The whole stealing the Enterprise sequence is, by far, my favorite movie experience.
"Gentlemen, your work today has been outstanding. I intend to recommend you all for promotion... in whatever fleet we end up serving."
"And… now, Mr. Scott."
"Sir?"
"The doors, Mr. Scott!"
"Aye, sir, I'm working on it!"
Grand Theft Enterprise.
Should be a video game.
Also mine. ST3 is a tough movie to love, it is 60% awesome and 40% cheese. But the Starbase scenes, especially the stealing the Enterprise part, are awesome. I sometimes rewatch that sequence.....
Kinda made all the new blood in Star Fleet seem like a bunch of ignorant idiots who didn’t respect the OG crew, gotta love them putting them in their place
_"The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."_ ~ Mr. Scott
ST:III is the first Trek I experienced in the theater... an 8 year old me was blown away.
Plus! 1st time Excelsior, Oberth-class, Space Dock, and *BoP*
First I saw in the theater as well. Space station/dock was the best part to see as a kid.
In regard to Saavak, the novelization kept her much the same as if she was played by Kirsty Ally. It's why in the book, her and David sleep together.
ST3 will always be the Star Trek entry that established Oberth-class starships as guaranteed death traps.
It's alway fascinating to know about how the spaceship models, were built, filmed and lit. ❤️
Always enjoyed this film. Very underrated
Concur; it unfairly gets grouped with _9_ , _7_ , and _5_ as among the bad Trek films 😞
I disagree about this being "not the best movie". It vastly improved the Klingons; the one exception being Kruger being piratical and not very honorable.
My headcanon is that Klingon culture wasn’t all about honor during 23rd century. They’d moved away from their old traditions and become the schemers we see in that era.
Then, after Praxis nearly collapsed the Empire, they did some serious soul searching and the culture shifted back to their historical honor-based warrior culture.
Not all Klingons were about honor (cough, Duras. Cough, cough, Duras sisters), so there was no contradiction.
@@mitcharcher7528 - That would fit in well with their willingness to trade technologies with the Romulans at the time.
Although when Kirk asks for a minute to inform his crew, Kruge does grant "two minutes for you and your gallant crew" which is arguably a teensy bit honourable. ;)
Klingon honor is like Jell-O looks impressive but fits in any mold convenient to the moment
ST II, III, and IV were the best film trilogy. They worked perfectly together. Even if the door to Kirk‘s apartment opened in the opposite direction in II & III
Gotta say, I really love the thumbnail for this video. The Klingons look like they were posing for their best music album yet to come!🤣
To whoever picked it: You deserve a prize!!!
This movie, and only this movie was on tv yesterday, so I was so pumped to see what I already knew
I would love videos like this for all 13 Star Trek movies! Please make more if you can!
On it! 🖖🏼
Completely agree!
Damn, I never even realized how difficult it must have been to shoot the space scenes; I grew up thinking it was all computer work! 😱😱😱
They didn't actually have computers back then that can do what computers do these days
Am I the only one who gets a strong Bohemian Rhapsody vibes from that Thumbnail image?
Now you mention it YES
This is just fantasy.
Klingon Bohemian Rhapsody is already a thing
This was my childhood. I loved it. Sarcastic Vulcan salutes 🖖🏻🖖🏻.
"how many fingers am I holding up" lol
It's always been said that the even numbered Star Trek movies were better than the odd numbered ones. While this may be true, Search for Spock is worlds better than Nemesis and IMO better than ST:IV as IV looked more like a TV series episode and not a Star Trek movie.
IV just felt like they were trying too hard to make a comedy and just seemed ridiculous when I last watched it a year or so ago. I don't want a movie to ever bee completely serious but IV just went too far in the comedy direction compared to most Star Trek movies.
Could do without the embedded ads, but I suppose that's what the right arrow key is for.
Hey he puts it together for us, he deserves some CZcams bucks.
I always found, that the BoP-Bridge in ST III looked very Romulan just with added Klingon Symbols.
Maybe the Klingons and Romulans designed it together, because in that time period they were allies.
I even had ST III on VHS 🤭, looking forward for part II ps: great job guys, thank you 🖖
Same here
I will always love the move because it started my whole Trek career.
But as we say on Earth… C’est La Vie.
Under no circumstances do I see an actual Klingon. What I see is the doc about to get into a DeLorean…
And his ship is used for time travel...
Thank you for having Adam do the "commercial."
I only watched this for the HELLO FRESH plug (just kidding!)
Great video
The odd numbered rule thing only came with Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek III does get unfairly grouped with them as a bad movie. My opinion though is Star Trek III is as good as Star Trek II and is a fitting sequel to that great movie.
Oh, C'mon, admit it, Sarek had an 'Ear Job', his Earth wife told him to. 😜🤣🖖
Human ears and noses just keep growing. Some Vulcan ears shrink, Big deal.
Kirstie Alley was missed.
Not that much.
Robin Curtis added more edge.
I really love this video.
Well Sean that was interesting Thanks for sharing
9:50 Enterprise and Excelsior's parking spots look to be pretty far apart. 10:00 looks like Enterprise is ramming the Excelsior.
not a targ, was a warrigal according the novel
Glad to support this channel! Just signed up for Hello Fresh with your code. Gonna give it a try.
