for ex if i take motor out i put the screws next to the motor, when you strip your car apart. That was a verry nice and informative video. More like this one please👌🥙
I just got mine today from the link in your other video on it. Can't wait to take it out 112 quid is brilliant for what you get.
That's a super helpful video. I'm guessing the the principles are similar with most RC cars? I'm looking at building a speed runner out of my Wl Toys 124019. Nothing mega on speed but around 50/60 mph would be great. I also 100% agree with looking after the cars rather than destroying them every time you drive it
13:02 Plug in the servo and power it up (also center the steering trim on your transmitter) before installing the servo-arm to center it.
Good tip
A servo tester can help a lot as well.
Learned that one the hard way! Put the servo arm on and it flopped over when I powered it up.
Great info there needs to be more of this kind of content, thanks heaps for your time and efforts most appreciated
I really appreciate this. Thank you.
Like the look of that hows it going pal your videos are awesome keep up the good work bud 👍👍👍
Your quickly becoming my favorite RC channel!! Awesome video for brushless conversations 👌🏼, could you do a video on how to fit new/different rims and tires on an rc, like how to find the right size tires and wheels and what compound and foams are available for different scale rigs. It's sometimes a little overwhelming trying to figure out what wheels and tires fit on certain rigs... thanks and cheers Phil! 🍻
Cheers Craig, really appreciate the support 👍
Thank you so much for the motor size comparison with the brushed and brushless. I have been thinking about doing a brushless conversion on a couple of my cars and I started looking at motors and I had no idea what size motor to get. I always enjoys your videos, entertaining and informative. I hope your move went well, stay safe and have a wonderful day
Thanks Dennis, appreciate it
Hey TomleyRC. I bought a brushed xlf x03. Got it for $50 so not too disappointed. However, it is sluggish. What brushless motor and ESC combo do you think I should go with?
I just adding another message as I watched video and orderd the brushless combo and it arrived just over a week away and ids bloody brrilliant and so fast but thanks for letting us know about this system
Thx man i am ganna buy my first rc and that is this so i am gonna fefently get a bruchles moter in there thx alot👍👍👍
I bought the Zorro after watching your review of it. I was going to buy a brushless motor esc combo tomorrow for it, so the timing of this video is perfect. Thanks for doing what you do :)
I've done exactly this, but I ordered a amazon kit and I can't get it to run. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The motor and esc I have are hobbyfans though, not the same as this one.
@@arranshuker Sorry to hear that bro, mine should arrive tomorrow, I'll let you know when I get it running. My combo is different also but if you have the right spec motor and esc for your car, it should work ok.
Great vid again mate love watching your vids ive done the same brought brushed version of the zorro and put in a brushless setup in it and it's crazy and so much fun quick question tho any advice on keeping front wheel on ground on take off as it's constantly lifting the front right wheel and losing grip keep it up with great vids
Thanks for the very informative video!
I agree with the babying I like to look after my stuff there also in there box’s
Iv got the ftx outlaw, so it looks like that will be turning brushless very soon ,
Great content as always 👍🏻👊🏻🇬🇧
It’s a good chassis!
Thank you so much Phil. Your contributions to the RC community are insanely helpful, informative and fun. I'm quite new to the hobby and I've wanted to learn to brushless upgrade for a while and i thought my electrical degree would make it easy. However i found out that this stuff is quite different to what I've been doing at work so I have absolutely no idea as to what I'm doing. Thanks for this very well detailed and helpful video. Soon i'll have a drawer full of brushed motors that i'll have no use for.
You are most welcome dude 😎
Subbed. been looking for a few hours for a simple to understand video. I was big into RC cars and trucks back in the late 80s and 90s as a kid. I have no clue about this modern stuff. I still have my original Tamiya Frog. It's in need of a lot of work. I'm not interested keeping it original with vintage parts I just want to make it fun. Seen a few online that have gone brushless which look fun. So this vid has helped a lot to understand it more.
Great video good speed for 2s
I’m never flying again!-hahah. “I promise”. Great video appreciate ya. Nice angles, concise explanation, best vid on the subject for sure. I’m subbed.🔥🔥
Yeah man 40mph is more the enough. Great video mate, the truck looks fun
👍 Great video, everything explained in great detail. I like your way, you would definitely have made a good teacher too... 👍
Love the under body cam shots.
