Kruge’s ship is later used as a time machine (in Star Trek IV), kinda like Doc Brown’s DeLorean.
People seem to forget that Christopher Lloyd has dramatic range, like his role in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
And he was great in Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead...
I loved him in Taxi. "What does a yellow light mean "? When his character was taking a driver's license test. Such a funny scene 🤣. Look it up on CZcams.
And there is no way kids saw his Judge Doom act and though of Back to the Future - I sure as hell didn't.
I never understood why folk consider TSFS, a bad film its a fine film
"its a fine film"
I think that is the problem: the company it keeps.
Now, don't get me wrong, I've always loved it. But then, I've always loved all six of the original cast films. That said, while TSFS is a "fine film" in its own right, it isn't "great" to the degree that TWOK and TUC are. It isn't as grand in scope in TMP is. Nor does it possess the levity or uniqueness of TVH. It also lacks the notoriety (which I believe is mostly undeserved) that TFF has. Put simply, it just doesn't stand out as much, while the other five all have something that makes them pop in people's memory. Therefore, although it is a fine film in its own right, it is surrounded by films that are *more* memorable for some reason. Thus, the public perception is that the film is worse than it truly is.
@@silverwriter6739 Calling something "fine" means different things. Depending on usage, "fine" is high praise or middling praise.
Now I want to see Commander Kruge acting like Reverend Jim. It just seems like it would be hilarious.
I think it was Robin Williams who worked that into a routine. "You won't give me the Genesis Device? [pause] Okey-doke."
Something to watch while snowed in!!!
I’m kinda jealous. I grew up in Maryland and now I’m living in SoCal. I miss my snow days!
Jim...... your name is Jim. I cannot tell you how happy I felt, nor how apt the soaring theme dropping in that scene to this day without getting a boost.
Kruge had a secret Klingon Mr.Fusion device in the engine room. It proved handy in Star Trek 4.
@@johnbockelie3899 Great Scotty, well if it had broken down they could have taken his Taxi.
I just can’t see anyone else but Chris Lloyd as Cmdr. Kruge. (Same with Lorne Greene as Cmdr. Adama).
It MAY be possible that Spock has/had a kid out there. I mean if Saavik helped the "young" Spock with his Pon farr... eh, maybe.
His son has been dead for 5 thousand years.
If I remember correctly, that was supposed to be addressed in the fourth film in a scene where Amanda and Saavik are watching the HMS Bounty depart for Earth. Amanda asks Saavik if she had told him (Him, in this isntance, referring to Spock).
I've always seen this movie as Kirk risking all for Spock as Spock risked all for Pike.
I'm sure then Fan-Fic Writer is so happy that their poem was such an influence!
Kudos to fans and their hearts left on their sleeve!
I wonder if the producers paid them or just stole the fan's concept.
@@BTScriviner It's highly debatable if anything was stolen. I can't recall, but if Kirk actually refers to having left "his noble self" behind, there might be a legal case. If he says anything else, there was no copyright infringement, merely inspiration, which is how all art moves forward.
Ohhhh some good lunchtime viewing, thank you!
Lloyd was awesome.
Around 9.14 there is a guy behind Leonard Nimoy wearinf a surgical mask that is a common sight now but wasn't then.... ok which one us nerds invented a time machine?
Great 2 part vid. Cheers
I still believe that Lloyd played the best Klingon to date, sadistic and authoritarian, yet very expressive and commanding...
He was fantastic. But I think the dude that played Gowron in TNG/DS9 was the best!
I dunno... I would have LOVED to see John Colicos reprise Kor on the big screen
But maybe, just maybe, we can get James Callis to play him in an upcoming Kelvin Timeline film, bringing everything full circle with both Baltar's from Galactica playing both Kors on Star Trek :3
@@k1productions87 Callis just appeared in Picard.
Though, reusing an actor in Trek is pretty much a given
*Cough*JeffreyCombs*cough*
Lovely video Sean. Thanks
Seán Ferrick is the best presenter on this channel.