Maltz... Choooiii Choooo
My headcanon has always been, Sulu was up for promotion but missed out because of his involvement in rescuing Spock. By the time they got back in ST3, Sulu was back at the bottom of the list until Excelsior was available.
I enjoyed Search For Spock 🖖🖖
doesn't explain why it was the saucer section that blew up from self-destruct, when the warp core is at the other end... (and would have obliterated whole ship!)
Small explosions all over the ship renders it useless To salvage
Star Trek 2 &3 is just one movie . One perfect movie
I really liked it.
That's all good to know. Thank you.
Great Star Trek 👍
20 Things you didn't know about Hello Fresh sponsored by TrekCulture would be a more fitting title.
😅😆
If any Enterprise should be destroyed, it should be JJ Abrams Enterprise.
He did, in Beyond… but then they built a new Enterprise A that looks… odd.
Kirstie, not Kristie.
Definitely in the top 5 Trek films, its kinda my favorite.
Man, it would have been cool to see the Romulans as the baddies in this one though. We barely saw them in much that was pre-TNG
Never mind the "absent gravity", you don't get fireball explosions in space anyway!
You can skip to 5:32 to avoid the unnecessary embedded advertisement
3 was my favorite until 6 love all TOS films (okay 5 is just tolerable)
I always read Fifi as a Jackal Mastiff.
Okay but this is the only ad that I watched on any sponsored video😅
STIII is the best one in the series!!!!
My 8th birthday party film :)
Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerd!
Kirstie Alley was far more attractive as Savik
Credited as "Woman in Cafeteria"?!?!
Same actor - but not same character (perhaps in order ro pay GLW a bit less; she more than made up in The Undiscovered Country (1991) and ST Voyager: Flashback (1996)).
Good to see you Adam! Enjoy those playboy bunnies!
The cafeteria Scene where the Enterprise should have been hitting the Excelsior that has always bugged me
Why is it never mentioned Director Nimoy searched Paramounts Files and conceeded they
Wished they had kept kristy but the studio has the money just shoukd have thrown it to her quietly
🤔🤔.... Why does the saucer section blow💥💥 when the auto destruct works by collapsing antimatter containment in the ENGINEERING SECTION...!?!?🤔🤔
In fact the secondary hull remains completely intact.
Did you answer that one..??
Because the FX crew thought it looked cooler? 🤷
Maybe there are backup explosives to blow the saucer 🤷🏻♂️
There are 2 self destruct modes. 1 is antimatter. 2 is normal explosives
@@PaulMcElligott you’re actually correct, two different ways. 1) because it did look better than blowing up the bottom. 2) Since Star Trek II everything was based more on Starfleet being a Navy than the flower loving, bandage giving Roddenberry vision. When trying to self destruct in reality the area where it’s being blown up from is always the first place to go.
I think there’s a few “modes” to self destruct, blowing up the warp core might have also destroyed the Klingon ship and now they are stranded on a soon to die Genesis. (Another mode seems to be an “instant” destruct with no countdown at all… ship wide suicide… yikes.)
Also...
Star Trek III takes place in the Star Trek Universe.
One thing that bugs me to this day is the considerable unexplained extra damage added to the Enterprise. With all the effort and detail put into the superb effects, it’s a huge mistake.
Why no ups and downs for Prodigy?
Love you guys, but I hope you will reconsider having Hello Fresh as a sponsor as they are a union busting company.
F**k unions
Great knife skills
Your commercial interruption ruins the video
Admiral.... David, is dead.
Who hates this movie?! I LOVE Search for Spoke!
Ya I like the movie, but the rough scene where Kirks kid gets killed, is why I have seen this movie twice. Which for me is a low record.
Lame advertising guys.
Never liked Kirstie Allie. Always thought she loved herself too much. Happy she did not reprise.
Boy you nailed that one. Lol. She actually is a very good actress she just wanted way too much money to reprise the role.
Paramount screwed-up by not signing her to a standard 3 film deal, when she was cast for TWOK.
We don't need Hello fresh we have repacaters
0,0,0......destruct.....0!
It was better how they did it back then now it's so easy just get a computer
I'm just going to say, too many "No" moments.
TOO MANY ADS!
You baited and switched hosts. Shame.
Looks like I'm done watching what culture. Obnoxious endorsements right in the middle.... No thanks. There's a reason people cut the cord, don't do the same bad ideas.
Yeah they could have edited it or positioned it better in the video
I just moved the slider past the ad.
Worst replicator effect ever.
Claiming that anything no longer works in cannon due to the series Enterprise, when that series did nothing but break cannon at every opportunity possible is laughable at best. Ignore anything that happened in that awful series because none of that is cannon, an cannot possible be cannon as it violates EVERYONE that had been established in every series and movie that pre-dates it. (that being said, nothing after that series should be considered cannon either due to it's pollution).
You get a dislike only because you force ads on me even though I am a paid subscriber to CZcams to not see the freaking ads. I pay for things I want, and what I am paying for with CZcams is to NOT See Ads!
Agreed. This is "20 things you didn't know about Hello Fresh sponsored by TrekCulture".
I rate Adam and Sean, I don't rate HelloFresh
Long ass ad
Robin Curtis is a much better Saavik
Kirstie Alley: "Damn."