It's actually a nice project car. Loads of alloy parts available to get some more unsprung weight and a lower c.o.g.
It's basically a VRX RH1045/RH1045SC, for which you can find those alloy parts in China, and they even come in anodised blue.
Love your videos keep it up I just orderd motor kit that was in your link looking forward to it coming now
Thanks mate 😎
Nice share Tom, very informative... thx for sharing my friend 👌🤩👍
Great info!!! Big difference!!!🤘🤘🤘
Thanks mate
Thanks for an amazingly helpful video,im looking to do my 1st brushless conversion over the winter on a 1/10th DEERC 9200e as its a snail brushed lol 😂
Great vid. I have the same car and the same brushless set up but I swaped esc for a 120amp and upgraded to metal spur gear and metal drive shaft and ran it on 3s its a total animal and quite fun .
Sounds like it's a bit of beast!
Yes it is I've almost upgraded everything I can to handle 3s metal Chassis metal swaybar and and new wheels and tyres . Great channel look forward to your vids.
really useful, i'm upgrading a rising storm at the moment, and want to get more power, basically ive put new body and big truck wheels on it, i wondered will this provide the power i need, was running a 13T motor, but it took ages to get up to speed, so will this upgrade provide off the start speed?
Gran bel lavoro ...modifica essenziale ...ora è un missile ...bel video. .. ciao dall'Italia
Hi Phil, thanks for the awesome content, me and my son look forward to your videos every week. A bit of advice if you don't mind, I have done a brushless conversion on my Zorro, 4370kv 3650 surpass motor and a 120 amp esc and stock gearing as you did, I am getting serious cogging issues even on smooth surfaces to the point that it hardly moves, any ideas as you seemed to have no issues with yours. Thanks in advance for any help and please keep up the great work and channel. Cheers Nik
Perfect timing! Want to convert my sons 550 Typhon to 3s. 🙂👍🏻
Brushless Typhons are really nice to drive! I'd go for a 80a or 120a ESC with that
@@TomleyRC Thanks for the info. 😊👍🏻
Thanks for conversions ,I wasn't sure on 24mm to 370 cans , trying find the right combo for the mini t ,mini b , I have one with 280 6000kv dynamite 70 bucks and only does 35 mph if your lucky , than I have 2845 380 with hw 30 amp stuffed in but its only a 3100 kv .
Love the intro
Great video, thanks!
Great info and video Bro!! Very nice video. 4 thumbs up!! I enjoyed it a lot, I like a lot your style. Yeaaah!!
I agree with preferring not to break things and not wanting to wrench on them. Some people enjoy wrenching on vehicles, but it's not what I enjoy. I don't mind doing minor fixes, but beyond that, it can be a turn off. One thing I learned the hard way is to keep looking over your vehicle for loose screws. That's one way to break things quickly is having loose screws.
I had a Rustler VXL (my first real hobby grade RC) that I kept breaking things between loose screws and pointless aluminum upgrades. Was at a point where I was breaking things almost every time I was out, and I ended up taking about a year off of RC because of it. Bought a new one, kept it mostly stock with the exception of the occasional RPM replacement, and look over the vehicle, and rarely break anything now.
I run most of my rc on 2s just because of the fact that usually there's less damage. Good video as always bud 👍
Are 2s batteries quick
Excellent video and tutorial. If you were going to upgrade the suspension what would you recommend if you don't mind me asking?
good advice on charging but you should also use a lipo charge safe bag
Im doing my first custom 1/18 drifter and was wondering if esc amperage will effect the reciever i need to use, love your videos boss always super helpful and engaging
My thoughts exactly , ive done probably a dozen runs with my Zorro Nitro now with its larger tank fitted and never broken anything, what you have to do is consider the scale of the jumps you do, a real sized car will probably jump 15 feet easily but a model more like 2 to 3 feet. even my 1/8th thunder tiger st1 with a .28 / 4.6hp engine doesnt get higher than that and its built like a tank. Nice conversion I may well consider getting an elecy one just to try this on 3 S. there seems to be two different chassis's one with blue trailing arms at the rear (not so good but lighter) and a more solid independant swing arm chassis version the same as the nitro has.
I love my dumborc controllers they work great
Nice one Tomley thanks
Very informative thanks 😊
You’re welcome 👍
