Talk all the shit you want, the Dodgers don’t buy their teams. Drafted Outman, Buehler, Smith, Gonsolin, Miller, Kershaw, plus a lot of other talent on the team. Drafted Bellinger, Seager, Pederson, Jansen, Yordan Alvarez, plus more in the past, but lost them all through trade or free agency. Acquired most of the bullpen, Glasnow, Margot, Mookie, Taylor, Muncy, plus more through trade, giving up valuable pieces in the process. Don’t forget that Taylor and Muncy were nobodies in the league until they got to L.A. The biggest names we’ve signed long term through free agency the last few years are Freddie, Ohtani, and Yamamoto. How the fuck is signing three free agents buying your team? Sounds like saving up money for what you want and making good moves to me. This is chess, not checkers stop the hate, if your team made these moves you’d like it wouldn’t you? Don’t hate the player hate the game, go Dodgers.

I would say Hideo Nomo was the biggest Dodgers signing since Jackie in terms of social significance. Nomo basically proved that Asians could play ball with the best.
Im surprised more people aren't talking about that. Between Nomo's and Ichiro's impact it was obvious where he would go. Mariners were not in it and the proximity to japan is why he didn't go east.
Nomo broke open the door for asians to play ball here. He's the asian Jackie Robinson.

@@XxXDestroyer I agree you should try and make your team better but just going crazy signing every single superstar isn’t a winning championships equation, it doesn’t always work and it usually doesn’t work out especially since they will keep running into the same problems year after year they dominate the regular season take a vacation in September then go into the playoffs cold and lose to teams like Arizona and San Diego! It’s been the dodgers biggest problem that’s why they are known as chokers. Hey at least April-September will be fun for them, gotta always look on the bright side.

This is what they needed after barely doing anything last off-season, this betters their team and is a great business decision. Since the contracts will pay themselves with the amount of growth they're about to have from attendance, merchandise, and international sponsors.
The argument that it’s not fair isn’t valid to me. Teams go up and down all the time. This is a high point for the Dodgers organization and they are capitalizing on the resources they currently have.
The Dodgers have won their division for 11 consecutive years. This is not a short window of opportunity but a dominant superteam beating down the entire league. There needs to be measures to check their growth. How about LA forfeits a first round pick and their best prospect every time they sign a superstar? Not a bad price to pay for Ohtani & Yamamoto.

They have given up prospects to get guys (Mookie/TTurner/Glasnow) on their roster and yet the still produce new upcoming talent while signing these free agents. Thats the most impressive part, they produce their own talent consistently. Guys like Bobby Miller and Outman last year to go along with WSmith, Walker, and Gonsolin all Dodgers in house talent. Hell even the MVP of the last World Series is a Dodgers product. They are just an extremely well run org from top to bottom. As of right now the starting rotation is set and yea it’s a powerhouse right now. And then ya remember that they are getting Walker Buelher, Dustin May and Ohtani added to said rotation once their arms are healed! Having a rotation where you question where would Kershaw even fit in it is insane!
Yea as a Dodgers fan, there is just no way I cannot be hyped about this, I’m (not) sorry. They’re setting me up for heartbreak again but I do not care! That’s me in 10 months to worry about but for now, the salt from the rest of the MLB is delicious!

The Red Sox have won 4 WS in the last 20 years. They’ve also signed the biggest FAs during the off-seasons such as Adrian Gonzalez, Chris Sale, Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramirez, Manny Ramirez, JD Martinez, Carl Crawford, David Price, and they retained Devers. Wether those contracts worked out or not they still signed the biggest free agents available
If Roberts pitches Kershaw in PO again, it won't matter WHO is on the roster.

Legit question: Opposing fans are obviously upset at this monstrous flex of money. But, what do the actual LAD players think about it? Guys like Muncy, Smith, or Lux...how do they truly feel about the circus that is the Dodgers buying power? Take a look at the Giants of 10 years ago. They won 3 World Series titles in 5 years with basically no superstars and good pitching. A remarkable feat. And they will forever be remembered as a team that won it all with heart and by playing smart fundamental baseball. Today's Dodgers however, IF they win a World Series, will forever be remembered as winning it only after spending a BILLION+ dollars to do so. That can't be a great feeling, can it? Just my thoughts, but what do I know.

In the end, isn't the talent, skill set, and play savvy of all the players in the team that determines championships regardless of how much you spend?? And 10-15 years ago, you didn't have a Shohei Ohtani or any of the freakishly athletic and talented players you see now that and those that came out at least 5 years ago. Can't compare that era (2005- 2013) to today's baseball, which had grown competitively in exponential terms. Team owners and team management need to spend nowadays. Nothing is free. It's getting the right personnel at the right time that's critical for teams

I used the Red Sox, to compare a big market to another big market. Won a world series in 2018, but since then haven’t cared. Numerous opportunities to get better, and they don’t take it. A big market should be able to spend, and make moves.
