  • The San'Shyuum are a species that once up on a time used to allied with Homo sapiens, well our distant, taller, stronger and more intelligent ancestors. But after allying with humanity, humanity would go on to discover the flood which in turn, they would have to resort to some pretty terrible measures in order to stop the flood from progressing. This would end up kicking off the conflict with the Forerunners. After the L was handed to Humanity and the San'shyuum, They would be altered and punished by the forerunners. Fast forward 100,000 years and the San'Shyuum are literally trying to do away with humanity before the covenant ultimately falls apart sending them into hiding. In Halo infinite we see Chief get attacked by what we can assume to be a San'Shyuum, although this is just a hypothesis. In todays episode, we will discuss how they got to this point, and why their bodies appear so frail!

You don't even need to know the spoilers to know the Harbinger wasn't a San'Shyuum seeing as how we've had plenty in the Halo franchise about them. I'm gonna be honest, you should do a simple fact check on something like Halopedia to confirm things fully before firing off on the video

    5:51 In case someone hasn't already brought this up, the main reason why the San Shyuum civilization recieved a drastically-less harsh form of retribution from the Forerunners is that in the very end of the war, the Ur-Didact (yes, the same one you fight in Halo 4) made a back-alley deal with the central government of the San Shyuum, that in exchange for the secret codes and passages through the defenses of Charum Hakkor (Ancient Humanity's capitol world), the Forerunners would show their civilization a great degree of leniency, placing them under demilitarized quarantine and restricting them to a few worlds instead of completely erasing their civilization from history and regressing them back to barely sapient. The reason why it was such a big deal for the Forerunners to break the defenses of Charum Hakkor was that the planet was created by the Precursors, the godlike race of eldritch reality-benders who created the Forerunners and Humanity and whose trancendant technology could not be damaged by anything in the material universe. This led the dwindling human forces on the planet, bereft of any support or supplies from outside, to continuously fend off constant attacks from the full might of the best that the united Forerunner empire could throw at them by hiding behind the invincible eldritch geography for over 53 fucking years. After the San Shyuum's central government gave the Didact the way in, though, the remaining human resistance swiftly fell.
    Though that's not to say that the entire species is to blame for their treachery: it is mentioned in the Forerunner Trilogy novels that throughout the siege of Charum Hakkor, there were entire armadas of San Shyuum ships waiting outside the borders of the system full of reinforcements and much-needed supplies, but they simply had no hope of getting past the billion-something swarm of Forerunner ships blockading the place. There also should definitely have been San Shyuum forces stationed alongside their human allies in the system itself and across their shared territories who would have protested to the decision of their government due to loyalty, a sense of abandonment, or simply comms issues.

    The Halo Book Divine Wind, features a San-Shyuum warrior who definitely shows what their species are capable of.

    • @rushpatriot2866
      @rushpatriot2866 Před 2 lety

      @@Riflery I also read a little more into it. Most prelates died at installation 05 which is halo 2 around this time the book ghost of onyx was happening. So most of alpha and beta company Spartans were killed or turned into cat 2s like noble team. So when they say prelates are like Spartans or can take on Spartans the lore is talking about cat 2s spartan 3s or spartan 2s. Prelates are indeed stronger than you think.

    • @Riflery
      @Riflery Před 2 lety

      @@rushpatriot2866 I never read shadow of intent (forgive me) but I recently read Divine Wind.
      In Divine Wind the Silent Shadow blade master was explained to be considered a big threat to the Spartan lll's.
      At the same time the blade master was considered a threat to the Prelate.
      With it being alluded that the blade Master could have taken on one of the Spartans, and that the blade Master could have taken on the Prelate, I think it is safe to deduce that at the very least, the Blade Master was the best single warrior among them.
      And during the final confrontation one of the Spartans did take on the Prelate for a few moments (I THINK) and if I remember correctly the Spartan beat him.
      So I would put it like this.
      Chips Dunno>Spartan ll> SS Blade Master>Spartan lll> Prelate> Spartan lV> ODST> Marine> Civilian> Grandma> Me.

      It was centuries of genetic manipulation into the Ancient Human equivalent of dogs “Pheru” as they were known. The Pheru were herbivores but they were aggressive and needed to be ‘tamed’.
      The AH put the powder into them to make them more docile but it probably brain raped them into not doing much of anything, and over the centuries the powder mutated with organic life into less desirable traits such as growths and the Pheru turning cannibalistic. They eventually ate people; the people ate people and ‘Flood cults’ started being a thing until it got so out of hand that led into AH being actually targeted by the real Flood and then attacking infected Forerunner worlds that led into the Human-Forerunner War.

      There is a theory out there the precursors and the flood are the exact same thing 100%, there a few videos on YT that go into the details. but the basics of the theory is that when the cryogenically frozen precursor was interogated by the forerunner AI medicate bias, the being told the AI the truth about the flood, and this theory suggests that the truth is that the flood was planned, the precursors value both happiness and suffering, and that both are good things that should happen, that need to happen.

      I'd love to see a Prelate as a major boss, akin to Tartarus: Someone who is, without any doubt, superior to any Spartan, even 117. It makes sense considering the Prelates are created with vastly superior technology to that used to create Spartans, especially since it seems unrestrained by the normal Covenant taboos about certain uses of Forerunner tech - a Prelate should be a far scarier opponent than any Brute, Elite or Spartan could be.

    So they were very similar to humans once upon a time. It seems they went through the same stent as the belters did on the expanse. Plus the 1,000s of years with limited genetic material is very impressive they can potentially live up to being a thousand years old. That might also have been less severity punishment from the forerunners as well. The gene therapy might also prolonged the inevitable to extend the genetic strand to it’s limit. While watching your channel, I did see a commercial of us engineering cells to reverse cancer cells and potentially use the immune system to assist in combating cancer cells and hopefully reversing it. I know certain cells are tasked for different jobs but though the research is specifically geared to curing Colin cancer, it might have the potential for more engineered cells to specialize in repairing effected areas experiencing cancer. It might be a real game changer if it works and potentially extends us to possibly being 120 as an extended lifespan. Might not get us to living 100,000 years like they do in halo, but it’s neat to see the potential.

    Watched a heavily edited play through of the first few missions of infinite, and a few pieces of evidence may confirm the theory of this new character being an ancient form. 1: UNSC audio log depicted a soldier being forced to activate some device (can't remember the name) 2: Chief comes across one of these devices that has been opened (seem to be the devices used by the forruners to catalog living beings) which is called the same name as what was opened in the audio log. Personal theory: the Banished woke this ancient creature (possibly San Shium) to have as an ally against humanity, she turned on them (there was a scene where a Banished leader explained that they will kneel to nobody, not even her), therefore, this unknown person/species will be a third party in this story similar to the flood, an adversary to both UNSC and Banished.

And I’m not saying this towards you, cuz I’m a Doom fan as well, but Doom fans have no right to say that Halo Infinite stole from Doom. A fat majority of what’s within Doom Eternal was blatantly taken from other games, with one of their biggest “influences” being Warhammer.