And the only one who actually work...
Great video
I didn't know any of these things!!! great video!
About Lenord Nimor breaking type cast, Transformer fans loved his role as Galvatron in the Animated 86 movie and Sentinel Prime in the live action Dark of The Moon.
🖖😎👍Very cool and very well done and informatively explained and executed indeed 👌.
Thank you Seán!
Live Long and Prosper! 🖖🏻👨🏻🦲👍🏻
Yes, Saavik does look down when first encountering Spock. But when the crew re-assembles around him after realizing that his soul has returned, Saavik looks directly at him and holds her gaze on him when he turns to her. A realization for her that she truly did the right thing in helping Spock through Pon Farr.
Standing on the hill with Amanda in ST IV as the Klingon Bird of Prey departs Vulcan is an acknowledgment that Amanda now sees Saavik as her daughter and mother of her Grandchild.
I suppose the only remaining mystery is when did Saavil learn that she was pregnant.
EJA would have been great as a Klingon!
The man becomes very driven and focused on his character, he didn't sleep for BSG so he could get into Adama's mindset. I 'd love to see him rock up to set. Bark in Klingon.
Noble Self. That's a good way to put Kirk
Fascinating. .....most logical.
FINE, I'LL SUBSCRIBE
Please do a video about the "same storylines" across different star treks. IE:- Polywater
I only know Christopher Lloyd from Star Trek and Back to the Future, seems strange to see him in anything else. Well, there was that kids math cartoon, Cyberchase on PBS, too.
"Common wisdom" in pop culture, and more specifically Trek fandom, is so annoying. Especially the "even movies good, odd movies bad" trend that dogs the films to this day.
Things like this curb actual thoughtful analysis. Neither TMP or Search for Spock are anywhere near bad. Hell, TMP, especially the director's cut, is arguable the best Trek film. And while Search For Spock acts largely like a coda to Wrath of Khan without as much going on narratively, it's still a very good film and worthy of appreciation in and of itself. The first 30 minutes and the last 15 minutes are some of the best Trek films have ever been. The middle section does get a bit draggy, but it's hardly boring.
Some of the most tender and emotional moments in the series happen in this film. Shatner does some great, subtle work here. The close up of his eye as Sarek mind melds with him is so good. There is so much emotion and pain there and Shatner sells it 100%. And the moment Bones tells Spock he doesn't know if he can handle losing him again is some god tier emotional pay-off.

Best movie in the series
One question I would like answered: at 7:34 seconds the guy sitting next to Leonard Nimoy is wearing a surgical mask, why?
It looks like he’s sitting next to a fan that’s blowing fake snow. That’s almost certainly stuff you don’t want to breathe in.
@@thebigitchy Yeah...That's not a surgical mask; that's a dust mask.
This video is far more interesting than the movie was.
0:31 David Icke?? Are you... sure about that?
David Eick.
Not the lizard people nut-job.
I never knew that Lloyd played the Klingon captain.
Great Scott!
Remember me, Jimmy? When I killed your son, I talked...just...like...THIS!!!
@@The_Str4nger Oh.... The Dip.
This is basically the Wikipedia article made to pictures.
Looks like a klingon ship to me. The romulans weren't in star trek 3
Ronald D. Moore's reboot BSG is straight up awful.... BSG 1978 is the real deal.....
I always see Lloyd as being too skinny
Where are the Star Trek prodigy up and down videos. they seem to have stopped at 1.5
I’m not crying you’re crying.
Shut up.
I still think Savik should have been court-martialed for David's death. One Star Fleet officer and two civilians. It was her job to jump the Klingon, not David. She likely could have beaten the Klingon, too. Just... irks me no end. Her job was to protect the civilians.
She didn't want to risk her unborn child...
@@logansmall5148 that is not logical…yeah that sounds awful
Not watching your click bate bs again!!!
